Trying to control your girlfriend’s actions is not an appropriate response to your feelings. It’s abusive, actually.

If you don’t like something that someone is doing, you can and should tell them what you feel and think about it. This gives them the opportunity to decide, with their own free will, if they want to change what they’re doing or not. And if they don’t, that gives you the opportunity to decide, with your free will, if you still want them in your life or not.

I would dump a man who told me he wanted to limit my social media and I would never tell my husband to limit his. He does FB, Insta and Snapchat. I have FB and Insta, I've never had Snapchat or TikTok or whatever. We have each other's passwords to our phones, but I never use his to snoop and I'm confident he does not either. It's more for like if he's driving and he wants me to look something up on his phone, stuff like that.

If you have a personal boundary about not wanting to be in a relationship with a girl who snapchats other dudes and dms them on Instagram, that means that you filter for compatibility on that issue and choose girls to date who don’t behave that way. It doesn’t mean you find a girl to date and then try to get her to change her behavior to match your preferences.

You can’t control other people, and it’s unwise to try. Boundaries are about how you behave, and about what you will and won’t accept.

OP, always think about your time with women as borrowed time. She is doing all of that, but you are fucking her. She should be the one worried about you, not viceversa. So stop thinking about this girl as “your girlfriend” if she behaves like that, have some fun and talk with other girls too. I don’t say this because I think you are abusive, I say this because modern women want to have bfs and keep their options open, so don’t behave like her bf, have fun with her but be ready to dump her. As someone under 25 with a girlfriend under 25, no, I did not know that, I'm not sure if it's as common as you think. I can see how this could make you uncomfortable, but I think it would be healthier to just try and get over your insecurities, if that's not something you can do right now then I think it would've been fine to explain to her how the snapchatting makes you feel and see if she's willing to stop for you. Demanding she stops just sounds controlling, especially if you'll be demanding access to her Instagram, too. You shouldn't force your partner to do something when it doesn't even impact you, I understand setting boundaries but this doesn't have anything to do with you, it's your problem to work on that it bothers you, not to force her to fix. Plus, it's a bad sign if you need her to change only one month in, there's bound to be many more things you'll need to compromise on. If this is really a deal breaker for you, I think you should just move on. And no, this is not something I do in my relationship, I trust my partner.
