During WWII women were used as cheap labor in factories, but they were still expected to fulfill their role as mothers and wives.

It was not until the new technology of the Birth Control Pill that we see a truly opened sexual market place, and then a cultural shift to follow (easiest to see in betty friedan's 1963 book the feminine mystique).

While all men thought that they would benefit from this, the reality is that human behavior follows patterns. Half of the AWALT concept is understanding that women's attraction cues are generally consistent across the globe:

Tall, athletic, symmetric face, ambitious, high T, has money, leader of men, pre-selected by women, protector of loved ones, well dressed, socially intelligent, etc. (men are far more varied in interests than women, just look at the variety of pornography)

So naturally women now have a choice, and surprise, they go for what they like. This is clearly not an equal distribution, but actually creates a sort of luxury market. Just like with high heels, the more a woman has the smaller her dating pool becomes as her standards rise.

To use a high school metaphor, the cheerleader will not fuck the nerds, but the football QB will fuck the cheerleader, the chess club girl, the theater girl, the soccer girl, etc.

Even after cutting out the bottom 20% of men, most guys cannot measure up to women's unleashed hypergamy (again, call it standards, quality, whatever it takes for you to get the concept).

The interesting thing is that most women also clearly lose out, since the attractive men now have too much leverage and can pump and dump at their leisure. Bitch causing trouble? Replace her easily.

So we end up with a soft 3 tier system with a few guys at the top, a bunch of women in the middle fighting to pair off with the guys at the top, and a bunch of guys at the bottom who are dying of thirst. The beta guys who do land a girl end up walking on eggshells to not piss her off, which kills attraction. Divorce multiplies this effect.

Heartiste calls this the "embittered sexual marketplace" and suggests that the only correction will be a return to enforced monogamy.

I can see several other options that would serve as a long term solution.

The first is technology. Sexbots, testosterone suppressant pills, or something else. Doesn't really matter, its just a question of how long until some betas spend enough time in a lab to figure it out.

Second option is legal, with prostitution becoming a booming legal industry. Of course Daddy Government would be the best Pimp in existence, and this is the equivalent of Rome's bachelor tax.

Third option is social, with homosexuality and transgender numbers skyrocketing. These two are essentially the same concept, that men's lust and need for affection can be sated by other men.

Final option is religion. Islam or Mormonism actually encourage the guys at the top to take extra wives, and the guys at the bottom either wage jihad or just hope for a nice afterlife.
