Feminism has been permeating our culture for decades. For the most part, it's gone unchallenged except by the religious right, tradcons and so on.

But now, they have to deal with a movement with which they can't argue against. So they resort to attempts at shaming us, smearing us as hate groups, as misogynists, etc.

I see it as creep shaming on a much bigger scale. When a feminist see's an argument not going her way the go to reaction is to attack the male party by trying to embarrass them by painting them as being ungentlemanly. They try to appeal to anyone they can and this is the point when a white night steps up for the opportunity to try and point out he disagrees to show he is in fact a gentlemen. What we are seeing now is the same creep shaming with a much larger audience. Sadly enough the white nights are already biting.

Is it just me, or is acting like rape is worse than murder then calling any random supporter of men's rights a rapist kind of hypocritical? It seems they have no concept of how serious it is to accuse someone of rape to the point that they see no problem with using it as a petty insult.

All of their facts are actually lies and MRAs see though those lies, you can't fight logic with lies so you resort to shaming. More and more men are waking up to this fact. The problem is a lot of men are responding with their own hate and I can't say I blame them, sometimes I feel myself sway that way.

Radical Feminists view men as the enemy. I was involved with one for a while, and she had an interesting dynamic with men. She hated men yet wanted to be around them. She rejected them yet wanted to be accepted by them. She felt victimized by them yet she chose to be with me. Very odd. After a while it was too much and I cut sling. I still respect her, but I recognize she's essentially a tortured soul living in, from her perspective, a hopeless reality which is unequivocally stacked against her.

It's because, at least as far as the feminists are concerned, men aren't allowed to have problems. I see three reasons:

Women's rights groups feel like it's not enough to advocate for women's rights, but also against men's rights, as if men's issues somehow cheapen or invalidate women's issues. Obviously this isn't correct. But we're dealing with the Oppression Olympics crowd here. It's not enough to have issues, you need to have OUTRAGEOUS ISSUES THAT ARE WORSE THAN EVERYONE ELSE'S ISSUES.
The sexist notion that men are hyper-aggressive and have an intent to hurt women wherever they go. Therefore, if men are advocating, it MUST be anti-women as a matter of principle. This concept applies to even the smallest actions men can take. There's literally an entire blog about how men sit with their legs apart on busses and how that's some expression of misogyny. I'll put it this way: if spreading your legs on the bus when nobody is sitting next to you is despicable misogyny, what do you think advocacy is going to be seen as?
Feminism encourages a group mentality. Think about it. If you live your life defining yourself by group terms, you start to see the world in group terms. So, for example, if a man gets an unfair deal in divorce court... well, a different man got off without paying his fair share in some other court, so it all evens out. If a man gets falsely accused of rape, well, a different man got away with rape, so it balances out. This means that when we complain about a man getting falsely accused of rape, we are denying justice, because that false accusation of rape is supposed to "make up" for a real rapist who never was caught. Seriously.

Yeah, everyone's going to downvote me but I'm going to speak my truth:

Because some groups who call themselves MRAs are indeed hateful and bigotted. This reddit group is pretty good but if you look at other sites they are often far far worse. Here are come common ideas often on supposed "men's rights" sites/blogs:

Women should go back to traditional roles of staying at home, being a virgin until marriage, etc.
Women are inherently weaker/dumber than men
Women are only valuable for their looks and youth
Women do not contribute to civilization
Women are shallow/greedy/immature

I respect the men's right movement addresses serious problems and injustices men face, but often there is a blatant misogynistic element mixed in it. If you don't see that, I dunno what to say, seems like willful blindness/ignorance.

I think its cos lots of people here basically talk about feminism being wrong, or out to get men. Which, (I know people may not agree here) at its core its not supposed to be about. My girlfriend calls herself a feminist, had me look at some of her intro books. and while they were depressing, I didn't see much I felt to be a lie, or attack on me purposely. The main ideology is actually fine in the relationship, cos she supports mens rights too. Just means I don't have to pay for dinner, buy her huge expensive gifts, or do anything for her unless she can't herself.

Not there is the batshit-crazy types we all refer too. Even my girlfriend agrees these people are either speaking bullshit, or have some sort of severe PTSD/man-phobia.

