Techcrunch and HuffPo share ownership. Enough said.

Oh yeah: Brace for another flux of new comers. Nothing works better than bad mouthing. Can somebody please put in a link in their comments?

[–]hunotquite 11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let's not worry guys.

As long as what makes a man a good human being and what makes a man sexually attractive are two disjoint sets, TRP will live and be followed.

The problem that people have with TRP isnt that it doesnt work, its that it does.

[–]Endorsed Contributorgekkozorz 65 points66 points67 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The surge of RP hate following that mega popular EMSK post basically boiled down to the following: "Okay, we're finally acknowledging that TRP tactics might help you get good results from women and have more success from your relationships... but it requires you to be a big abusive meanie, so you shouldn't use them."

Their best advice for relationships basically boils down to using BP tactics and hoping they can achieve RP results.

[–]AngraMainyuu 43 points44 points45 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Simple cognitive dissonance. They've acknowledged that it just might work, while at the same time admitting the tactics just don't fit their into their moral paradigms. Tough shit folks, this is real life. Its not pretty, it don't always smell nice, and it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of soft people. The work is long and hard, but it just so happens to be the only way reality agrees with. We didn't make the rules, we just realized what the rules actually were and learned to do things the right way.

all is fair in love and war, just watch mean girls, women lie and manipulate openly

[–]3NO_LAH_WHERE_GOT 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Mean girls is a great movie. I wrote an analysis of it once using some of the ribbonfarm Gervais Principle terminology: http://www.visakanv.com/1000/0102-mean-girls-a-tentativepreliminary-analysis/

mega popular EMSK post

We have been having so much more Gilding on this sub reddit after that post.

[–]Mightyskunk 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Except, the most abuse I've ever gotten has been from hateful white knights. Seriously, they're sociopathic. They constantly talk about killing people. Usually anyone who is non-BP.

[–]GrantNexus 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

People say that it don't be like it is but it do.

[–]KnightOfDark 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

It's also the fact that TRP would work just as well without misogynistic generalizations such as "men experience unconditional love, women don't". The issue is that you have to be able to sift the rubbish from the actual good advice. There will be critics who cannot, and therefore view TRP as a "misogynist hate site". There will be proponents who cannot, and therefore adopt misogynistic or abusive concepts into their own worldview.

In my opinion, TRP would be better served with ruthless pragmatism, but I understand that the vitriol and anger for many serves a cathartic function. It would, perhaps, have been ideal to split the two into seperate subs when TRP was smaller.

I am an empiricist and a rationalist. I try to avoid making conclusions based on faith or ideology. If a feminist has a good argument, I will listen to it. If a masculinist has a good argument, I will listen to it. Due to the human propensity towards groupthink, I will always argue for discussion and inclusivity rather than isolationism.

As an example, the theory of Hypergamy - which TRP has adopted - was first proposed by feminists in the eighties as a remnant of the patriarchal system of earlier generations. As several studies have shown, hypergamous tendencies are directly proportional to gender inequality, supporting the cultural thesis.

[–]nrjk 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Problem is, they blame it on the nebulous and unfalsifiable concept of patriarchy.

Feminists can argue the existence and value/non-value of hypergamy in society, but throwing ALL men under the umbrella of blame is where they lose me.

[–]KnightOfDark 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

throwing ALL men under the umbrella of blame is where they lose me.

Yes. I would argue that current hypergamy is a byproduct of a past social paradigm lingering because of a delayed cascade effect; that is, hypergamy exists in the modern society because women grow up seeing and emulating their mothers, aunts, and so on when they marry men of higher value - a natural, statistical consequence of a society in which the average value of a man is greater than the average value of a woman.

The same argument could apply to other gender roles - stereotypes are perpetuated as humans are prone to emulate the behaviour of our parents. Hence, problems may well reverberate for several generations after they have been addressed.

Problem is, they blame it on the nebulous and unfalsifiable concept of patriarchy.

As I pointed out further down the thread, feminists tend to reject a biological explanation on principle, just like anti-feminists tend to reject a cultural explanation on principle. Both constitute a problem.

The understated point of your post is an assumption of gender inequality

No, the understated point of my post is an assumption that some countries have higher levels of equality than others. For example, Turkey is less equal than the United States, which in turn is less equal than Finland. Is your criticism that Gender Gap Index misrepresents equality? If so, why? I am genuinely interested in having my views challenged, that is why I browse subreddits like TRP.

It is important to remember that the biological thesis and the cultural thesis are not mutually exclusive; this is what I meant by 'inclusivity'. TRP largely ignores the cultural thesis, while feminists largely ignore the biological thesis. Both must be considered to get the full picture. The articles I linked support the cultural thesis - do you have anything similar that suggests a biological origin of hypergamy? If so, I would be interested in reading that.

which the only current evidence I have seen is for in the direction of the insufficiency of the power of men .

Just like there is credible evidence of a bias against men in the US judicial system, there is credible evidence of a bias against women in the US university system.

This seems like a fluff piece that was forced on TechCrunch by their shared ownership with HuffPo. Notice it talks about hate and misogyny and only at the end it's like 'Oh hey we could use facebook to tell who is moral!' to make it 'tech related'...

