I hate to be that guy, especially to a story with a happy ending, but I smell phony. A big fat phony to this story. This reads like beta revenge porn fantasy.

First of all this story is literally Redpill101. Nothing wrong with that, as a matter of fact this story can be used as a road map for guys everywhere. Stop being a fatass, lose the weight, get in shape, hit the weights, learn how to dress, improve your lot in life, strive for opportunities, work at your job or getting a better job. With all that, confidence follows, and with an improve status and confidence, the women will appear. When women like you, pre-selection happens and more women like you. I wholeheartedly endorse this. But for it to outline so well? I am a bit incredulous.

Second, she fits into a stereotypical trope too well. The shallow hot girl that friendzones a fat guy and now lives/dates a broke jerk. And she gets her comeuppance?

Lastly, this was the exact plot to the movie Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds. Except in the movie, they refall in love and live happily ever after. But it is the exact same plot as this article.

Slightly off topic but I read a post on the only two ways on how to get out of the friendzone:
