Lmao I have a friend who was in almost this exact situation. Her husband pushed an open marriage onto her, she started dating someone else right away. Her husband struggled to find anyone at all, and then tried to tell her it wasn’t “fair” if only one of them have a partner and she had to stop seeing her secondary.

She divorced him and is now engaged to the new guy, with no interest in another open arrangement. Her ex husband is trying to tell everyone she cheated on him.

My ex desperately wanted to fuck other women, it was the only thing giving his life meaning, so he wore me down and I agreed to the open relationship - but that was wrong because he expected me to not want to. Apparently by wanting attention and affection from other men in his absence I was punishing him, but his reasons for wanting to cheat were totally legit and not personal at all. I’m going to say it. Divorce is better than an open marriage and my marriage was 17 years non monogamous! I did meet some interesting people along the way, it wasn’t all horrible or I wouldn’t have done it as long as I did, but I ended up living two different lives as did my ex. Even though my ex and I still dated and had near daily (great) sex we no longer lived a life together. We were the ultimate fwbs in the end, who also turned to disregard the other.

My marriage would have ended either way for many other reasons but my outlook on men has become so toxic because of the non stop sexual exposure to them it was never worth the cost, and this is why I will never have a casual sexual relationship again. It devalues both men and women and no ones needs are truly met.