Not surprising. A red pill guy tried posting over at hacker news a week or two ago. Despite being polite and civil, he was still downvoted into oblivion and promptly banned by the moderators. Everybody over there saw it as a victory and celebrated. I, on the other hand, found a new contempt for everybody I have to do business with in Silicon Valley.

[–][deleted] 72 points73 points74 points 12 years ago (34 children) | Copy Link

It's sad, really. As a fellow tech entrepreneur I also have to put up with extremely pussified men regularly.

Guys in tech are so oblivious when it comes to women.

[–]Scott555 46 points47 points48 points 12 years ago (28 children) | Copy Link

People in tech are oblivious, period. Have worked across the full spectrum of society, from becoming intimately familiar with everyone from ghetto shop-rat, the music business, to the trades to medicine to ivory tower IT operations for enterprise-scale business.

The most socially retarded and off-balance people I've known have been medical doctors and high-skill IT folk. Some kind of cognitive trade-off necessary to develop that deep of a skill set or something.

[–]68696c6c 15 points16 points17 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some kind of cognitive trade-off necessary to develop that deep of a skill set or something.

Programmer here. In my personal experience, I have had to sacrifice social development (friends, partying, free time, etc) to do well at my career. Depending on where you start from, that sort of sacrifice can leave you anywhere from a little socially under-developed to total weirdo. Like any job, who you know matters a lot, so you end up making friends with people who are skilled programmers in order to get access to opportunities. The really skilled programmers are invariably weird in one way or another and that ends up rubbing off on you.

Also, to be good at programming, you have to think logically. It has to become natural to do that. People and their feelings often not very logical, but understanding them is critical to being socially adept. In that way, becoming a good programmer ends up cost a bit of your social ability. Again, depending on how much social ability you started with, you may come out more or less ok, or completely asocial.

Just my two cents.

[–][deleted] 49 points50 points51 points 12 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Not necessarily. I've known some alpha programmers and I've known some serious nutjob programmers, but most are somewhere in between. I think the real issue is a combination of mathematical logic and hubris. Both of which are required for programming, so you do have a point there.

Programming is logical. It makes sense. It's where they excel, where they are the alpha. It's comforting. The longer you stay in that comfort zone, the harder it is to step out of it and deal with reality. They don't like reality because they're low status. So they project. They imagine the world they would rather live in and try to make it a reality. Instead of changing themselves to suit the world, they try to change the world to suit them.

They desperately want a world of equality and feminism to be true because it rewards them with high status. So they try to make it true. After all, they have the hubris to make entire realities out of zeros and ones. Overcoming human nature should be easy in comparison. It isn't, but most programmers are smart enough to rationalize anything. And if you can rationalize anything, why not a scenario in which you're top dog?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'm an introvert myself and I agree wholeheartedly with the first link (and the first link only). The problem is, most Techies (and by techies I mean both technical managers and programmers) are mostly extroverts.

It's true that 20-30 years ago, most techies were introverts. The job favored people who could happily work nights without seeing another living soul because that's the only time they could make changes to the mainframe without interrupting other people's work.

For the past decade, managers have been hiring programmers who can work in a large group. The idea was to break a large program into small pieces and have many people work on it together to get it done faster. Being able to coordinate and work with a large group of people became a necessity for the job.

Modern tech companies make their environments actively hostile to introverts. Open office plans. Pair coding. All new designs and features must be reviewed and discussed with the entire engineering department, in a meeting.

The job now favors extroverts who can think logically. As a result, that's exactly who gets hired for these positions. Everything I said in my previous post is still true, but apply that to R selected individuals instead of K selected individuals.

Choosy programmers choose vim. ;)

I've gone through some of your past posts as well. It's good to talk to a fellow introvert, especially one who reads koanic and xsplat. Ever read any of Tex Arcane's stuff? His theories on the Neanderthal blew my mind.

What is this?

[–]1PrinceofSpades 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Instead of changing themselves to suit the world, they try to change the world to suit them.

Truly, one of mankind's biggest flaws. Well spoken.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And one of its greatest merits, if you consider the many great creators that succeeded.

[–]1PrinceofSpades 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

An alpha among alphas can change the world, for better or worse, into something more their image.

I don't care how well you understand and embody TRP philosophy, or seduction, or any other things that make you more of an alpha man. The chance of the next Alexander the Great or Genghis Khan being among us is extremely slim. They function as great role models, but they had less doubt than any of us on here. The fact that we even browse this subreddit puts us below that kind of level. I would wager that almost all of us are destined for great things if we put the work into it. That doesn't mean we will go on to forever leave our mark in the pages of history.

However, on a smaller scale, such as in one's own marriage/family life, to change their environment to suit them is technically what biology dictates for the man/husband/father role to do. Changing where you stand in your workplace, or even how you decide to earn your payments, is also changing your environment to better suit yourself. This isn't a flaw, it is a very apparent strength.

However, to many with the ability to do this tend to attempt to extend it far beyond what it should be extended towards. At this point, it runs the risk of becoming a flaw. The world would have likely been better off if Hitler didn't attempt what he did. And he is someone who definitely succeeded in changing the world to suit him, at least for a time. If no one attempted changing the entire world but instead stuck to changing the environment around them, it is likely that there would be no Alexander the Greats, or Napoleons, or Hitlers. Whether that is a flaw or a merit is merely up to interpretation, but I personally choose to believe that those who change the world to suit themselves often are incapable of seeing the whole picture, because they are so driven by their own visions, thus resulting in more negative than positive outcomes.

