Yeah, the slightest hint of someone thinking in a way the counteracts the female-first social order gets at the very least downvoted into oblivion, but more likely banned from the sub. And that’s not just r/Advice

[–]mhdy98[S] 74 points75 points76 points 2 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

crazy

[–]SarahC 48 points49 points50 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's still some "oldboys" networks - think older CEO's who all know each other. But they're not usual. That's not the experience of almost every guy on the planet.

Yet they associate these apex "old boys" with every single descent hard working guy out there. It's an -ism writ large.

[–]Jurassican_25 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

r/interestingasfuck is like it too. I said one thing, not even a second passed and I was banned for being in a “Bad faith subreddit”

[–]Reset_reset_006 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s actually crazy, any Reddit post about men in general is heavily downvoted. Just look at the askmen subreddit and half the threads always have low upvotes but lots of comments relatively speaking

[+]BranchJolly3111 -2 points-1 points0 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Could it be possible that something similar happens in this sub?

[–]Mycroft033 487 points488 points489 points 2 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

…when the rights of half the population are a forbidden topic lmao…

[–]Spins13 110 points111 points112 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah. That’s sad 😔

[–]ezbyEVL 107 points108 points109 points 2 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Posting here gets you banned from a couple of places lol, for "participating on a redpill/incel sub"

Reddit mods being reddit mods, I guess idk, being a men and wanting equal rights, is, incel behavior?

[–]Expensive-Bid9426 39 points40 points41 points 2 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What's hilarious to me is that reddit mods most of the time are incels themselves and are viewed as incels by society but they think virtue signalling and undermining or insulting other men will get them laid.

[–]Setari 14 points15 points16 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

When zero women know or care about their actions anyway. On the internet. It's laughable to watch dudes do this stuff IRL too.

[–]Expensive-Bid9426 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's really sad. Most of the issues with dating especially are problems caused by other men who behave like this. The worst is when older men undermine younger men to peacock.

[–]uiualover 11 points12 points13 points 2 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

I got one of those from /r/interestingasfuck a couple days ago. Stick to a variety of interesting topics, Karen. It's not even a political sub.

[–]elebrin 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I got one of those two. I was like... eh. Whatever. Ain't my first ban.

I've been on Reddit for years. I've been on this sub specifically almost since I found Reddit. If I were to guess, I've been on this sub longer than that sub has existed.

They are welcome to their opinions but it's all quite silly.

[–]uiualover 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Individual subreddit bans are not bad, but what sucks is when they ban your whole account. I recently lost my account I've had since 2010 because I politely reported a man-hating post for hate. Some admin really did not like that.

[–]elebrin 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, I don't report people. Hell, I don't even block people. I chuckle at the foolishness of others, and move on with my life.

It feels good to come here and express what I think - it helps me develop my ideas and get real time feedback from people.

[+]OGKillertunes 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm coming back from a permanent IP and account ban. All the men related subs I was in are all gone now. This is the only one I can find. I just received a ban from interestingasfuck for posting here. Also, not my first rodeo.

[–]Futureman999 65 points66 points67 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They think when you have The Patriarchy® so your life has been a big fat lazy hog wallow of unearned privilege since the day you were born, who needs "rights"?

This is what happens when online hug boxes concentrate women to reinforce each other into believing every obstacle or setback in their lives is caused by some external source: men, instead of quitting jobs whenever they're bored, spending every last penny on clothes or whatever instead of saving, majoring in the easiest subjects in school instead of planning for their future employment, eating whatever and getting fat then blaming "society's fatphobia" for their diabetes and heart disease, becoming a tatted up single mother nobody wants because Tinder chads were just soo delicious.... on and on like that.

Then an ordinary average guy with a decent job and none of those problems steps up and says, "I don't know, I guess I did the hard shit because I had to? Life is hard, you don't get shit unless you earn it." PATRIARCHY CONFIRMED!

[–]aerial_coitus 17 points18 points19 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is exactly right. Amen.🥇

[–]killcat 8 points9 points10 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've heard this in person, that MRA's are "not interested in men's rights or they'd be feminists".

