Bills splitting and everything aside, it is extremely rude to invite additional guests to an outing and expect others to cover everything. This dude is showing his colors so blatantly and this girl doesn’t know what to do?…

I'm really curious about an age gap here. The fiance has college age kids so he's probably over 40. OP's parents are retired so she's likely not a teen or young 20s but she seems to weigh their opinions heavily while also defending her fiance. The whole thing just comes across very emotionally immature in a "how can I magically get everyone to like each other" way which is making me think she's younger.
[–]poppinkittyFDS Newbie 112 points113 points114 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think she might be in early 30's and the guy may be around 50.
[–]TrixieFriganzaFDS Newbie 82 points83 points84 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm guessing he's late 40s or early 50s and she's 25-35, she sounds young to me but could be older (30+) and just naive about relationships.

I’m 30 but my family is extremely Italian and I will be treated like I’m not a full adult until I get married. If I never get married, my brothers will be given unofficial custody of me when my parents pass. It’s very important to me that my family approves of whoever I marry. But that’s why I wouldn’t marry this guy...

Dating a wealthy, cheap man is like dating a broke man. Don't do this, ladies. Dump him.
[–]laffytaggyFDS Newbie 56 points57 points58 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes absolutely! I dated a cheap millionaire. Far worse than dating a “regular” earning man. Earnings, assets, net worth etc mean very little in a partner if they are not generous. If I moved in with this guy, my lifestyle would have been a major downgrade from how I currently live. Even worse than the lifestyle my working class parents provided me!
[–]Fit_JuiceFDS Newbie 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
No, at least he never had the money to afford this shit himself.
[–]purasangriaRuthless Strategist 24 points25 points26 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I mean that for the woman, dating a cheap wealthy man gives her the same experience as dating a broke man. It doesn't benefit her at all to date such a man. So don't do it.
[–]Fit_JuiceFDS Newbie 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
No what I'm saying it's worse. Because the wealthy man has money unlike a broke man. Both are fucking awful but a wealthy cheapskate is worse in my opinion.
[–]purasangriaRuthless Strategist 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh, agreed. He could, but he won't. You're so right!

This is ridiculous. The parents should insist on separate checks where the parents just pay for themselves, the scrote is forced to pay for himself and the mini-scrotes, and OP is stuck in the awkward situation where she knows Scrote won't pay for her and it's "too old fashioned" for mummy and daddy to pay for her, so she has to pull out her own wallet and pay for herself. This would cut that behavior out real quick.
I feel so sorry for these parents that they have to entertain this clown just to not hurt their daughter's feelings. On the other hand, they should have taught her more self-respect than this.
[–]Sugarcinnamonvanilla 59 points60 points61 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That’s a great idea if anyone has a leach like this in a group. Just ask for your bill separately and let the rest of the group figure it out.
[–]ChocoBananzaFDS Apprentice 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
In their defence, my parents taught me self respect very early on, I just didn’t wanna listen. Fell for the ‘cool girl’ narrative 😒. I thought that they’re old, have no idea how the world works now, I have all the answers 🤡. Wish I listened, lol.
[–]08__80FDS Newbie 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, I've seen this so much as I grow older. These young new girls of every generation think they know best. They have to split checks now because having the guy pay is old fashioned (but what's really happening is that they know if they even suggested for the guy to pay, he would laugh in their faces.) They have to have sex on the first date because not having sex is old fashioned (but what's really happening is that they know if they don't put out, there won't be a date #2.) They say they love sucking dick/doing anal and truly enjoy it and think you're a prude for telling them that they are allowed to say no and never do it (but what's really happening is they have been conditioned to see themselves as prudes for not enjoying it or wanting to do it.) I can go on and on. They think they know everything, and then Surprised Pikachu Face when years later they finally realize that the old ladies were right all along.
I wish there was an easier way to wake girls up, that's why I'm so glad FDS exists now. I'm not just screaming out into the void anymore! People are actually listening, and understanding!
I'm glad you woke up so early. So many adult women out there even in their 80's and 90's still living the Pickmeisha lifestyle and teaching their daughters and granddaughters to get taken advantage of by scrotes.
[–]MyBeautifulSweetsong 73 points74 points75 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You need to ask your fiance why he thinks it's cool to being extra mouths to feed. And this seems like a bad situation when's man with money wants those with Les to split with him.
Look at all the 50/50 women who talk about not having any money left after helping their wealthy boyfriend's with the high living costs that the man is accustomed to.
When he starts asking you to help foot the bill for things you can't afford and you realize you are helping to fund his lifestyle.

If someone makes you live on a shoestring budget to afford their lifestyle, they do not genuinely love you. Someone who loves you wants to make sure you're not living with a financial burden and are able to comfortably do things like save for retirement.

Yikes🤮. That's why we don't date stingy losers. Not because we are old fashioned or traditional but because that's what happens when you bring a cheap loser into your life. That's why it's important to date a generous man.
[–]theterminatressFDS Newbie 25 points26 points27 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is also why I personally won’t date single fathers. When you don’t have kids of your own you’ll get put at the bottom of the list, financially too, almost every time after his kids.

Why does he do that? Because they're letting him do that. If I were him, I'd be embarrassed, but we'll skip over that because it sounds like he lacks the capacity to be embarrassed. He's got college age sons, for goodness sake! If I were her, I'd dump him pronto. For her parents, next time they go out to dinner I'd have a word with the server away from the table and pay my portion, then leave. Let him pay for the children he chose to have.
[–]splendiddiamondsFDS Newbie 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You read my mind lol. The parents are in “do as I say, not as I do territory”. They just pay the bill for everyone when the guy asks, then continue to go out with him, wash rinse repeat, and then wonder why the daughter tolerates his stinginess. Well, you’re modeling tolerating it over and over!
[–]Sugarcinnamonvanilla 34 points35 points36 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The cost of being a woman is expensive compared to living as a man. There are actually stats on this but you don't need them, just add up what you pay for in skincare, makeup, beauty, fitness, menstruation, children (if you have them), and onward. If he wants his woman to feel and look like her best self, he should absorb the cost of dinners and bills to share a home. But her parent's need to also set some boundaries with this man! He can't feed his own kids? Please. Trainwreck. I hope she listens to her Mom!

I really blame media, movies etc. for this as it's clearly not her upbringing.
[–]Fit_JuiceFDS Newbie 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, that would imply her parents did nothing to raise her and let the TV/Computer babysit her. Not sure what's worse this, or being raised with pickme influences.

My moms ex bf brought my grandma a gift basket with all her favourite snacks (which he remembered from the stories she told of her), a bouquet of roses, and treated everyone to dinner, the first time he met her.
And he focused all of his energy on getting to know my grandma, and really charmed the pants off her. He also was very upfront with my mom that his intentions were to marry her, and that he needed her mother’s approval if it was ever going to work.
Men who are serious about you, understand the importance of making a good first impression on their family, and will do everything in their power to do it.
[–]PollyAnnaSunshineFDS Newbie 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Good for her parents for bringing this up to her. This man does indeed sound cheap for expecting them to pay the way for his adult children and asking her to go 50/50 with bills.
I'm curious why they don't clearly state how to divide the check when the server asks? At least where I am from it wouldn't be rude for someone to say who should be on what tab if it's a smaller party.