After all, wasn't the feminist movement, in essence, a group of people changing the world to suit themselves? Every man on this subreddit understands the then unforeseen implications of those actions with some varying degree of severity.

[–]Mightyskunk 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You've clearly been thinking about this. I like your analysis.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wanted to say the same. Who would've thought that TRP would enable discussion like that? Areas of everyday life that go completely overlooked by people who can't relate to each other, yet when you see it, you can't help but feel like you gained a little more perspective today.

And they are the drivers of the cybernetic revolution that's coming, and that will change humanity to the point that their vision of reality might come true...

The technological civilization we live in is amazing and there are amazing things to come but we all still eat, drink, breathe, shit and fuck and code nerds in the valley won't change that.

Except they will, they are, they did. You see, the whole TRP is based on the notion that people are (currently) driven by their biological programming, by their instincts rather than by rationality. But what happens when that biology starts being changed? DNA re-writing, cybernetics (implants/prothesis), BCI, all these things will fundamentally change what being human means.

Now the question comes: as a red piller, will you adapt to that new society, even if it will be a rational blue pill society, or will you remain clung to the "old ways"?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists are afraid of the future because it takes such immense, child-level insecurity for other women to become feminists, along with the "If I can't be happy, nobody can" mentality. However, as much as we might joke about it, I think the internet is actually connecting us better, and it's easier for insecure men and women to see that they're not alone, which lets them realize they don't need to apply a label to themselves to feel like a regular human.

TRP doesn't adapt to society, society adapts to TRP. The core of TRP is that it's an uncomfortable truth that women can be very accurately generalized, that women always have had and always will have relatively constant differences (including thought process) compared to men, and that discussing those differences allows the discussing people to understand the dynamics better.

Since when have school smarts equated to social understanding? I know plenty of girls who got straight As through high school and college who are dumb as bricks when it comes to anything outside of a textbook. Some of them are even heading off to medical school.

School work is just manual labor for your brain. It is the way the human mind works. You can train and strengthen neural connections that equate to modern-day "knowledge," which is really just a large measure of memorization. Yes, you have to fall above some IQ level in order to do this, but in all honesty I would say 75-90% of humans are capable of excelling in the education game if they aren't lazy about it, actually study and care, etc. Most of that motivation stems from family (broken families produce broken kids) and Socioeconomic Status (Less opportunities, worse teachers, etc.) though.

Being intelligent regarding the way the world is, the way people are, is different. You can't memorize a person, but you can get to a point where you can predict their actions based on averages. This type of intelligence is like a higher level of "street smarts," and is exactly what this subreddit is about. It teaches a few truths out of the many that exist regarding the way humanity actually is.

I refer to this truth of us as "a bunch of monkeys who spend all of their time trying to convince themselves and others they aren't, in fact, monkeys." Really, its just a way to explain to less 'awakened' people (i.e. blue pills) without throwing up too many 'red pill devil' flags. Its a simple way of saying that thousands of years of biology and evolution will beat out social trends 100% of the time. If feminism is creating more betas then ever before, then the true alphas will stand out more, pull more mates then ever before, and improve the gene pool in the long run. At least, that's what the evolutionary traits of the past would point to. Things are definitely more complicated now then they ever have been before for a wide number of reasons.

But yeah, case and point: school smarts =/= street smarts. Though it usually takes an intelligent individual to achieve high levels of both.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

As a non english speaking person, you really put my thoughts into words. I have a PhD in physics and I always say that all it takes is dedication and work, no so much of intelligence per see. I was raised in europe, in a period polluted by feminism, politically correctness, etc... and to get out of this brainwashing machine and reset your mind (ie overcome the anger of being lied during your entire life) it takes a lot of curiosity (to first read/hear materials you are used to read), open-mindedness (to accept it), and ultimately some peace of mind to not go ballshit crazy and not break the head of the next feminist/liberal/lefty idiot you will talk to.

In my countless "discussion" with my feminist, lefty, liberal acquaintance I realize something is that those people never ever challenge their ideas, they always read stuff that comfort them into ideas they already have. They will never read a book advocating the opposite of what they think. I do that all the time and I realize this is a big part of the intelligence: try to understand concepts and ideas that are not only foreign to you but also clearly challenge your system of belief and see what can you extract from them.

You can say whatever you want about TheRedPill but it's a very interesting place to challenge your mind when you are a bluepill guy. After realizing the lies many of us have been fed our entire life about women we can then jump to other subject of society we've been lied too, then you are in whole lot of trouble... That's why I think there should be a subreddit that extend the scope of TheRedPill, not only about women but about everything in life, politics, history, etc...

[–]1PrinceofSpades 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm very glad to hear I could help summarize that for you. I've always been what you could call someone who skates by whenever possible regarding education, but there have been a few times where I knew that wouldn't fly, so I would sit down, get dedicated for ~a school year or so, and make perfect grades. That alone is enough to write into a university / graduate school application essay to make it seem like you "figured it out" or some other such nonsense they want to hear, and allow you to continue forwards. People who always have that dedicated switch on can go as far as they want to in the majority of fields, without having a bloody clue what the real world outside of that field is like.

