They're right . . . if you define (as they do) intimate partner violence as something a man inflicts on a woman.

It's technically accurate and practically useless.

For instance: intimate violence is now defined as a black person harming a white person. Therefore being black is a huge predictor of intimate violence.

I like how being male makes you violent, but not having a male parent makes you violent, even though according to the UN, the male parent would obviously end up commuting violence, causing the child to grow up and become a violent adult.

Haven't read the whole study but the graphic clearly states "Factors Associated" not "Factors Causing." Might be just as easy to put "Being Chinese" up there, assuming the Chinese suffer domestic violence at similar rates as the rest of the world.

Well... it depends. If it's an actual proper study they did, and these factors showed up as proper correlations, then it would be dishonest to leave out that men appeared as being more likely to commit domestic abuse.

But if it's like a collection of 'probablies' or a buncha supposedly-random studies they found online, then-

A wide range of studies agrees on several factors at each of these levels that increase the likelihood that a man will abuse his partner.

...then it can pretty much be dismissed as nonsense. Yeah. I was wondering how the hell they measured "Notion of masculinity linked to dominance, honour, or aggression".

Acceptance of violence as a way to resolve conflict

Except violence as a way to resolve conflict has never been accepted against women, at most it's accepted against men, including by women. So really this completely disproves their own point.

They also conveniently ignore demographic information such as being unmarried, young and factors associated with ethnicity. Issues effecting women are always gender wide, but issues affecting men are split by highlighting the most affected demographic alone.

They also seem to disregard the fact that DV is gender symmetric.

One thing I would like to note. There is a huge difference between 1st world countries and 3rd world countries. Each type of country does have different issues that need to be addressed separately.

So, in some countries there could still be very rigid gender roles where the man has complete control over the woman.

This does not apply to most developed countries. And it's terrible that feminists use the suffering of those in the 3rd world to push their agenda in the 1st world.
