I once went on a date and a guy made too much of a fuss talking about how he has no children and never been married. Like, literally mentioned it 3-4 times during the date. I brushed it off, mostly because the general topic was about the future in this country, raising children etc. So after a date, we walk to the parking lot, coincidentally parked near each other and lo and behold, a child car seat 🤡🤡🤡 He tried to talk some bs about how his sister must've forgotten it because she borrowed a car this morning blah-blah-blah.

Went on a ski trip with my girlfriends not long ago. Met some guys (older, overweight, unattractive, sloppy drinkers) who started taking shots with us. They were fun for the moment but one of them just would not leave me alone. Tried flashing his money at me, told me about all his success, owns multiple houses, boats, lavish vacations. He told me he never found the time to settle down and have children. He was an unattractive man but arrogant and was clearly not used to being told no. I was unimpressed. He got upset and stomped out to his car to wait to leave while his friends still talked to us lol.

Oh god, this reminds me of a guy I was seeing. The dude was completely convinced, and no doubt still is, that he's some sort of female ally and feminist. This is gonna be TL;DR.

I talked to him for three months before we first had sex, during those three months we only met a few times because I was terribly anxious and shy about myself. He was very attentive originally, listening a lot, initiated chats, wanted to talk on the phone, wanted to meet, go to the movies. He convinced me I could trust him, and he would support me and be considerate, because I had never had sex before, with anyone, because of my personal confidence issues. He'd be my first.

Well, it didn't take long after we first had sex for him to lose interest, by a LOT.

During the first time we met for a longer time, he talked about traveling to another country for a few days. Only later did I realise that this was a trip to have sex with another woman, he kept that to himself. He also had other trips like this, visiting KitKat (fetish) club in Berlin etc.

I finally ended it once a girl he'd never met flew in from another country to come and stay at his place and fuck for a few days, and tried to pass it off as "a friend" visiting, and purposefully avoiding saying "she", always replacing it with "my friend", lol. Then a while after that, I found him on a website where people look for strangers to have sex with, his profile with nude photos of himself. He had completely omitted the fact that he was having outrageous amounts of sex with lots of people, was into threesomes, foursomes, meeting strangers he'd changed a message or two with online, while leading me on and giving the impression that he was interested in a relationship later on.

Suddenly that subreddit I fleetingly saw on his laptop, in which ppl in Atlanta (where he travelled for work for a month) were looking for hookups, made a lot of sense. We weren't exclusive, so at the time I couldn't fault him for dating other people, but I never realised it was quite this gross.

I had no idea of this, and because of my own lack of experience I was really gullible about the trips I did know of, because he wasn't obviously secretive originally, just talked of it as if it was a work trip or whatever. Later on if I asked questions, he'd say something like "well, that's private", or "I think it's my own prerogative as to what I tell anyone". Because of my own self-esteem issues, I was the perfect victim for this kind of talk, cause I'd blame myself completely. He had nothing but omission and disdain for me wanting to understand who or what the hell I was even dealing with here. If I was feeling badly and wanted to talk, clarify things, he'd give excuses and guilt trip me, even call me "dramatic" (a classic). So even if my intuition told me something was wrong, he'd make me feel like there was something wrong with me for wanting to get answers. I should've left when he first did this, but, ugh.

I ended up feeling like I was being used. I hate that I was as dumb as I was about him, and honestly it pains me to think of all the other women he's treating the same way. Just disgusts me that someone will hide everything that they are, just to keep the women in his life from realising that he isn't worth their time and effort and love. I guess I learned my lesson about men not wanting to talk. Stay "shy", to the point that you don't talk to anybody, fucko.

I don’t have any use for shy adults. Sorry. We all have insecurities and we all know that strangers literally statistically dedicate a total of 10% of their thought life to everyone who isn’t them, collectively. Which means you get 2 seconds of actual thought from everyone you meet.

A man can be shy. It’s fine of course. But he’s not ready to date just yet- therapy might be a good course of action if that’s his issue.