[–]Mycroft033 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yah that’s a very common line

[–]JJ-5891 81 points82 points83 points 2 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Again. I got banned from a page on Reddit(I honestly forget which one) for answering an innocuous question on this page. Apparently this is a page for “incels.”

[–]hardcore_softie 43 points44 points45 points 2 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

I got auto banned from r/offmychest for the same reason. Actually someone had posted a story here where several people including myself felt like he was intentionally leaving out some key details in his post and I simply stated I was reserving judgement until OP provided additional details. This was enough to trigger the auto ban, stating I posted in a red pill sub and they don't allow red pill posters to post on their sub. Something tells me I would have been ok if I'd posted on twox or a feminist sub instead.

I messaged the mods about the ban even though I really don't care about being able to post or comment there and got no reply. No surprise. I was literally being critical and skeptical of someone posting here and that got me banned from the other sub for being red pilled. That's Reddit for ya.

[–]AtemAndrew 19 points20 points21 points 2 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Same in regards to randomly being banned from r/interestingasfuck . Years of being in both subreddits, and some random mod with a stick up their ass decided to ban me and demand a mea culpa for daring to be in the men's rights sub, which they deemed a 'bad-faith subreddit' that 'spreads propaganda/disinformation/racism/sexism.'

[–]walmrttt 9 points10 points11 points 2 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wasn’t a mod. There’s 3 bots that scan members for any association with blacklisted subs. And autobans. Block the 3 bots and you’ll never get banned.

[–]akrause03 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Which three bots

[–]walmrttt 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Search for u/saferbot and block that one and 2 others I can’t remember the last 2 but they’re also called saferbot

[–]JJ-5891 6 points7 points8 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it was that page for me too. I don’t care enough to fight the ban though.

[–]hmspain 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

MGTOW transfers :-)

[–]weatherinfo 74 points75 points76 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Checked the rules of that sub. Men’s rights or anything close to it is not a forbidden topic. The mods just hate men it looks like

[–]officer_shnitzel_69 42 points43 points44 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What I've been saying. Feminist don't fight for equality. They hate men, and they think it's funny

[–]Common-Ferret-1435 220 points221 points222 points 2 years ago (30 children) | Copy Link

It’s feminist and leftist controlled like 99% of Reddit.

One has to realize just how hated men are. It’s pretty blatantly obvious they simply don’t care. And since Reddit is controlled by leftists power and money hungry power mods, this is what you find out.

[–]mhdy98[S] 65 points66 points67 points 2 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

i didnt know mentioning a sub would cause such a big reaction. it's like french mods on french subs

[–]Common-Ferret-1435 78 points79 points80 points 2 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You mentioned men’s rights. It’s over. Men’s rights means violent rapes incels, because the man hating feminists don’t want anything to interfere with their power, money, and hate.

It’s why gleefully support MGM. Butchering children makes men seethe and they love it.

Everything they supporting man hating, and Reddit admins give them carte blanche to silence, censor, and ban anyone opposed to them.

[–]Ahielia 16 points17 points18 points 2 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

rape incels

There's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.

[–]WolfShaman 2 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

While you may be technically correct, if you add nuance a rapist is still an incel. Rape is not consensual sex, or "getting laid".

[–]Ahielia 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To humor this and to be more technically correct - because it appears you think I condone this, or something? - incel is "involuntary celibate", consensual sex is not a requirement.

[–]JackStile 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It wasn't like that not long ago. Fuck I remember when imgur was just a fun place for memes, images and the occasional naughty pic getting through mods. Now it's a political cesspool.

[–]Kinemi 3 points4 points5 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What's happening with french mods on french subs?

[–]l339 6 points7 points8 points 2 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I just looked into the rules and I don’t see how your mention breaks rule 3? Maybe post it again lol or talk to a mod to get more insight

[–]mhdy98[S] 25 points26 points27 points 2 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

it was done by a human and it's a short comment, there's nothing to discuss he's pushing his agenda

[–]AZEMT 13 points14 points15 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Welcome to Reddit

[–]Ricoshete 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reddit mods often don't get laid and are the kind of people who can be online 24/7 but aren't more desirable for higher employment but are also 'free to hire'. Thus it kinda attracts a 'mlady 500+ lb terminally online internet warrior', who thinks definition of 'nice' even to the ladies might literally include thinking "tsunderes are so hot" because "if they're not into me, they must love me" is a turn on when the entire world thinks you're creepy. XD.