Regarding intelligence: I personally believe that a true sign of intelligence is fully understanding both sides of any issue / argument / conflict / disagreement / etc. and making your own conclusions only once you have considered that both sides are potentially both right and wrong to some level, for a variety of reasons.

Aye. I've rolled rank one in my entire grade for a semester and also been in the bottom 10% for another back in my high school days. Really goes to show that grades are a terrible measure of intelligence.

edit: I'll include a fun story, just because. I think I honestly figured that out when an ex of mine looked me straight in the face and told me she was smarter than me (she was 18 when I was 21, too) fairly casually over dinner one time. I actually busted up laughing so hard, a waiter came by because they thought I was going to choke. Once I finally calmed down, I managed to prove her wrong and get her to admit it before I even finished my meal, simply because I'm an asshole like that.

While she was working primarily under the assumption of her nearly 4.0 average run throughout her high school days, the humor really came from the fact that she had no more than a semester at the local community college's worth of experience at the time (with good reason, she was making 15-20 dollars an hour doing numerous babysitting gigs for her rich as fuck neighborhood and wanted some extra money before going off to a real school), while I had been at a real university for the past 3 years at least... somewhat... applying myself. Case and point, I didn't even have to extend my argument much farther beyond even the lessons I had been learning at university (I might have gone overboard if I really started tapping into the next level societal understanding stuff) to show her she likely wasn't capable of understanding them even if she was in that classroom environment. Your classic case of basic bitch type of girl in every way, and definitely not one of the smartest girls I've dated by any stretch, but hey, she was attractive and we got along well.

In my countless "discussion" with my feminist, lefty, liberal acquaintance I realize something is that those people never ever challenge their ideas, they always read stuff that comfort them into ideas they already have. They will never read a book advocating the opposite of what they think.

Absolutely correct. I hear preaching about tolerance, etc. all of the time, yet when even the slightest deviation from groupthink is detected, the deviator is "downvoted" to oblivion. Liberals are actually just as closed minded as evangelical Christians, they just don't realize it . . .

Tech smarts =/= Schools smarts

Tech smarts is a kind of street smarts. The alpha techies didn't get their skills out of a textbook. The school smarts is just a prerequisite.

[–]1PrinceofSpades 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True enough. I was mostly referring to the people who excel at the prerequisites going on to work the types of careers that /u/Scott555 was referring to. Having once been in pursuit of becoming a doctor before realizing it was in no way worth the life tradeoff in the modern day, I know quite a few doctors who really were more clueless when it came to women than even my beta self was back in high school. Knowing what I do now, it all has sort of fallen into place.

[–]Beardsman2 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can confirm. About 25% (at least) of medical doctors are retarded or fucked up in some way.

Telling them that logic does not apply the same way in social situations; you have to observe what people do even more than what they say, especially with women.

There are logical paths, just you have to sort through the layers of self and other deception.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The only real way to convince anyone of anything is to lead by example. They will see you getting fit and successful with women, they'll either turn into jealous haters, and fuck them if they do, or they will come to you to learn of your wisdom. Then you can impart concepts little at a time until they become red pill without even realizing.

If TRP is hateful because it looks at human interactions in a self-honest way without the tint of rose, then I'll gladly be labeled that way.

[–]questionull 14 points15 points16 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Calling some group a "hate group" is a way of trying to shut it down. It is itself a form of hatred. Hence the expression "Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil."

[–]DexterousRichard 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

As I always say regarding the labeling of rational thought and analysis as "hate" if they don't like the result:

Disdain is not the same as hate. Not in the slightest.

[–]questionull 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What's the difference between hate and disdain?

[–]dvidsilva 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

disdain: the feeling that someone or something is unworthy of one's consideration or respect; contempt.

Hate is a consideration or respect, it usually implies constantly thinking about the subject, disdain is a state where you don't even waste time on it.

[–]questionull 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah, that's a nice distinction, thank you.

I came across a quote from Voltaire yesterday: "Madness is to think of too many things in succession too fast, or of one thing too exclusively.”

Your definition of hatred falls into the latter category ('or of one thing too exclusively') and is therefore a form of madness according to Voltaire.

I have never seen a better example of someone trying to sound smart and deep when he/she had no fucking idea what they are talking about. He mentions TRP as if he is going to explain a connection with Stormfront and claims erroneously that Eliot Rodgers was somehow affiliated with us (despite having 2 main threads explaining what a pathetic little shit he was...) and he gets me thinking "well ok, I'm interested, let's see how he's going to explain thing."

But then he just ramps up the psycho babble, taking an extract from some barely relevant MIT publication about eigenvectors. I looked up the text and googled some terms I didn't know, and the philosophy piece has nothing to do with his question of "why would people join TRP."

A better question would be "Yo TechCrunch / gawker / huffpo, why are you so hellbent on driving more viewership here. We don't want it, but fuck it, we'll take it.

Feminists did everything they could to politicize his actions for their cause, they threw everything they could at the manosphere and kept what stuck. Elliot Rodgers killing 3 women and 6 people was an intentional wording to avoid saying men could be victims. When that didn't stick, they started the /#yesallwomen as a response to the manosphere's /#notallmen. It's a war over language and thought and enough people blindly hate TRP that you could say we claim Jews were behind the holocaust and people would say "sounds about right for them."

If it sticks, they run with it until people can remember nothing else about the topic.

[–]colovick[🍰] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've avoided the topic in person, but I came to that conclusion here and it was echoed in other people's comments... A "rights group" exists to improve the standing of whatever division of people they back. These people are making their livelihood off of improving women's standings vs men and many have no intention of changing causes just because they've run out of reasonable arguments because money is still flowing and power is still shifting in their direction... Funnily enough, once the balance shifts back to neutral levels, you'll see the hardcore feminists fighting harder than ever, even while every reasonable person jumps ship.

[–]1PaulRivers10 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A "rights group" exists to improve the standing of whatever division of people they back.

Oh man - that's a really good description. If the group is genuinely oppressed, they are fighting for equality. Problem is, when they achieve it a lot of times the group continues it's fight - but it's fight has been "more power for our group" all along. In the context of the group being genuinely oppressed (slaves back in the day), they are fighting for equality. In the context of having achieved equal power they're fighting to exert power themselves over other groups.

Funnily enough, once the balance shifts back to neutral levels, you'll see the hardcore feminists fighting harder than ever, even while every reasonable person jumps ship.

I hope this is how it goes. I've certainly seen, for example, that on my facebook feed girls posting feminist articles don't get many "likes" any more and far far fewer supporting comments.

A snapshot of that thread on TRP where someone linked to his video as "some beta blue pill guy", explained how extremely blue pill and wrong his thinking was and how it was clearly fucking him up, a whole week or so before the shooting spree, should be the standard reaction to any time we get compared to him.

The answer is very simple - but you won't like it. Elliot Rodgers spends most of his "manifesto" railing against feminism. Which is pretty much most of what goes on here, no matter how many times people say "TRP is about self improvement, not hating women". You only have to scan the titles of the first page of threads to see that TRP and Elliot Rodgers are very much in alignment. I read Stormfront regularly, too (I am not a racist, I read it purely for lulz) and the exact same thing happens there, every time some neo Nazi piece of human scum shoots up a load of children or whatever. The first thing they all rush to say is "He wasn't one of us - we only advocate peaceful resistance" or some other bullshit.

No because that in no way was Hitler's defining characteristic. In fact I don't even think it was particularly widely known and Hitler certainly never made speeches about it or anything. The most obvious thing about both ER and TRP, to the casual observer, is the anti-feminist stance.

I did, he tries, fails and hates on alphas. The fact he tried to improve himself at one point doesn't change that he rejected self improvement as an option and railed against TRP like feminists do.

He never tried BEING a feminist though, did he? I think that would be the "polar opposite" people are trying to paint him as. Calling TRP a hate group is absolutely absurd. TRP is the exact opposite of a hate-- it is actually a strategy for making everybody happier because it counters the bigotry and isolationism of modern liberal/feminist culture. Feminism doesn't make women happy; it makes them miserable, lonely, bitter, angry, and sexually frustrated. that's why so many women reject feminism. TRP simply gives men a strategy for escaping the prison of Feminist cultural statism.

[–]AngraMainyuu 48 points49 points50 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Calling TRP a hate group is absolutely absurd. TRP is the exact opposite of a hate-- it is actually a strategy for making everybody happier

I used to say this, but after a learning a little more I understand why they call this a hate group. Its not because we are a hate group, but the thing about TRP is that it absolutely doesn't say a damned thing about treating people "nicely". Rather than picturing a domineering asshole, picture a strong stoic male, who isn't patient, and doesn't put up with excuses and second chances. Society tells you to "get along" with people and "keep the peace". RP tells you fucking regulate the situation instead of trying to "talk it out" or "share your feelings". Society is soft, easily provoked and frightened. RP men come off aggressive, domineering, and disrespectful. RP encourages you to actually protect, provide, and serve your woman, but in a way that society doesn't seem to understand.

Classic example is how men need to the the emotional rock for women to stay balanced on. What this involves is calling them out for their over-reaction, remaining detached from their drama, and dismissive of their petty worrying. Seems cold, but really if done right, you're helping her stay on the road instead of over correcting all of the time. You become the breaker for the waves she's trying to make, and you bring her back to the still waters again. BP would tell you to listen, understand, discuss, hug, buy her some ice cream and let her cry about the new car her best friend just bought. Thosee things are friendly in our society, and that's all they can deal with.

In my opinion that's what makes TRP look like a hate group. Alpha's don't give a fuck, and that offends people.

Women hate TRP as a brand... However every woman wants a TRP man.

You want to know why? It's because when they look in the mirror and go "Do I really want a man who (insert red pill/alpha qualities)?" and being completely honest with themselves they cant say no and they hate themselves for it so they project that hate onto TRP because they realize that like every other woman... they are bound to the truth that AWALT and they aren't some special snowflake.

[–]thewrightstuff88 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

its all about protecting their ego, doing whatever they can to not associate themselves with something that will decrease their perceived value, ie. the truth that women love a man with red pill qualities but know that publicly and internally acknowledging that will make her feel and worse, be seen as a slut

Lately there have been a lot of posts regarding feminism and female solipsism in the top posts. Also the large influx of newly pill swallowers have led to a large amount of people in the phase that they're angry with women. It's absolutely not misogynist, but it's enough for a website like huff.

I'd really like to see more posts regarding game, self improvement, ltr tips, field reports etc. This is a group for men. Men don't bitch all day about unfairness; we deal with it or go somewhere else.

TRP gets labeled as a hate group because it doesn't self identify as a nice group.

That's really what it boils down to. TRP accepts anger as one of the TRP phases, and TRP does bother self-censoring it's language for those with delicate sensibilities.

Ergo TRP is a bunch of bigoted baby eating shit lords.

You need to understand the pressures journalists work under. Typically they get some tens of minutes to write a story. This allows for only the most superficial research. Combine that with pressures to produce emotive stories that generate hits, and this is what you get.

Unfortunately the human brain is configured to believe everything it is told. Only later, if there is a reason, will people question what they are told.

[–]dvidsilva 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Whatever.

Part of the red pill process is hatred. You have to hate something to seek out this advice. Be that women, yourself, the disney movies that lied to you, feminism, or whatever. When you recognize the way the world works and it isn't at all how people told you it did, your natural reaction is to get angry. "Well what the fuck?"

I remember when I first started realizing what I was doing was not working at all. I stumbled across the Black Phillip show, and it was like adding a spark to kindling. I would listen to that show and just get angry. But as has been mentioned, that is just part of the process. Eventually, I got over it and realized that the root of that hatred was being told bullshit that doesn't work for my entire life. It's like hitting your head against a wall at the behest of someone else. At some point you either realize it's not working or you give up, lest you beat yourself to death.

I wasn't mad at Women, I was mad at the mountains of bullshit that had been dumped on me since day 1 and had led me down completely the wrong path. If I believed it, then why wouldn't Women? Especially since they don't get to experience how completely fucking wrong that shit is, so they have no reason to doubt it.

From our pre-redpill angle we see a douchebag, cocky, showoff, rich guy who pulls girls like nothing. From the Women's side they see a confident, charismatic, strong, attractive dude who likes them for who they are inside. Then you ask "What the fuck is that about?" only to get yelled at for being a manipulative, machiavellian, sociopath, who tries to trick girls into bed by being nice to them. Then you get the "real nice guys" talk, and sooner or later you come to realize that everything you know is wrong. "Real nice guys" are just alphas in motion. And this "nice" thing that you've been doing because everyone told you to is essentially cutting your own balls off.

[–]human_bean_ 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is exactly it. I am not mad at women being women. I am mad at everyone lying to me and by consequence making my life awful. Now that I know though, I have nobody to blame but myself. In that sense red pill frees me from the the shackles of dependency and makes me independent and responsible. For some reason other people find this morally reprehensible. The reasons are obvious. They do not want to admit the truth and be a better person. They want to lie, manipulate, whine, procrastinate. They want to make me a useful, clueless patsy. I say: fuck that.

[–]dvidsilva 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can confirm, tried to be nice to many girls only to later start having them ask me questions about the dudes they liked.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love how the author tries to be all scientific, but then pulls this out of his ass:

...the Internet allows people who would otherwise have been loner outcasts to band together.

Circa 99% of the time this is a very good thing. The other 1%, though, gives us communities like “The Red Pill,” the misogynist hate site which became infamous after Elliot Rodger’s killing spree in Santa Barbara earlier this year.

If Jon Evans, the TC hack that wrote that piece would point to some evidence of this claim, that would be cool.

[–]Endorsed ContributorWe_Are_Legion 52 points53 points54 points 12 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

You know, if Elliot Rodgers was such a big admirer of the manosphere, why was his posting history online almost entirely on PUAHate.com and bodybuilding.com forums (where he also expressed similar sentiments)? Why is it that his manifesto suggests in utmost detail how he'd love to kill people like the kind that RPers profess to try to become?

If anything, we're almost as much targets of his hate as women.

EDIT: I went ahead and googled it, as I doubted whether I was misinformed or the journalist. Most articles touting Rodgers as evidence against RP really no interest in establishing the link to the manosphere in the first place, they just use Rodgers to launch onto a politically motivated introduction to the manosphere(in fact, please post an article that does and correct me if I'm wrong, I would like to read it). Unsurprisingly, the few people that are actually interesting in at least trying to present evidence for the link itself, is... you guessed it... manosphere writers:

http://illusionofsanity.com/blog/?p=1234

Even if you consider it a biased source, there are enough objective pieces of evidence there to tear apart the credibility of these journalists. They are demonstrably shown to be outright lying and painting things a certain way for people who don't know better enough to correct them.

Sad state of journalism.

EDIT 2: The Washington Post references some of his lingo to establish the link. But isn't that to be expected from a PUAhate.com member, a community that obsessively railed against PUAs? Additionally all of his is used in a highly ironic way. e.g. "...For I am the true alpha male." The Red Pill/Manosphere's usage of alpha and beta are for describing traits, isn't it? It doesn't fit at all enough to be conclusive evidence like TWP makes it out. How do journalists get away with this? In fact, I think its almost a bannable offence on RP to rant off with "A/B" as Rodgers does it.

