It's an interesting thought that some of the happiest people in the world probably don't use porn often, and some of the unhappiest likely view it daily.

I think people just need to feel more in control of their choices when it comes to porn. It shouldn't feel like a compulsion.

I think porn is fine in the same way that the occasional McDonald’s cheeseburger is fine.

But if you eat too many McDonald’s cheeseburgers, you get fat. Watch too much porn and you start having problems with real-life sex and attraction.

Also, a lot of men look to porn as a guide for sex. So when you’re having sex with a man you can tell he’s in his head trying to remember porn videos instead of paying attention to you and your body and his body and the sensations you’re both feeling.

In regards to AI, I think we’re heading to a point where men will turn to AI porn and give up on women altogether. Women will get frustrated and start experiencing the same crisis that men are experiencing now (lack of willing partners)…or women will be equally happy with Johnny Sins AI and a horse dildo.

I think relationships are doomed. I genuinely don’t believe anything can be done about it.

I used to be mostly neutral leading positive about porn, I didn't use it really and didn't really care that much if my partners did.

However, probably about 10 maybe even 15 years ago, I started to see it really affecting the men in my life. They found sex with actual women unsatisfactory because they themselves couldn't go for 30 minutes at a time and manage 12 different positions or whatever. That anal sex needs a bit of prep work if they're even interested in it, that causing a woman to gag will make her vomit on you, because that's what gagging is a warning of. They also found themselves disappointed with women's actual bodies in those positions, not realizing that even porn stars have folds in their tummies or that certain positions make funny noises almost inevitable.

The reality is that sex is human and fun and what you see in porn isn't real, but if you watch enough of it your expectations start changing, usually towards the unrealistic.

I also work with a lot of young people and young men are watching extremely explicit porn when they are very young boys and it's giving them completely fake ideas about what sex is going to be so their first sexual experiences are really disappointing. They can't keep it up or can't stay hard, or they demand that the other teenage girl do stuff that is more advanced or degrading - and then they're angry when it doesn't work out like they thought it would.

Of course don't get me started on the death grip issue.

It's caused me to rethink my feelings about porn. At this point I think we'd all be much better off if there was no online porn or online dating. Bring back matchmakers and dirty novels or paintings as the most graphic thing you get and maybe we'd all be better off.

Porn isn’t just human rights exploitation for people involved in the making, it also has a big footprint on the mental aspects of the consumer. Watching porn triggers some sort of an excitation in brain because of dopamine release (kind of why it feels good) and brain remembers that afterwards as well. And after the dopamine crash, it tends to go back to that state of excitation and that’s what in a crux leads to this”porn addiction” but when porn isn’t around, this longing leaves its footprint in the brain and tend to takeover your thoughts when you’re in a real relationship with a real human being, but expecting to do THOSE unjustifiably things you saw in porn. This rewiring in the brain has proven to be very effective in mending how people think. It’s almost sad there is no specific law for the consumption of this kind of media when it has a direct affect on people and their personal relationships. The entry of AI in this scenario is only going to lead to extremism in this aspect to take over. Since there isn’t any real human involved, the current laws don’t prohibit it from being consumed/produced.

Let's be honest, the "anti porn" crowd tends to be women. Now, there are "ethical" porn companies that exist but the same women never mention these. The real gripe comes from the fact that men get easy access to female nudity when in fact they'd prefer that access to female nudity is difficult, so they can further use it as leverage against men.

It still appeals to the darker fantasies of men and influences an unhealthy view of sex. Whether the people in porn are being exploited or not won’t change that. Maybe if it were limited to just videos of real couples just recording themselves having sex, it would at least improve the situation. But that would mean less views on the videos and less money for the porn companies. So I don’t see that ever happening unless there was regulation made on it.

Exploitation is just one reason I'm against it. Even if that issue were resolved, I would still be against porn. Porn shouldn't exist at all. Producing or consuming porn in inherently immoral just as beating your spouse or robbing an elderly person at gunpoint is. Legalizing porn was a mistake TBH, though I realize that it's not realistic to ban it in Western societies in the foreseeable future. People should have their sexual needs met through marriage.

No. The exploitation issue is increasingly less important and was never of paramount importance. As we all degenerate, any special damage done to women decreases. Also, newer forms of porn that are growing in popularity are not necessarily exploitive of any of the participants.

The main issue is what porn does to its consumers. Always has been.

I would be against it as I'm against drugs or eating Macdonald's... it feels nice and there is no problem with doing it once in a while but it cannot continue to be seen as a normal daily activity because then it will have awful consequences on people.
