My dating life has developed a bit of a cyclical aspect to it - for better or for worse.

Meet girl. Flirt with girl. Set a date (or two or three). Sleep with girl. Continue seeing each other for some weeks or maybe months. Cease contact when one or both of us realizes I'm not likely to enter into a long term relationship. The last step in this always leaves a pretty bitter and shameful taste in my mouth.

I am a dude in my 30s. I make decent income, not bad looking, OK social skills so fortunately attracting girls isn't a huge problem (although I always look to improve in that area, hence me being here). Eventually I do want a long term relationship and marriage but I'm trying my best to go through the process of finding that person just like anyone else. In the meantime I do my best to date and inevitably I'll get laid from time to time. After that though, the girls, usually and predictably get attached. I always feel like a dick at this point because we have been sleeping together, and severing ties with this person who has gotten their hopes up gets let down. It's not like I ever expressly say anything to suggest I want a LTR with any particular girl or consciously mislead them but in the dating process, acting like a gentleman, paying them high amounts of romantic attention and spending time in general with them communicates otherwise. Also, not trying to make any sexist generalizations but I've noticed that after sex women tend to become much more attached.

I've noticed it seems like there is never an opportune time or way to communicate my long term intent, once I basically realize I don't want to enter into a relationship with a girl. Texting them seems a bit shallow. Meeting in person to blideside them with that seems harsh. But also, dragging it out longer than it needs to go is probably not fair and maybe misleading.

Anyway, does anyone else in the dating scene feel this way? I feel like my intentions are good but also too often I feel like I could be taking advantage. It just sucks to feel like this repeatedly with most girls I date and sleep with, so was just wondering if anyone else's experiences are consistent and if you have any tips.