EDIT 3: /r/theRedpill had a reaction thread to his rantings 3 days before he shot people(you can't even pretend we're backtracking. if anything, we predicted that having hopeless males with no direction is a risk). http://redditlog.com/snapshots/622317

Elliot rogers hated alphas. He bitched constantly about them. In one rant going off about an indian guy with a bmw being a POS because he has a hot girlfriend that Elliot couldn't get.

Btw newbie here to trp

[–]Endorsed Contributorgekkozorz 25 points26 points27 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Elliot Rogers calling himself an "alpha" is akin to a landwhale calling herself "beautiful" or a feminist who is neurotically offended by everything calling herself "strong and independent."

They don't actually fit the definitions of those words, they are simply reappropriating the meanings of those words to fit themselves because they're narcissists who are afraid to look at their own faults.

[–]DexterousRichard 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Rogers's death was caused by one simple problem. He was completely and utterly blue pill, and refused to recognize the falsehood of his worldview.

He rejected RP because he wanted to think he was already a perfect catch for women. He wanted desperately to think that it was their fault rather than his that he was failing. It was precisely his refusal to accept RP that led I his downfall.

[–]dancingwithcats 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

We were infamous way before that Elliot Rodgers kid lost his shit. Mentioning him is a passive aggressive way of conflating/associating his actions with TRP without expressly stating TRP was the cause. The funny thing about that little manipulative device is its total bullshit because Elliot Rodgers never posted here and was never a member here, he was on PuaHate, a site that has nothing to do with this site. His fucked up views of the world and women thus have nothing to do with us. I have it on good authority that a few posters here in the past who seemed somewhat deranged and advocated things such as "locking up women and killing them off" are reported/banned quicker than you can rub one out. If there's one thing these bullshit pseudo internet journalists realise though its that in the absence of a conspiracy the truth all too often doesn't make a good story so it's better to just make shit up and serve your lies as juicy outrage porn instead.

We are talking about percentages of time here, not a specific point in time. How can one's arguments be taken seriously with such a ridiculous mistake resulting from an attempt at sounding smart.

What's wrong with "about", "around" or "approximately"?

Due to the heritability of poverty and low IQs, we propose eugenics as the most effective long term solution for controlling entitlement spending.

So which part is she angry about, the premise or the conclusion? The premise has been shown time and time again to be true. The conclusion is for eugenics, or a science that deals with the improvement (as by control of human mating) of hereditary qualities of a race or breed. The thing about eugenics is that it's happening all the time, it's culture-imposed. The reason so many intelligent people don't have children is because they either don't have the time or the money (from living in areas that have absurd living expenses like SF and NYC). Right now we are facing dysgenics because high-IQ people typically have one child and low-IQ people typically have more than three. There's nothing wrong about organizing society such that the most intelligent have the most children. Don't attest this idea because of the oogy-boogy word "eugenics".

Circa 99% of the time this is a very good thing. The other 1%, though, gives us communities like “The Red Pill,” the misogynist hate site which became infamous after Elliot Rodger’s killing spree in Santa Barbara earlier this year.

I hope she isn't implying that Rodger was a fan of PUA-related communities. Because he wasn't. He hated them. He wanted to murder men because of it, and he succeeded in doing so.

[–]SupraLuggi -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've seen several articles confuse PUAHate.com as a PUA site and state that Rodgers was trying to be a PUA. Don't doubt that this article is making that same mistake.

[–]cynwrig -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Whevever anyone starts lauding eugenics, I can't help but think of Charles II of Spain - the product of the Habsburg family breeding the 'superior leader'

Human eugenics has been a failure - a mix of bad science and/or bad policy. We already know how to boost IQ worldwide - give everyone a proper diet. Less poor people - redistribute money. Sure they lack the charm of forced sterilizations, and genocide but you know, we can't please everybody.

It's Powertalk, it's not Straight Talk. After a while you'll realize that around 50% of the people putting out accussations are doing so proactively to because they are the people doing those things themselves.

Accussing the "manosphere" of what Elliot Rodgers did puts them on the defensive. But look at his attitudes and beliefs:

  • He thought he should be getting laid because he was the "supreme gentleman" - old school feminism "If you're nice to girls they'll like you more!"

  • He went to parties - but didn't approach women. He just sort of stood there. Apparently before the killings he biked somewhere, sat on a bench where there were lots of women around, and no one sat next to him for 5 minutes - he concluded this meant women wouldn't sleep with him.

What ideology tells men that women hate being approached, and if she really likes you, she'll approach you?? - Feminism.

  • He joined a site hating on PUA's as being asshole manipulative jerks - again - who hates on PUA's? Feminism.

In reality, he's a dark triad guy who's a very very extreme example of what happens to guys who fully internalize what feminism tells men is true about dating. I used to argue with feminists (don't bother any more) and they would tell me all the exact things, wrapped up in a warm caring wrapper, that frustrated Elliot Rodgers.

