Being fearful of the way someone looks is wrong, like disfigurement some people are afraid of that, like that woman with 1 arm who presented a children's TV show in those scenarios we blame the people who are afraid as ignorant, we are taught to not judge a book by it's cover but why should being afraid of innocent men be a case for victim blaming? As much as feminist men seem to love this shit, this kind of talk is damaging to me as a woman. If every man self-identifies as a monster, that means I am, by default, looked at as a victim. I do not proclaim victimhood. I will not wear that disgusting title proudly. I will not debase myself so that men can martyr themselves for the approval of women. You want to fight sexual violence? Grow a fucking spine. Volunteer at a shelter or organization that supports men and women in need of help. Don't roll around on the ground at the feet of feminists and claim you're helping society by recognizing yourself as a potential monster. OK, gender issues and all the other stupidity in this article aside, I'm going to pick on one intellectual point:

The very concept of "working to dismantle the basis for this power disequilibrium (i.e, patriarchy)" is an example of postmodernism. Postmodernism is based on the idea that all knowledge is culturally relative and arbitrary, so we can reveal these arbitrary cultural roots through deconstructing the concepts to their basic assumptions.

The trouble is the same deconstruction can be applied to any other ideology (such as feminism) equally as well. So we see obtuse quasi-intellectuals like this guy objecting when the same relativism is applied to his pet beliefs.

There was another article by a male feminist posted yesterday where the same sort of confusion was evident. The author complained of "Moral relativism disguised as multiculturalism". He was complaining of multiculturalism because Yale was inclusive to a member of the Taliban who was very anti-feminist. The trouble is that multiculturalism, feminism and moral relativism are all stem from the same root - they are based on the idea that all knowledge and value are arbitrary and culturally conditioned.

From an intellectual perspective, this is why all the various leftish groups are always fighting among themselves. All of their positions are based on relativistic attacks on a hegemonic ideology. But now that their ideologies have gained hegemony, it is clear that none of them have any firm basis, as they are all relativistic to the core. So there is nothing left for them to do but attack each other.

This is a perfect example of how damaging feminist/social white-male guilt can be. Women, or even society in general, are often quick to attack, berate and guilt men for being men, never really thinking twice about the harm they may be causing to those men, but there is most certainly plenty of damage being done(damage that those men are then told to 'man up' to, just to add insult to injury). Never once, have I ever seen any feminist(mainstream, post-modern or which-ever generation) even acknowledge this harm or acknowledge their complicity in causing/supporting it. Sexism against men and racism against white people are not something that should be ignored or protected; allowing them to happen are forms of sexism/racism in of themselves.

Seven years ago, I was headed out to do my laundry. It was early, before dawn, and the laundromat was across the street. Entering the building, I saw a young woman gasp, before crouching behind a washer with a look of pure terror on her face. My immediate response was to be dumbfounded, and it took the woman only a few seconds to realize that I was there to wash my clothes. She apologized, and went back to watching her laundry. I said nothing to her. Feeling frazzled, I loaded a washer, and then walked back to my apartment, still trying to process what had happened.

The woman had evaluated me as a sexual predator. The woman had evaluated me as a monster. Should I have felt indignant? After all, didn’t my overflowing basket of clothes indicate my intentions in entering the building? And why should I, simply because I was born a son and not a daughter, have been seen as a threat?

But I did not feel indignant. I felt ashamed, and I felt embarrassed. I found myself crying for some time. But I don’t want to give the impression that I felt that I was the victim in this situation. People’s actions reflect their experiences, and whatever led the woman to experience me with such fear must have been terrible.

I can hear some male readers trying to interject here. Is it really fair for a woman to judge all men based on a few “bad apples”? Isn’t it irrational for a woman to treat men as a homogenous bloc of potential abusers and rapists?

First of all, let’s try reversing these questions. Was it fair for men to do such damage to a woman that she cannot help but see us as a danger? Is it rational for a woman who has experienced this violence to deny its likelihood?

Second, these questions suggest a sort of postmodern thinking, in which gender equality is accomplished not by working to dismantle the basis for this power disequilibrium (i.e, patriarchy), but rather by simply blinding ourselves to these entrenched gender differences, and seeing men and women as “just people”. In effect, this strategy boils down to eliminating inequality by denying the possibility of its existence. Because such an approach denies the existence of power, it necessarily benefits those whose power is already entrenched. Beyond that, it allows the privileged classes to dismiss any real movement for equality as “sexist,” “racist,” or “class warfare”.

Finally, we should remember how male dominance affects the lives of women. The most recent study suggests that men rape an estimated 1.3 million women every year. Nearly one in five women in the United States have experienced sexual assault, while one in four have been beaten by a partner. [1] To put these numbers in perspective, consider that of the 2,709,918 soldiers who served the US military during the Vietnam War, 363,590, or about 13%, were injured or killed. [2] [3] To live in the United States as a woman is to live in the midst of a warzone. And so long as that war continues, so long as the male class makes war against the female class, it is absurd to suggest that women should default towards seeing us as a neutral party.

Beyond shame and embarrassment, another feeling rose within me on that laundry day seven years ago. I felt rage. Rage first of all to those whose inhuman actions did such damage to the young woman in the laundromat, and millions of other women every year. I felt enraged also that beyond destroying women, these men are destroying the possibility for men and women to co-exist peacefully. Finally I was enraged about men’s lack of response to this violence against women and against peaceful human relations.

Men can talk all they like about how rapists and abusers are a small minority. We can talk all we like about how we personally love and respect women. But until we act in solidarity with women, until we become allies against sexual violence, until we start doing the work necessary to stop those perpetrating it, we are only talking. If we want to stop being seen as a class of monsters, we are first going to have to work with women to dismantle this terroristic patriarchy.

I think that this is a sad article, but I don't really have the disgust for him that I see in some of the other comments.

He seems like a curious, brave in his own way, guy who is a casualty of the cult of aggressive feminism. In a year or two he may take the red pill, and his background in feminist theory, as well as the archive of self-hate it brought on him will serve him well. I think that a lot of male feminists are intellectually brave and compassionate men who have had their better traits used against them.

What he's missing is a counterpoint to patriarchy theory. I think that mocking him and sneering at him is counterproductive. We ought to feel bad for this guy, and reach out to him.

I dunno. Is it fair for women to do such damage to a man that he cannot help but see them as a danger? Is it rational for a man who has experienced this violence/theft/fraud/emotional-abuse to deny its likelihood?

There! Once you establish the fact that women can and are perpetrators of crime against innocent people, you get rid of this notion that somehow them being victims is worse than anyone else. I can see these types of arguments justifying racism: "See! Look!" Says the racist, "That black fellow robbed that white person! We're legitimate in our racist views of black folks, cuz some black folks hurt white folks."

Yea, that argument wouldn't fly. Neither does the argument that it's okay to be suspicious/sexist towards all men just because some are bad. This article doesn't even acknowledge male victims in the least, and it demonstrates how untenable a position is that tries and paint one perfectly capable moral agent as the perpetual victim and the other as the perpetual perpetrator.

SMDH. PEOPLE are horrible; they just find gendered, racial, sexual-oriented, religious, classist, etc, ways of doing fucked up things to other folks.

Argh. The author doesn't get it: He could spend his life apologizing for men's behavior, and women would still treat him as non-human, an outsider. Why? Women dont resent us for what we do. They resent us for what we are.

Feminists won't stop hating men until no man is stronger than the average female. Until no man is faster, quicker-witted, or able to understand STEM concepts in greater depth. Until their raging inferiority complex tells them that oone is better than them at anything.
