Romance is a thing you do after you get together. Too many dudes try “romancing” a girl before she even knows who he is. That’s cute in the movies but is cringe AF in real life. A romantic dinner or surprise flowers in a LTR is good. To the girl who just kinda knows you from Literature class?! Red flag.

If you’re upset because you couldn’t express romantic feelings for someone you’ve never met, and hasn’t even responded to you, you probably don’t see individual women as all that special either.

Can you give me examples of what you find romantic? The trends have changed but plenty of people out there still want to be romanced. I am a woman who dates all genders but mostly men, and I am generally not romantic or very sentimental so I had to learn how to be romantic because they were a romantic type. It took a bit of thoughtfulness but is relatively simple. Light a candle when you sit down crosslegged to eat pizza together; wrap their favorite candy bar with a bow and a sexy message; it's not rocket science and every individual has there own idea of it or there are people like me (there have always been people like me) who aren't necessarily looking for any romance.

Romance isn't transactional. Romance is something you do because you care about the person. Doing things to make your person feel special not if I do this you will have sex with me. If your intent is I will do this now give me sex or whatever like dude that's not romantic.. or using it as a manipulation tactic to be romantic but then don't feel the need once you got your desired result. Its something you should do always.

Romance is something sweet done to just show you think about, or appreciate your partner. Buying flowers because they like flowers. Shit I got mine a little gift at a con I went to just because I thought he would like it. Sure these kinds of things can result in sex but sex shouldn't be the main focus. Basically if it's just for sex and getting off it's prostitution with a few extra steps. But it should be about that person and making them happy.

Romantic is different than creepy. That's why it's a turn off.

Someone I just met being "romantic" is over-the-top, transactional, and creepy to me.

Someone I've known, or have met and been flirting with off and on, dialing up the romance and "shooting his shot" will be accepted if I'm interested in him, or politely rebuffed if I'm not. The romance isn't the issue here--it's my standards/level of attraction to the person/interest in them/interest in a relationship. They could be a great guy, but after getting to know them more, I find we aren't compatible. Many men don't like that explanation, and then double or triple down on the "romance," which of course I only perceive as creepy and possessive. It also ruins ANY chances of ANY type of relationship.

Be yourself. Be romantic, that's great! Just be tactful.

Dating today is primal. It's like the different between a cage fight with rules, and a street fight where someone might have a knife. The guy with the knife isn't complaining, because he will win in the end. And the other guy? Too bad. There are no rules today with regards to dating. Guys can date a girl for years and never commit. A girl can sleep with as many shady men as she wants and still require the "princess treatment" later on.

Romance is pretty much dead these days. It’s true. When people think that it’s okay to do only fans, prostitution, pornography, become a stripper etc, then yes romance is dead. Some people think it’s okay and no big deal to have sex on the first date with some stranger you matched with on a dating up or met in some other way. With a lot of casual sex and everything, or before marriage, teen pregnancies, handful of people becoming single parents at an early stage in young years, it basically sums it up quite well that yes romance is dead. It’s no longer seen as a thing of value where two people cherish the romantic moments between them. If someone’s honey than go pay a hooker some money.
