I can understand, to a point, giving her money (and 10000 is already much at that. Something slightly above minimum wage would make more sense, to not promote this course of action for a carefree lifestyle) but having to pay for her pets is ludicrous.

I hate the idea that someone can be accustomed to a lifestyle, and therefore always deserve to get that lifestyle.

This is clearly a case where stinky piles of money are part of what this guy brought to the relationship. If she is no longer in the relationship, she should no longer get stinky piles of money. Sure, if she sacrificed something for the relationship, she should be made whole. So say she quit her job to support him (she didn't), she could be paid something like unemployment until she got a new job or a reasonable amount of time (2 years, whatever). Put the same requirements on it as unemployment, she must still be looking for work, etc..

If she instead was with a really tall guy, and they broke up, the tall guy wouldn't be required to pay for another tall guy to hang around her and pull things off the top shelf, even though she might be accustomed to that part of the lifestyle. Similarly, she shouldn't have to pay a prostitute to have sex with him, because he was accustomed to getting sex in his lifestyle with her. (or a cook, maid, etc..)

They use the justification of 'standard of living,' but it goes beyond the amount of money spent. His standard of living involved her companionship and sex with her. It wouldn't be reasonable to expect her to give him hugs, talk him through bad days, and then blow him, so why is it reasonable to expect him to pay her the value of a new car every month?