I mean it's a strawman but i've caught reddit moderators white knighting before going "why didn't she erp with me? I held open a door, if she wants a 'nice' guy, im a 'nice guy', i didn't !@!# her'

Like there's been bizarre experiences where some people define love as something like. "Whispering into your ear that they love you, softly smiling as they caress your hair, thinking the best of the parents they could be. Arguing not to fight, but because they care, to give the best future to their child" in their idea.

The redditor might literally be a reverse incel, the kind that will say anything to get in someone's pants. That's the pay. There was a frequent problem with unpaid discord/reddit moderators attracting power trippers nobody liked with agendas that stayed. And good mods that people liked eventually moving away as better job opportunities opened up.

Source/ Chatted with a guy that ran a 50k server / Helper -> Mod -> Co-Admin of a 50k member server in college, left when i got 200 dms a day for scam reports and "UPDATE NOW! UPDATE NOW UPDATE NOW!"

I don't regret it, but eventually when i got tired. I was a boy scout mod, honor before reason, The 1000 applicants we rejected were power tripping creeps, the security replacement we all had suspicions of strangely suspicious filipino rwting/cross trading.

We decided it didn't make sense to try and terrorize 12-20 year old children over 25-20$ game items they got back for free in a week in our game anyways. And the other people were power trippers. I enjoyed my retirement and life balance lmao and he was a good guy otherwise.

Just he suspiciously banned everyone EXCEPT fillipino cross traders and scammers lmao. But aww, life's too short to care lol. Genuine nice guy otherwise and him making 2$ here didn't felt like a issue worth gambling for.

Is it Ok if I name the sub, without the leading r-slash?

[–]NotARussianBot1984 8 points9 points10 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men are hated not even just on Reddit, but my own gov't. My local public university BANS men (and whites) from applying to jobs.

It's insanity. I want to leave my own country over this.

[–]DescriptionGeneral25 15 points16 points17 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not like people who aren't leftist care about men either, all political spectrums agree that men should be the ones sent to die in wars and to do hard labours

[–]Roddy0608 5 points6 points7 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not just left. Far left.

[–]Grow_peace_in_Bedlam 3 points4 points5 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Really, far liberal. What masquerades as left these days with its divisive identity politics is liberal, not leftist, since it does jack for the working class.

[+]MatheusMod -6 points-5 points-4 points 2 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

hello, I'm part of the left and I can prove this with 100% certainty, but remember: they are not the true left because the left fights for equality and does not put one above the other for reasons of historical debt and things like that, these people are a bunch of supremacists who stole our revolution.

(I know why I'm getting downvotes and I agree with that because even if I were in your position I would do that because I wouldn't believe that there is a part of the left that cares about men but yes we exist, we are a minority but yes we are standing Even though we are called fascists, we still stand)

[–]Futureman999 11 points12 points13 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Years ago I used to read Salon.com to get their take on things like the environment and workers' rights, but then they seemed to get more and more seethingly misandrist and I noped out.

[–]Forsaken_Hat_7010 8 points9 points10 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Somewhere along the line, a corrupt version of social struggle was imposed on top of everything else, with meaningless classes like gender, which only provoked silly conflicts within the working social class itself.

I don't think it's overly conspiratorial if I imply: who would benefit and could promote something like that?

[–]Salamadierha 9 points10 points11 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Left winger here, we're at the point where the majority of the left don't give a damn about male problems, and isn't interested in equality so long as it doesn't affect women.

These are the true left nowadays, the left is so keen to point out language evolves, well so does political positioning. These fuckers are dragging the left wing further and further into the distance and trying to act like nothing has changed.

[–]couldntyoujust 7 points8 points9 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Revolution towards what though? It sounds like you're promoting equality (equal rights and opportunities where outcomes are based solely on merit) over equity (equal outcomes achieved via privileges for oppressed groups).

To me as a conservative on the right, I see this distinction as fundamental to the left vs right debate, but I'm interested to hear your opinion what distinguishes the left from the right and the left from the new-left.

