Does it differ between the sexes?

Almost everything differs, because of sex.

Parental SMV and RMV

In context to RMV, the biggest factor is culture. If Filial Obligation is a societal norm, then parenthood is important. If it’s not, then parenthood is not as big a factor.

In context to SMV, I’ve found it hasn’t been. I dated numerous women as a single parent. Sexually/attraction wise if you’re attractive prior to parenthood, odds are you’ll still be attractive after. Provided you’ve maintained yourself. e.g. physique, social skills, interests etc..

All that said most parents want their kids to have healthy, happy, and fulfilling relationships. Then first that’s what parents need to model.

well let's see my mother has npd, a balloon belly, three chins, sags everywhere and she buys a half liter of coca cola every other night. 3/10 at best (she'd still be getting top results on tinder.)

my father makes about 5 to 6 times what she makes, has a higher education (they started out similar), and is at a healthy BMI. both have hair loss.

All the single mums I know (I know a lot as I work with kids and have them) all partnered up/got married shortly after being single. For logistical reasons, the other person was usually childless.

I would much rather date as a single mother than the majority of childless, single men.

Bare in mind I'm on the UK and single mothers here are less in need of financial support for men the date.

Parents are an instant no. I'd prefer if we couldn't reproduce together to be honest, that's one less thing to worry about.

Of course it does, who would say otherwise? Being the mother of my kid would make a woman's RMV skyrocket. Being the mother of some other guy's kid is a big detriment to her RMV. I'm not gonna say it's a dealbreaker, but it's definitely not good.

Younger childless people prefer partners without children.

Older people expect the vast majority of people they will date will have children.

Those are generalizations. By definition a generalization is a trend, not an absolute.

At the end of the day, single parents don’t seem to really have any trouble dating as long as they manage their own expectations. Which is true of any and every human being who is dating.

“It’s unfair that I’m ugly and have to date ugly women” is the refrain of a child not an adult who is mature enough to be dating.

As a man, why TF would you raise someone else’s baby unless you are completely desperate? It’s not just a redflag it’s a straight up dealbreaker for any guy with options.

If I had to really stretch for a scenario, I guess if the woman is significantly higher than me in terms of looks, only has one kid, the bio dad is not in the picture, does not need nor expect me to pay, does not require me to play daddy, and is also carrying or will be carrying my child — then maybe, but just a maybe.

As far as single dads go, having a child obviously wouldn’t do your dating life any favors either. But most of the issues can be glossed over if you make enough money and/or you are exceptionally attractive. However if you have money and end up having kids with the new woman, expect drama down the road when it comes to childrearing costs and splitting assets.

Not really. Dudes with kids are also huge red fucking flags. Id never date a man with kids, until im at a point where im dating men with fulky grown kids. And a dude that doesn't have even partial custody of his kids, never sees them, never calls them, and has a fucking sob story? Nah, man, nah.

With women, I'm sure they're judged heavily for having kids. Just like men are. Honestly I'm not raising anybody else's kids.

I think people with kids tend to date each other first, I could be wrong. And I've seen lots of stories on both sides of "single person dates person with kids, then resent the kids for being a tie to the ex"

I mean, maybe this depends on the age and genetics of the parents. I’ve never been one to have sex outside the context of a trusting relationship, but when I was younger I don’t think I would have considered a relationship with a man with children. Having and raising kids was an experience I really only wanted to share with my significant other.

I could see for women SMV and RMV decreasing after children. Pregnancy is a lot on the human body, and I feel like I “bounced back” better than average. I still feel a little more run down than I used to 😂 I could also see men being resistant to a relationship with a woman with kids because they don’t want to be responsible for someone else’s children. This is probably true of both genders since men are no longer the only breadwinners. But if anyone valued the relationship enough I think that becomes something you’re willing to do.

Men don’t suffer much in terms of SMV from having kids, I don’t think. Especially because you often can’t even tell outwardly.

For women it's a big hit to their RMV. For SMV the only thing that matters is their looks. For men it's not ideal but it's not that important.

For SMV it doesn’t matter I guess.

When I was in my 20s I didn’t want to get involved with men with kids. I didn’t want kids at that time; I didn’t want to play with them or babysit or try to be a mom. Especially to kids that weren’t mine.

Now I’m in my 40s and have a kid. Most men my age and older will have kids. I think this is going to be a question of age more than anything. After a certain point most people in your dating pool have kids, and after 40-45 the kids are older to the point it matters less.

Something I have noticed significantly is the rise of my RMV in my 40s, most of my peers are already divorced (something like 70%) and seeking me out as if they know they fucked up. They could still get casual sex more easily (by asking a random dude on the street) so their SMV is still higher but their RMV is way lower.
