FDS Value: When he tells you how he thinks about other women’s situations or problems, just know he will see your situation in the same way. He has an issue with girls who are financially needy or doing OF and think they should get jobs instead of doing nothing? There might be a time when you’re sick and can’t work, or you lose a job, or you’re pregnant, and he’s going to redirect that same energy towards you.

Vet him by asking how he feels about things like this. You should be figuring out how to indirectly and non threateningly ask about things like this before getting into a relationship with the guy. Make sure he’s comfortable so he’ll show you his real thoughts, laugh and agree, really really let him show you his true character. If it’s bad, make sure to leave and cut him off. But there isn’t anything more powerful than letting him tattle on himself.

Hopefully you’ll be able to catch tendencies and narcs before getting involved with this method. This post just goes to show how ignoring those narc tendencies early on can make it extremely hard to leave later on. Leave at the first red flag, don’t wait until he’s telling you that he would beat you.

I’m a bit cheered that this woman seems to have persistent thoughts that her husband has issues abs is dangerous. I hope she listens to her gut and gets out of what sounds like a horrifying situation.

It’s very easy for us to sit back and say we’d be able to leave a husband easily for saying something like this (I sure hope that’s true for all of us, including me!), but I think some compassion is called for. You never really know how strong your resolve is until it is tested. It can be very hard to let go of someone you love(d) and heavily invested in.