Please don't take offense to the question though. I'm glad you're here finding common ground with people like you and people like me working together to address an oft ignored inequality.

[–]MatheusMod 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Like, I think that equity is something that will always end up in unbalanced privileges, in my opinion we should fight so that everyone receives the same opportunities but not to the point of making it easier for someone with have a problem that others don't have (some times is impossible to not make easier but we need try to give only what is necessary for a person to achieve on their own merit and not because everything is easier in these cases), I use myself as an example , I had several mental and learning problems as a child and no one made it easier for me and that helped me a lot to understand that life is not fair and never will be, something that doesn't exist nowadays because at the sign of any problem the systems already make it easier for the person.

Equity is something utopian unattainable for human nature so at least we should try to make life a little fairer as it will never be 100%.

The big difference between left and right would be the economic system, but apart from that, believe it or not, there is no big difference in the social aspect (ignoring both the extreme left and right to talk about this, obviously as they will always be opposites) both the liberal right and The liberal left believes that everyone can choose to be whatever they want to be, but the question is the approach. The right tends to preserve fundamental values such as family, for example, in this rapidly changing world, something that unfortunately the left tends to try to destroy for no reason. (they said that Karl Marx said it should be destroyed but it is not true that it is written that in a socialist utopia things like family and money would cease to exist and not that we should destroy it ourselves but rather let the natural course follow something that seems to me that never happened because Marx is not 100% right)

In the matter of the new left against the old, this is a long and tragic story, but in short, after the death of Vladimir Lenin, Stalin took over even with direct written orders from Lenin to remove Stalin, this was the first betrayal because Stalin was a psychopathic madman worse than Hitler, but the betrayal that most reverberates in social circles is that made by movements such as feminists, one thing that is not said is that from the beginning of his movement he was never egalitarian (read the SCUM manifesto if you don't agree) he was always revancist, the great betrayal was letting these movements led by crazy people take control of the left, normalizing this revancism as something fair and natural, which took us away from our principles, how do you fight for equality if you let people who clearly don't want it lead us?, the greatest example politician is Lula, president of my country, who is a complete traitor who is only interested in money and deceiving the people with his false leftist promises, so in short we are lost (Another big thing that differentiates the modern left from the old one is that it ignores science, thinking that someone can change gender like changing clothes, you can want to be whatever you want but remember, it is impossible to change genetics.)

Sorry, I like talking about this topic (grammatical errors will probably be included)

[–]thatusenameistaken 11 points12 points13 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

they are not the true left

no true scotsman huh?

[–]FappingFop 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm very far to the left. These are our crazies. Every political movement has them. Every political movement tries to distances themselves from them. This is why pluralism, free speech, and egalitarian representation is so important. We all mitigate each other's worst tendencies. The Left has been slowly making an authoritarian grab for a while under the guise of "civil rights," "reparations," "DEI," etc. Any movement that silences someone because of their race or gender is vile. We, progressives, need to own this mess and fix it. (Just like the right needs to fix the tiki torch nazis).

[–]MatheusMod 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

yes, I agree, but I think that the left is worse in these aspects because there are very few leading figures on the right who go kind of openly (they don't admit but we know from the things they say) to the Nazi-facist side, unlike the left in which the almost an absolute majority is linked to a movement like the feminist one, take as an example the movement for the cause of teachers here in my country, it was practically dismantled because it linked itself to Lula's PT which ended up bringing a lot of bad links to the movement, It's gotten to the point where we no longer know what he's fighting for, are they higher salaries or is it just about women in the area of education? I don't know anymore, so kind of us on the left and the people on the right we are on common ground in this case, we only need to know what to do to clear this mess.

Not sure why I was downvoted. Of course a human give bot commands to follow. But I was saying humans aren’t manually going and finding certain people who post in men’s right and banning them. This website is truly cancer.

[–]esuil 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well, sure, they don't do it manually.

But if person started the bot, gave it a rule and pressed button "ban everyone who matches this rule", can you really in good faith pretend that it is bot doing the banning, and not the person who runs it?