Of course normal guys don't go on killing sprees because they couldn't get laid. At worst they give in and hire a prostitute. But that doesn't change that all his actions to try to get laid seemed like they were exactly what feminists were "teaching" guys they should do. Perhaps a little bit the older school version before the whole "Nice Guy" thing, but that's what he would have grown up with.

By always accussing the "manosphere" of what Elliot Rodgers did, they put it on the defensive and avoid a discussion on how similar everything he said about trying to get a girl was to older feminist rhetoric.

[–]TheSKSpecial 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Rodger = bad man
TRP = "bad" men

Hence Rodger = TRP, according to them.

Anybody that does the slightest bit of research on both can see that the two are polar opposites, but since they're both considered "bad" they must be one and the same.

Nothing boosts subscribers like obvious bullshit. Good thing there are intelligent people out there that like to learn for themselves and not just take some morons word. Facts are for suckers, lemme just pull this anecdotal chart out of my ass to explain how this works. Elliot Rodgers was a frustrated lonely man full of hate, The Red Pill is full of frustrated lonely men, and nobody hates more than Stormfront. It's all comin together...

[–]foodstampsforpussy 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

TRP really isn't for everyone anyway. Either you can distinguish the truth and work to improve yourself or reject it and live an "easier" life. Betas will be betas.

[–]smile_e_face 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The best part is how he simply states the connection between Stormfront - an actual hate site - and TRP without substantiating it in any way. He just sort of slides Red Pill into one of the middle paragraphs and moves along, hoping his readers will make the association without actually thinking about it. It's a classic tactic of politicians, marketers, and yellow journalists. What a shameless hack.

[–]Panzer_Geist 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't be surprised. People love to live in their little bubble. They don't want to be told the truth - they want safety. Even if that safety is only an illusion it's still much more comfortable than the cold hard truth. It REALLY is the red pill from the Matrix. Would you really want to know that your whole life is a computer program? Wouldn't it be more comfortable to live the lie? You have to realize that the vast majority of humanity are followers and non-achievers. The do-or-die:ers only make up a fraction of the population. The followers will go along with whatever zeitgeist is currently favored by the masses be it it communism, fascism or feminism.

A lion does not concern itself with the option of the sheep.

cooperation matrix

objective morality

I know using data makes one think "empirical" = "objective", but that doesn't make it so.

I challenge anyone who claims to have objective knowledge to show me how, in this case for instance, getting along with people I agree with (and subsequently shunning those I dont) makes my viewpoint somehow objectively right.

He's referring to the tyranny of the majority. Nothing objective about flawed mortals banding together and agreeing on shit.

It's ludicrous. I'm of the thought that there's no knowable, objective truth at all, but that's another topic all its own.

Which is just a reminder to everybody:

Don't talk about TRP to anybody. People online who act like us are demonized by idiots, but in the real world people who act in a RP way are the top of the food chain.

Don't worry about what people say, worry about what they do. If RP is working for you in real life, don't worry about what anybody else says about it.

It's amazing to witness the sheer propensity of ignorance pouring out of the PC charged SJW cube. It isn't difficult to imagine TRP being mis-alinged with a pariah when the people assigning the labels haven't the faintest idea about whom they are chortling about.

TRP is to a hate group as Jenny Craig is to being a proponent of osteoperosis.

[–]Kraou -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How is this meta?

It's a bit boring to see any shitpost being quoted here "lookie those random people say bad stuff about us", but I must say this article had generally interesting things in it.

Even though eigenmorality might be a misnomer (eigentrust would be more adequate - "trustworthy people tend to reciprocate"), the idea that (software) tools can be made to reduce the circle jerking "power" (google filters circle jerk-linking more or less effectively) in discussion spaces is interesting. Surely, there is some circle jerking in TRP, aswell as elsewhere.

One serious, but apparently insufficient, downside to eigenfactor (for medical and scientific publications, like the impact factor - but this is applicable for anything similar) is that "The observator influences the observation". On a micro level, you can apply that to physics, on macro level you can apply this to the concept of "Double Blind Experiment": the observer has its bias, the observed know they are observed and will act differently. So, as soon as we know about an eigenfactor that is used to measure your morality, or trustworthyness, or whatever, we will start "waste" our time cheating. People write empty publications to gain impact factor points. People who don't and focus on real skills (other than writing good publications) are devalued: building the metric becomes a chore (in a sense, school function like that aswell).

Anyway, isnt it nice to read the author bashing "Grey enlightnement" because they are proponents of eugenics, and in the same time think about a world scale eigennumber that would help detecting the origin of "bad ideas", I guess so we could abort them? Controlling genes: no; controlling ideas: yes.

The hilarious thing is, this sub gets bad-mouthed, people go to see what's all about, starts reading some posts and holy shit, something clicks, they start to realize why it was their fault they were friend zoned that one time, why their crush keeps dating "assholes" but don't doesn't even sees him as a male, why despite being so nice and selfless people keep walking over them, or for some older guys why his fiancee or wife just up and completely ruined his life. And they see how much of this is within their control to take responsibility instead of blaming women about it (but oh wait, this is supposed to be a misogynist sub).

Just look at the number of subscribers, not long ago the 50k mark was hit and topic were made to put things in perspective to the newcomers. Right now its at 60k...
