What birth control method(s) has been highly effective and comfortable for you?

I’m sure this will be downvoted, but this is only my own personal experience.

Cycle tracking. I have never been on birth control, and my husband and I have unprotected sex regularly. I am really in tune with my body and I always know when I have entered my fertile window. If we have sex during this window, we use a condom. But outside of this window, we use no protection and sometimes pull out method and there has never been any issues.

Birth control pills can be really harmful to many women’s health and we are only fertile for 5 or so days per month

I tried the pill and ring (with condoms) in high school/college, both were awful for me. IUD + condoms through the rest of college/a little after college with my now-husband. Around when we got engaged, my IUD expired so I had it removed and decided to switch to Fertility Awareness Method (FAM). Have been using FAM since, at first to avoid pregnancy, then to conceive baby #1, then to avoid, then to conceive. Conceived on the first cycle with both babies. And since I’m now pregnant with baby #2, being pregnant is my current “birth control” lol.

I have loved using FAM. It gives me so much info on my health and body, it has made me and my husband more intentional about sex, we have sex in sync with my natural hormones which makes it so much better, and I feel soooo much better off hormonal birth control. I didn’t think I felt that bad on it at first, but when I got my IUD out, my acne cleared, my stomach was less bloated, I carried less tension in my abdomen/uterus area, my libido became higher, I had more energy, my hair and nails and skin looked healthier, my anxiety almost completely disappeared, and my irritability decreased a lot. I used TempDrop wearable BBT thermometer which I loved. Tracking my cycle also gave me a lot of peace and helped me organize my life working with my hormones. I loved doing it and can’t wait to get back to it after this baby is born!

FAM isn’t for everyone, but if you only need birth control for actual birth control; you are in a relationship/married to someone you love and trust; and you trust yourself to be diligent with the method, it is an amazing amazing amazing alternative to hormonal birth control and barrier options.

Fertility awareness method- if your cycles are regular. It has worked perfectly for me for 4.5 years. My alternative would be the Nuva ring.

If there’s anything I tell a woman i care about, it’s getting off the pill. It wrecks havoc on the body compared to its benefits.

This shouldn’t be a shock to anyone since the pill is just exogenous hormones at a superphysiological dose.

It alters brain chemistry and makes women prefer less masculine men (the pill tricks the body into thinking she’s pregnant 24 out of 30 days or whatever and thus provisioning is preferred).

IUD was really great for me - lasts 10 years - but insertion and removal are really uncomfortable and painful. Once it’s in, you don’t even think about it and you can’t feel it - if you don’t think you’ll remember a daily pill, and you want something long-term, it can be a really good option. They have hormonal and non hormonal versions.

I take a birth control pill and I'm really happy with it. It stabilizes my cycle, I have less cramps and less bleeding and if done right, it is one of the safest methods at all.

Daysy in combination with the FAM (fertility awareness method). I have to measure every morning, but my body does the rest and I LOVE how much I learned about myself.

My husband and I can't use hormonal birth control and/or condoms.

I use a beppy sponge, if my period timing is undoable (want to have sex, want to go to the sauna etc.).

I have a lot of hormonal issues so I take the hormonal combination birth control pill and it has been awesome for me. Really balances me out, but I know this isn't the case for everyone. I like it because it's non invasive and if I wanna decide to stop taking it then I don't have to book a Dr's appt and get something taken out, I can just discontinue it

I could not handle hormonal birth control. I did the fertility awareness method and condoms around any fertile days (the first part of my cycle for the most part).

I could not handle hormonal birth control. The physical side effects were one thing but the mental and emotional were much worse. I have the copper iud now and I love it, I don’t have to think about it and once in a while I go get an ultrasound for a peace of mind even though it’s necessary. Insertion was not easy but afterwards it was all good and I barely think about it.

I took pills for years and years and i felt safe until a point where i got really sick of the idea of taking hormones into my body. Since then condoms only. I also learnt that becoming pregnant isnt that duper simple

I believe sex is for marriage and that it is God's job to open and close the womb. My husband and I are leaving it up to God how many little ones we are blessed with. And truthfully hormonal birth control can be very damaging to the female body.

Hormonal implant in my arm, insertion wasn't painful just an odd feeling...recovery was a day or two with a bandage on and then it covers me for 3 years. Did lead to me not having periods, different for everyone but that's an added bonus for me.

I've had it for 8 years now (got it renewed) and the doctor told me if I take it out then my fertility returns pretty soon after so I can plan around when is best for me :)

FAM is the only one I’ve ever utilized. The other options didn’t feel like a good fit for me and I knew I wanted kids 1-2 years after marriage.

I had an IUD (which is known to be the most effective BC you can have) and still got pregnant. So, no matter what method you use, keep in mind that nothing is 100% effective. Because I don’t plan on having kids whatsoever (I gave my son up for adoption), I decided to have my fallopian tubes removed while undergoing a c-section, which is pretty darn effective lol

Withdrawal (alone or in combo with fertility awareness), condoms alone, fertility awareness with condoms or withdrawal.

Very fertile when I wanted kids (first cycle every time for getting pregnant)- no other oops (even though I kind of want one sometimes, LOL)

I was on the pill for years, got off of it for a while, and when I tried to go back on, the mood swings I got from missing taking the pill even by an hour or so were way too intense, so I stopped.

I’m currently on year 3 of a 5-year hormonal IUD. My boyfriend and I have discussed taking it out before we get married to let my body return to baseline.

Best part of the IUD though - no period! 😋

Hormonal IUD, lessened my PMS and menstrual symptoms, I bleed to the point of constant battle with anemia, now I hardly get any period at all, and I don't need to worry about taking a pill everyday.

I have a copper IUD because I didn’t want to do anything hormonal. The insertion was very painful. My periods used to be close to painless before, but now I get lots of cramps. I have had for a year. I will see a gynecologist soon to get it checked out. I might remove it and go back to condoms and be more careful of my fertile window so we can avoid sex in that time. I like that copper IUD lasts so long and doesn’t have hormones but I am getting sick of the pain.

Natural cycles!! I love and it’s 100% hormone free, plus it feels incredible to be in tune with my own natural menstrual cycle (no pun intended lol) just be sure to use condoms, a diaphragm, or abstain during your red days.
