After reading through your two linked posts, I do see your point. Feminism is predicated upon the assumption that men and women are not treated equally, and that needs to be fixed. The end goal always has been gender neutrality, as you said, that would be true equality, I agree. However, the question remains of how to best achieve this. In a perfect world, everyone would already see things the way you do and look past gender entirely. Gender neutrality would already be the status quo and we would have natural equality. Unfortunately, the system we’re presently dealing with in reality is flawed and unbalanced. Many women are not afforded the same systemic advantages and opportunities as men (not to say that all men are afforded the same privilege). Such imbalances are often reflected in career opportunities such as the STEM fields, which are historically male dominated. If our society could mutually agree upon gender neutrality, this would naturally even out over time until no one group is disproportionately over or underrepresented. That’s the best case scenario, and I truly believe we will eventually reach that point given enough time for everyone to be enlightened as you (I mean this genuinely, I apologize if it comes across as sarcastic). Given the current state of affairs, we can both see that we’re not quite there. In the meantime, what you refer to as “tipping the scales,” seem to be attempts to actively combat the inherent imbalances in the system. Are they “sexist” in the sense that one group is favored above the rest? Yes. However, I don’t view the selective empowerment of an underprivileged group as being detrimental so long as it causes no explicit harm to other groups (save for a larger pool of qualified competitors for further opportunities). I believe that temporarily attempting to artificially balance the scales may be useful in reaching our end goal of a natural, self-stabilizing, gender neutral society.

We had an excellent example of how to eliminate any POSSIBLE gender bias in which grants that got funded here in Sweden up until recently by completely eliminating all names and pronouns from all requests making it impossible for any sort of bias to creep in to the decision... Female lead studies, lost over 20% more grants than normal so the practice was ended. Women are catered to in STEM fields. They DO have every opportunity that is afforded men in the field, there just simply are not anywhere near as many women IN stem as there are men, and I'm sorry but the reality is that your version of equality with equality of outcome, is based on the notion that there are no differences between the genders and I'm sorry, but there is.

That's always going to be the outcome when tipping any scales. That's what scales mean. If you put more weight on one side, then that side goes down, and the other will always go up. No no. Your lack of context wasn't what gave the impression... Your specific arguments were. And if you want to fight systemic favoring of one group, well the first step to do so, is identify and provide evidence for HOW one group is being systematically favored, and to do that, you CANNOT be looking at outcomes. The instant you refer to outcomes, you've lost the argument for equality of opportunity, and are now entirely into the area of equality of outcomes, because equality of opportunity, does not care if it's 50/50, or 0.000001/99.999999. Those two outcomes are entirely equal to an equality of opportunity.

And I try not to label it this way without a specific context. I don't exactly run around crying 'feminism is bad', I just keep saying feminism is sexism. It isn't as bad as pure sexism itself, it just happens to also be sexism.
I believe that temporarily attempting to artificially balance the scales may be useful in reaching our end goal of a natural, self-stabilizing, gender neutral society.
Yeah, OK, I'm not against people teaching girls to code or something. People can do what they want and it's basically a good thing. I just hang around to make sure that the whole ordeal leaves the bypassers with a bitter taste of sexism if they don't accept boys.

oh man. If you haven't seen In Bruges, I only wish I could watch it with you, on rabbit or something. It's such a fucking good movie, it really is. Go watch it now, I think I can guarantee you won't regret it (unless you loathe Bruges like Colin's character does).
It is so fucking good. A lot of people, including me, never much cared for Colin Farrell before this movie, and now we're lifelong fans just because he was so fucking endearing and good in this role. And it's just... funny, intriguing, heartwarming, and engaging.

It's a balance. On the one hand, women are obviously fragile and you shouldn't go beating on them for the same reason you wouldn't beat on a child or an elderly person. It simply isn't right, and no amount of feminist lying about biology will change that.
On the other hand, women who continually exploit 'you shouldn't hit a woman' to be violent to the point of dangerous to men knowing there will be no consequences should get a smack every once in a while to remind them of why the rule exists in the first place. There should be a balance between treating women like equal subjects of violence, and becoming their punching bags.

You need to take the photo into context as well, not just the words. What emotion is the girl portraying? If she were angry, I might agree with the "Doesn't matter if she's a girl" depending on the situation. But this girl isn't angry. She isn't retaliating. She's crying. She looks hurt. Maybe even a little bit scared. Holding her hand up against the person she's looking at, to keep them at bay. THAT'S what makes the original photo a commentary on domestic violence, not on "Don't hit girls because they're girls." Too many people are focused on the words to see the whole story.

Alright, lets look at the context then, a feminist posted this image, probably one of those "never hit a woman, no matter the situation" types, so shed be the type to think that anyone striking a woman, no matter the situation, is abusing said woman, whats the reaction to being abused, crying. This woman is crying because a man hit her, there is no context to prove that there was an antagonist or any certainty of what led up to the event in this situation, there is only an image of the aftermath of a man striking a woman (at least the aftermath according to this feminist, who thinks women are too fragile to be hit), we dont know if she did anything to deserve it, we dont know if hes the abuser, all we know is that a man struck a woman, so there is no context. What we do see, is the text "its never okay to hit a woman, ever!!" implying that in no situation, should any man even think of hitting a woman, which is an obvious fallacy, if you are defending yourself from physical assault its okay to use physical force on anyone (within reason, dont punch a toddler because theyre pushing you). So we reach the final conclusion which is, no, this isnt a statement about domestic abuse, its a fallacious statement about using physical force on women as a whole.
EDIT: also just remembered the first part of the womans post, it literally says "It doesnt matter what she did" implying that even if she did somehing bad to begin with, it still isnt okay to hit a woman, no matter what, GG, you tried.

What a woman did could be both present and past depending on the timeline you refer to. What she did could be 5 second ago when she defended herself or tried to assault you.
My point being that it doesn't literally remove the possibility of it being tied to her assaulting you or self defence.
It's an open statement.

I agree with your closing statements but I think the first ones are too full of assumptions. You can't say that women in general can't pose a threat to men. I've met plenty of women much larger than me,are you saying that somehow I'm still a larger threat to them despite me weighing a solid 130? You're also assuming they're unarmed. I think the idea isn't that men should just go around hitting women, but that in a hostile situation in which you would punch a man who was attacking you, then you should also punch if it's a woman attacking you, and not feel as though you'll be ridiculed or punished. Which is the current state in a majority of places. But again I agree it all depends on context, violence should always be avoided when possible regardless of sex, but self defense is also self defense regardless of sex.

Just because you can put someone down without violence doesn't mean you always should. Sometimes you have to prevent future violence. It's called a deterent. You don't have to end their life with one punch but a sizable show of force can have the desired effect.