When I press "Enter" on my PC and send this message. Did I send the message, with you reading what I wanted to say, or are you reading message sent by my computer and not me, because, after all, once I pressed enter, it was my PC who processed all the information and sent the message?

[–]ARedditorCalledQuest 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Dude he's not absolving people who use the bot of responsibility. He's just pointing out that some subs have put this sub in the auto ban list for their bots. I think you're reading way too much into the original comment.

[–]esuil 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean sure, but that pointing out does not really make any sense, because everyone knows that when mods do something, bots are the ones executing it.

Also, this topic title is "what is wrong with this sub". You can clearly see on the screenshot the message from the mod team of that subreddit, stating "This action was performed by a HUMAN moderator". Literally in the screenshot.

Supported by the fact that it happened 2 hours after the comment. It wasn't a bot autoban in this case.

No matter how you spin it, original comment does not make much sense in this context.

[–]LowLifeExperience 22 points23 points24 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Simply being a member of this sub will get you banned from interestingasfuck and other completely unrelated subs. It’s a very clear agenda being enforced to create nothing more than an eco chamber.

I suppose it could be considered tech support in a way?
Otherwise it's a post deletion for no good reason with no justification in the rules. Typical mod in other words.

[–]SarcasticallyCandour 34 points35 points36 points 2 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Men's movements are classed as hatespeech. Reddit seems 99% university 'educated' people so it follows a lens of victim groups vs oppressor groups. Men are seen as the oppressors so we dont need a group or movement.

This is the modern left, it's everywhere. Everything that deviates from men are bad/women are good is hatred of women.

Its ideological.

[–]SarahC 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Two Ronnies "Worm that turned" had it spot on.

[–]CarHungry 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If that were true this sub would have been deleted by now. Feminists know on some level they will have to recognize men's right if they want to keep their own, even if they don't like it.

I believe losing ground on abortion is a manifestation of that fact.

[–]SarcasticallyCandour 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're been trying to get this sub nuked for years now.

[–]dolltron69 9 points10 points11 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well if you hadn't worked it out: reddit is not a mass society. Reddit is Neo-tribal society and that means you have to circle jerk the tribe chiefs or else the chief kicks you out of the village and might notify other tribes whom they are on good terms with to put you on auto-kick.

[–]liferelationshi 7 points8 points9 points 2 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You will also get banned from the “dating” subreddit so I suggest you don’t try to post there either. Ask me how I know.

[–]regulatedtrash 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The fucker that runs that subreddit is a complete asshole. I perused a couple posts there and he/she commented on all of them saying their concern isn’t warranted. They essentially were trolling people who came to that subreddit for advice.

[–]liferelationshi1 point 2 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yeah the mod is horrible. And so is any other mod that also bans a redditor who is a member of r/MensRights

[–]Mahnonsaprei 7 points8 points9 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

LOL, we all seem to have a stigma. Whatever, to hell with them. The hypocrisy is all theirs.

[–]Ruben0415 7 points8 points9 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Literally commenting here gets you banned

[–]NotBaron 4 points5 points6 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've been banned recently from other subs because I'm an inciter of hate because I'm subbed here.

Woke reddit at it again I guess.

[–]zoxzoxzo 5 points6 points7 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"forbidden topic" LMAO. Gotta make sure not to anger feminists with honest questions

[–]Hubris1998 7 points8 points9 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They think men shouldn't have rights because that somehow threatens feminism. It's like when you say all lives matter and people call you a racist.

[–]DoktorLuciferWong 5 points6 points7 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Interestingly, that comment doesn't break rule 3 in any obvious way

We're peddlers of meat in an all vegan buffet.

Sure, the meat may be the answer to everyone there, including the anemic vegan men, but it's easier for their world view to just hate us. Change is hard, so change must be bad. So in attempting to change the course of society, we are bad.

We live under a worldwide technogynofascist regime and Reddit is one of its echo chambers. Anything that goes against the misandrist narrative is forbidden and we as men are just slaves for the system.

The brainwashing and brain rot of the left. Make half the world seen as 3de rate people. Quite sad.

But on the other side, you know. Take them all seriously. Believe them all even with no proof. A clown would honestly.

Not to forget you get banned from even placing a comment on tons of subs just for being in a men's subreddit.

