Clearly they wanted to embarrass any woman who would consider buying the shoes by making women feel that it would be a show a vanity rather than an attempt at self protection.
Imagine if someone tried to present pepper spray this way!
“Oh it’s such a show of vanity to believe that you are attractive enough to need pepper spray to ward off rapists”

OooOOOHH~ This phrase "You have to be attractive to get sexually assaulted" is awful as hell.
I was watching a stream of a comic where an overweight female character was getting kissed as essentially forced upon and someone in the chat was like "You'd think they'd pick the more attractive female character hur hur" and the person hosting the stream (also a woman) halfheartedly AGREED?

So it seems to me that whoever wrote that review basically admitted to:
Being so dumb that they’re unaware that men have sexually assaulted and raped babies, children, elderly women, animals, AND corpses.
Or
They are aware of this, but still think that men only sexually “pursue” what looks good, sexually, meaning they agree that babies, children, dogs, and corpses look good sexually.

I've seen some modern shoes that I honestly thought looked pretty sweet for self-defense! Big chunky statement rings and damn near anything in your purse can be used as weapons! It's sad that we need to know this stuff. And even though I think self-defense is just wise I think it's stupid that that's a solution instead of telling men to stop acting like jackasses.

Fyi, I had a goth phase and made a little side cash by personalizing clothing. These are easy to DIY, some snap in place, some screw in, and a few you need to use a piece of wood as a brace and smack it with a hammer. The last type are permanent/ non removable. Glue a piece of cotton over the end so it won't rub and cause blisters. Its very easy, decide where you want it and poke a hole with an ice pick, then place the spike.
The spikes are super cheap too, and if you order a stainless steel they last forever.
