Sometimes I think the people on this sub don’t go out much. Truth be told no matter how many statistics you throw out people will always want to get married/settle down. Whether or not those relationships will last is another matter. People make decisions based on how they feel in the moment.

Your partner isn’t supposed to be your source of excitement in life. At least not after the honeymoon phase. Your partner is supposed to be a source of stability in your life, an anchor not a 24/7 entertainment machine. Of course shit gets boring after a while, but that’s not an excuse to indulge in degenerate behavior, it means you should find something to do with your life that doesn’t revolve around sex and dating.

i say do whatever the hell you want, but i’m gonna be enjoying the journey that is life with my life partner while people like y’all are in miserable relationships with people you don’t seem to love or respect very much. doesn’t seem like your priority is emotional connection anyway.

if that’s the case, why not just have a kid with a woman and co-parent while remaining single? instead of dragging someone into your mess when you know you’re gonna leave them at some point or another because you’re too immature (and/or selfish) to make a genuine attempt at cultivating emotional intimacy with a woman. i only feel sorry for the children because this is gonna be their fucked up idea of what a relationship looks like.

there are intangible parts of romantic relationships that these posts just can never encompass, and too many of you guys lack the ability to see nuance.

Personally I think we will have short term contracts to create children and raise them to a certain age, after which parents will end marriage.

What about those of us who don't want to procreate? Kids are a ton of work.

Seems like you rather mean long term monogamous relationships to get boring over time, because they are the same stimulus? But in your view of a possible fix, you think people could not get bored for 10-12 years? You do know how fast we adapt to a stimulus? Do you think titties will ever not stimulate you, even after 50 years of seeing them regularly?

. I think it's unrealistic to expect humans to be faithful to one person after 15+ years.

Faithfulness does not depend on how long you know someone but on what kind of a person you are and if you even have the opportunity to not be faithful.

The future is to not get married at all and to be in relationships that are based on individual contracts if needed, for whatever time feels good.

10-12 years is not long enough. The children are still children and kids need both their parents growing up. Little boys and girls need their dad to be powerful intelligent masculine father figure to show them what a man is supposed to be and how a man carries himself and conducts himself. They need their mom to be that feminine nurturing caring kind mother figure to show them what a lady is and how she conducts and carries herself. I would say the marriage should dissolve after the kids have grown up but that would take just over 20 years. My thing is that nobody should get married and have kids unless they are absolutely truly ready to settle down with one person they are absolutely convinced and certain is their soulmate. The thing is a lot of men don't want one woman and they don't believe in soulmates.

As far as polyamory is concerned a lot of men are definitely going to be against sharing their women. I know what does sound like hypocrisy but I as a man doesn't want to be faithful to this woman but he wants to be safer to him. But I guess men are just wired to be hypocritical like that. We're territorial over our women. A whole lot of us want a different variety of pussy. So as far as a family unit and raising kids if a man wants pussy outside of that it should stay outside of that. The issue is a woman either not going to be okay with him having sex with other women or her wanting to have sex with other men and he is going to be the vehemently against that. So it's a matter if compromise can happen when it comes to sex and raising kids in a family.

My girlfriend is really freaking hot but I realize that one day I might not be as physically obsessed with her. If that day comes, we’d still be bffs! She def could’ve found a hotter guy, but she invested in me, so I will invest in her. I love a ton of other things about her, like whenever I text something mildly stressful she will just drop everything and call me. She likes to play the switch and we could def always find a game we enjoy together. She’s also incredibly thoughtful, like I accidentally mention once that I’m wanting a new short sleeve button down or whatever and BAM next thing I know she got one for me. So we may grow old and wrinkly over time but I will ALWAYS remember that when she was at her absolute prime, she chose me. I think it’s really unfortunate that the “narrative” from modern women/feminism is that guys need to improve or whatever whilst unrealistic expectations for shit like men’s height run rampant. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Many women saying men need to “improve” will turn around and jack up their height preferences online and dig through the garbage of single tall guys. If you really want to find an all-around great guy, you need to get your head out of your ass and start having realistic physical expectations for men and actually give a chance to enough men to realistically find what you’re looking for. Men don’t need to improve, your physical standards for men are just unrealistic and you refuse to see that. If you want to spend your life reading articles about women “being more comfortable being single” and hating on women with realistic standards for “settling”, go ahead! You’ll go to your grave seething in misandry, bitter and alone, just to prove you don’t need men or die on the hill that your standards can’t possibly be unrealistic, it must be everyone else!

It's interesting how conservative this sub is when you scratch below the surface. People cheat, divorce, find themselves in dead bedrooms. One or the other of those things are coming for you.
