I think the same thing about dog owners. Dogs are overly affectionate and many people who have them are obsessed with being their "parent" and enjoy the unconditional affection - you hear the term dog mom thrown around, I don't hear cat mom.

Cats in particular don't require much maintenance and don't require you to leave your house, allowing a perfect friend who won't ever abandon you.

both me and my boyfriend love cats. No problems as of yet. I'll admit I'm a lot less social, but I didn't get my own cat until this year, so I really don't think it's the cause. My bf absolutely loves cats, has grown up with two cats since he was young, and is way more socialized than I am. He's popular and forms friendships easily, is way more involved in his friend's lives than I am, and is just all around more charismatic than I am. I realize these are just anecdotes, but I know so many different kinds of people who love cats, and I have never seen the kind of pattern you're talking about.

Maybe you limited your perception by filtering out cat pictures lol. You didn't even give anyone who likes cats much of a chance to prove you wrong.

In general people that are obsessing over pets are terrible to be around. People that watch their pet on camera while they are out are one of the worst I've ever met. Every time you try to change the subject they try to make it about their pet.

Cats are a green flag, it takes patience and understanding boundaries to earn a cat's trust and affection.

Now dogs on the other hand, are completely the opposite. Why do you think you see so many single women with dogs? Because rather than put effort into a real relationship it's easier to default to an animal that will love you unconditionally.

Many cats are extremely cute. Im more of a dog guy myself but my gf and I adopted two kittens last year and they are just as adorable as any puppy. I love cute little things. I love to give the kittens cuddles. I taught them how to play catch (yes, catch not fucking fetch. They catch the mousey in the air and run it back). I do not have mental issues, I have many strong friendships with men and women

Animal fact: Those people who hoard cats in their dirty homes are infected with a parasite that lives to infect cats. It will infect multiple animals in a chain until it infects a bird or a rat/mouse. Then it makes those animals act in a way that ignores their natural fear or averseness to cats in order to get eaten by them. In humans, it deadens the smell of cat urine and feces and causes the people to act as those people do.

Eh, having a cat is fine, but its also a thing you need to account for. Most people are pretty shit with training their pets is the real overarching issue in my experience. Its also awkward if you're good with animals because all you really need to do is get someones badly socialized hellspawn to like you and they take it as some kind of sign you're the one, but this also applies to single mothers in my experience.

Pretty sure there's actual science that shows that cat pee specifically makes humans go crazy over time and has a higher effect in women.

No other animal does this but cats. It's probably why the Egyptions worshipped them.