And you have some crazy extreme right leaning people too that just lashing out to the unfairness.

To be honest it's just building bigger and bigger walls and dividing between the 2 till part of society just collapses.

Cause people act worse than children and forget the things even children learn. Treat others like how you wish to be treated.

But every 6 months seems like people just step it up to the next level of clown show and more crazy extremes. Honestly kinda just fed up with it all. And just feel fully disgusted by those people who are so simple-minded and treat people so weirdly and surprised they are not taken seriously or given any respect back to.

Just kinda tired one side can get away with murder and the other can't even say what they prefer without being shamed for them.

What's the message that's cut off? Was it personally written or some blabber about rules?

[–]Reset_reset_006 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yea got banned in a random ass subreddit even tho my comments had nothing to do with anything gender related because I’m participating in this subreddit. Something about this place being a space for “bad faith arguments”.

The irony is so sweet.

My partner is a completely reasonable woman who is incredibly smart and able to think through the things she believes and is empathetic towards other people. She is a high level official in emergency services and has busted her ass her whole life to get there. She has her issues, just like everyone, but is at her core a very good person. Two things that we've talked about since meeting and that happen quite often:

She sees the attitude towards my son (from another relationship) in various situations and the things he goes through in the current social climate and is shocked. She consistently says things like "I had no idea" when she heard about how schools are set up for and biased towards girls, how her friends (we are both very liberal but her friends are like ultra progressive) talk about men and boys in such a negative manner as a matter of fact like it's just accepted that penis ownership makes you a lesser human. The matter of fact way issues that boys have are written off and minimized in casual conversation. She's told me often that "raising a boy blows my mind". She catches herself doing it when she does and as near as I can figure, it's a matter of simply not initially seeing men and boys as people. Literally. Like she has to think "oh yeah they have feelings and difficulties in life like everyone else".

Second, literally everything that happens to her that is negative has an initial reaction of "patriarchy" or at work, "old boys club". And honestly sometimes these things are absolutely real in her field. But things that I see as completely inappropriate as a man in a workplace (we're not talking sexual harassment here but just the way things are handled or expectations of her because she's a woman) she tends to accept because she sees them as no big deal but things that happen that AREN'T because of bad male behavior immediately are blamed on men, even when women are doing them. Luckily for me she's willing to listen when I point out these things and mostly it happens when she's under a lot of stress which is understandable cause a common stress response is going back to your learned stereotypes and the "easy" answers.

What I've found is that a lot of women (maybe the majority) who are anywhere on the left side of the spectrum who are intelligent and successful have completely internalized the narrative that all bad things are because of men. Even when women do them. My partner before her was an accomplished psychologist and an adjunct professor at a major Midwestern University and she was exactly the same. When that attitude is so prevalent and accepted and fed into your brain most of your life it's the first reaction in many situations. I point out the intelligent part because luckily they were both willing to have honest discussions and even change their mind on some things and they changed my mind and opened upy perspective on some things too. But there's a lot of people out there that aren't like that or have no desire to understand a different point of view and this isn't a left or right thing. I think the inroad for me is that I'm also pretty left leaning so we can usually find common ground on lots of issues and so they're more likely to listen to my perspective because I sound reasonable on other stuff.

As an aside the only people I ever hear talk about gaslighting is women and experientially the people in real life I see participating in gaslighting are almost exclusively women. Possibly confirmation bias because I'd say personally and at work 90% of people I am in contact with are women but still it's fascinating.

[–]regulatedtrash 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Last summer I went on a date with a woman from Bumble. She was really nice on the surface, but when we met up she constantly questioned me for no reason. I’d ask a question relating to her likes and interests, but she would follow up with “are you gaslighting me?!” Never did I realize this before, but a lot of women are like that. They think everyone is out to get them.

How the hell are human rights controversial?

[–]PoniardBlade1 point 2 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Nothing is wrong with this sub, however...

Many subbreddits require responses to actually add to the conversation within the subreddit. You just directed the OP to here instead of contributing to the conversation there. It's like responding "This!" to a reply. Or like responding with an emotional response instead of a legal response in /r/legaladvice; the mods there try to eliminate non legal answers there.