But these rarely extend beyond some obscure bloggers. I think the problem is in the fact people seem to think you have to dismiss one for another to be valid, and its causing both to fall apart as arguments.

e.g Feminism making a statement about rape against women by men. MR coming back with all these facts about men being raped by other men, and women. neither of these make the other Ok. So the entire retort is kind of pointless. Look , I may be a fool but I still see feminism as perfectly valid. Websites like Everydaysexism show that misogyny is still sprinkled here and there. but lets not forget it never would have gotten anywhere if not for the support of men (I'm, talking back in the unable to vote days)

So same goes other ways, in order gain validity and not be seen as a hate group MR needs more prominent female support, and thats hard to get by ostracising feminism, since the very definition of feminism is something pretty much all women support (equality)

This is merely a tactic. All radical authoritarian movemernts (such as marxist feminists) use this tactic. Orthodox feminism (universities, NGOs, government agencies) have a philosophy that only the eradication of the European heterosexual norm of family and personal freedom (and opposed to collectivism) can lead to a utopia of non-violence, forced "equality" and free stuff. It is a mere propaganda ploy. Read "Rules for Radicals" and it will become crystal clear.

The MRM must -- from the marxist feminist perspective be discredited, banned, censor and destroyed -- or else there will be no progress and the social engineering (heavily funded brainwashing methods) will fail to gain complete control.

Feminists are an actual hate movement (and I say that as someone who has studied the phenomena - I'm not just shitting you here), and conservative groups often adopt a tactic of attacking their critics with the same accusations that they are guilty of.

That's pretty much all there is to that. We're talking about a group of people that claim all men are rapists after all. We're talking about a group of people who's only response to critics like Warren Farrell is to cal him a pedophile. Really, I'm shocked it took them this long to come up with this "argument" in defence of feminism.

Repeat a lie often enough and it starts to carry weight.

Most people don't come here or read anything about this movement.

So all they know are what they've been told. MRAs aren't always the most vocal about their beliefs (for some very valid reasons) so what they hear is from the other group that is interested in such issues: feminists.

And naturally feminists despise MRAs.

It's kind of like learning about black people from the Klan because you've never actually met one (and assuming that the klan guy is telling the truth). You might end up with a skewed view of black people until you actually meet a few and think "huh, they're nothing like they were described, they're just regular folks".

I would have no problem with feminism if it didn't constantly step on the rights of men, promote negative male stereotypes, and constantly abuse their privilege in academia to produce the most bigoted unethical studies in human history.

Feminism is hurting women too, to promote their idea of rape culture through dishonest statistics is exploiting women's emotions by manipulating them to be in a constant state of fear (of men). Bad purposeful statistics such as portrayed in the Enliven infographic would also encourage real rapists to rape as rapists would believe that they would never be prosecuted or the victim would not report them.

Feminism puts both men and women on their sacrificial altar to promote their erroneous beliefs of wage gap, rape culture, and patriarchal oppression. This is why so many women are starting to disavow feminism.

I know why this subreddit might be considered hate, but I don't know why the MRA movement in whole is labeled as such...maybe because most members have a lot of hate in them because of the injustices they faced. They're angry and that makes people think we're a hate group even though we don't campaign hate.

A lot of what's been posted is defending MRAs from the accusation, which is fine, but aso fails to answer the question. In short: language. Some articles on AVFM tend to dip pretty heavily into blatantly misogynistic language, calling women (especially feminists) bitches or cunts and then using patronizing terms like princess. The articles may or may not have rational arguments; however, the intense loathing infused into the language destroys any potential point to be made.

TL;DR: Too many articles, even if a minority, are loaded wih hate speech and present a bad front for the movement.

Firstly, your question is LOADED as this group was never found to be a hate group. For that reason alone I am calling bullshit and an attempt at derailing.

Would someone remind me why we care that a blatantly radically feminist funded group in the south, that I and many others hadn't even heard of until the whole "hate group" labeling fiasco, has basically wagged their finger at us and said well they COULD be bad? That's just a ludicrous as trying to prove a negative. "Well Prove to me that unicorns DON'T exist."

Please can we move on from this subject and start just blatantly downvoting it? The fact that we give it any credence and continue to waste our breath on defending it suggests we take it seriously as though it could possibly be true. That is exactly what our bigoted counter-parts want.

I simply think that people who oppose the MRM believe that we are intrinsically against Woman's Rights which is completely untrue, bringing attention to one does not mean to suppress the other (which is what some of the third-wave feminism seems to be doing today).

1.) It's a convenient narrative to help marginalize and shame anyone who speaks out.

2.) As with all smoke, there is fire somewhere. You joined the MRM at a time when it is quite liberal and egalitarian, but it certainly has its roots in anti-feminism and, to some extent, has deserved it's reputation. What is now a vocal minority has tainted the reputation for us and it may take some time to fix.
