love this post. can’t fully expand my thoughts on it rn, but this is definitely something i’ve become more cognizant of and try to actively combat. feminists play so many language games, constantly redefining terms because their narrative of victim hood simply trumps everything else.

this is the same way they see no issue in saying stupid shit like women are the real victims of men dying in wars. their perspectives are all that matters

But when a woman does something wrong, it's a patriarchy problem, so that it can still be painted as a man problem.

This reminds me of one time when I saw someone proclaim that women getting comparatively lighter jail sentences to men as "misogyny at its finest." As if even when men are losing out, somehow, women are victimized.

It's not shaming of female traits, it's shaming of men due to lack of empathy for men. She doesn't hate women, she hates men that don't follow the gender roles that she wants them to.

It's intellectual slight of hand.

From one perspective you could argue that any gendered insult is an insult to both genders as it denies everyone their common humanity. BUT you mostly see this used by feminist narratives to turn biases against men into biases against women, and this is enabled by the larger societal bias towards seeing women as victims.

In reality, both men and women face gendered discrimination and expectations. And most of the gendered shaming is basically "stay in your lane!" But feminism starts with the conclusion that women are always the real victims and picks whichever arguments lead there.

So if a woman shames a man for not being manly enough, it's somehow actually misogyny. But if a man or woman shames a woman for not being feminine enough... that's also still misogyny.

If you see something that looks like sexism against women, then you're supposed to just accept it as that. No further analysis necessary. Face value is good enough.

But if it seems like sexism against men, then you have to keep digging and rethinking until you see women as the real victims.

Women hate men who don’t fit their predefined definition of the male gender role. They’re doing some serious mental gymnastics to believe that attitude stems from misogyny. People who are that ideologically possessed are not capable of having different thoughts.

Right; it isn't feminine characteristics that are being judged in your example, it's the fact that a man isn't performing his gender role properly. Those same feminine behaviors are approved of when they are done by the gender for whom it is permissible to do them. In that case, those behaviors signal that the woman is performing her gender role correctly and she will generally be rewarded for doing so.

I agree however for me I feel that it's not worth my time and effort to constantly debate misandrists. Sure if they rock up to this subreddit I'll pushback. I do have control over irl, we should do what we can to stop family and friends from becoming radicalised.

I will debate a healthcare worker over misandry because I feel that they ought to know and do better.

This is a copy and paste from a different form but it fits.

The fundemental lie that feminism is built on and why the movement can never truly be about equality.

I'm going to use isalm for my initial argument since it's basically universally considered a sexist religion.

Isalm isn't even sexist it's a generally oppressive religion.

You can say " Islam is sexist because a woman can't leave the house without covering her face or she will be killed

When in the same country " a man can not shave his beared or he will be killed"

The entire Islam is sexist narrative is built on the idea that only women suffer.

For you to make that argument you have to go into a culture look at how that culture uniquely hurts women in a way that doesn't hurt men. Claim that this difference is primarily due to sexism (the hatred of women) without evidence. Then you need to actively ignore/ erase all instances of said culture uniquely oppressing men so that your argument can make any sense.

You can literally look to any point in history including today where feminists claim society favored men and find this exact pattern of behavior.

And it's why I don't like when male advocates try to pretend that feminism was good before and women where oppressed before and the average man has only began suffering relatively recently.

That entire idea is a blatant revision of history that I will not stand for

Men have always suffered through out history including due specifically to their gender the same has happened for women.

The very idea that suffering and oppression is somehow gender exclusive is an extremely sexist one.

And it's why feminism is a fundemntaly sexist movement.

It claims patriarchy as the cuase for female (and male when it's convenient) suffering essential claiming that women suffer because of men and men suffer because of men. So men are the fundemental driver's of sexism.

It is expressing male hyper agency while also Expressing female hypo agency inspite both being literal halves of the population for most of human history.

If they say it’s misogyny ask why it’s only men who are made fun of for their emotions? Apparently society hates femininity but only when men do it. That’s not misogyny. It’s the opposite. Women are free to express themselves without fear of judgement for the most part. Men can’t.

Here's why, in my opinion, their argument is wrong:

Misogyny means hatred towards women. Or, more broadly, towards femininity.

If a shaming a crying man was a display of hatred towards femininity, then we would expect women to be also shamed when crying.

Instead, what's commonly observed is that women, when crying, are consoled and supported, not despised.

Therefore we can infer that the target of the shaming isn't femininity in itself. What's despised by traditional society is the confusion between gender roles. Traditionalists shame men who "behave like women" and "women who behave like men".

I would call that conformism. Maybe misandry, insofar it's a display of hatred towards the part of masculinity which deviates from the social prescriptions (always be strong, stoic, ecc). Certainly not misogyny.

Side note: like most political sciences, feminism needs to present unintuitive interpretations, so that they sound complex to non-specialists, who echo their arguments in order to appear intelligent themselves. In reality, nothing they say is founded on a rigorous process of knowledge-building, no matter how much they present it as unquestionable. It's all based references to authors/authorities. I like philosophy. I just don't like when philosophy is turned into knowledge and then actual politics, skipping the part where we establish what's real and what isn't.

I just tell them, "No crying is a human trait, which is why women hate seeing men cry because misandry causes them to believe men aren't human. If crying is seen as a feminine trait, and society hates feminine traits, then why is it proven through studies that men and women show a lot more sympathy and empathy when women cry? If you hate something or someone, you're not going to show sympathy or empathy. By that logic, white people in the 50s and 60s would show an immense amount of sympathy and empathy to black people if black people cried.

There's a reason why sissification is a thing in humiliation porn while there is no equivalent that is gender/sex swapped.

That said, regardless of whatever the root cause of the sexism is, a male who is harmed by sexism is still harmed by sexism, and that's not his fault. You can't just scream "patriarchy" as if he's somehow not been victimized by the system.

It's a difficult subject as much attributed to misogyny/misandry is also "just" general differences between men and women.
