When straight guys finally figure out that anal/oral/handjob all feel the same be your partner male or female... women will be screwed.
But not literally. :P
[–]Whisper 84 points85 points86 points 15 years ago (38 children) | Copy Link
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
It's like that joke I like to tell: "How do we know being gay isn't a choice? Because there are straight men."
[–]fondueguy 5 points6 points7 points 15 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
When I heard that one woman ranting about women don't like pictures of straight up dicks and get turned on when things are mixed up more, better mood, etc... I just became jealous of gay guys; not that I fundamentally believe what she says.
But I would much rather be attracted to people who are more simple when it cones to sex, and they view it that way themselves. Add to that gays also have the option of relationships so I see no downside.
[–]wild-tangent 2 points3 points4 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, there's that. And then there's the school of thought that sexuality is like food, you learn what's edible and what's disgusting and that's almost entirely cultural.
Most people learn that the female body is pleasurable at their mother's tit. Straight guys may just be more sexually timid then non-straight men and thus keep to what they know.
[–]ManThoughts 13 points14 points15 points 15 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Speaking as a man who has tried nearly every (legal) sexual activity one can think of, this theory is nonsense.
I am straight. I am kinky as hell. I am sexually attracted to women. I have nothing against gay guys, or what they do with each other, but I am not sexually attracted to men. And yes, I have experimented with bisexuality.
[–]SarahC 3 points4 points5 points 15 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I have nothing against gay guys, or what they do with each other, but I am not sexually attracted to men. And yes, I have experimented with bisexuality.
You're one of the few guys I could say that had no hang ups about being a little bi. (not that you are)
I totally thought I was 100% straight until I tried things out, and found my body responding despite what I thought would happen.
[–]ManThoughts 5 points6 points7 points 15 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I've made out with a man and tried very light, non-penetrative anal play. It was not unpleasant or revolting but it also really didn't do anything for me. Just...neutral.
I fully admit IRL that I think guys are hot in some ways. I can't get past male faces. I like male bodies and male genitals, but the male face turns me off. On the other hand, the characteristics of a woman's face are often the most appealing thing to me about her physically.
I do enjoy getting non-sexual massages from men more than from women.
[–]embs 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The massages might have more to do with hand strength than anything else. 110lb girl versus 170 pound guy? There's a reason I pester my (male) roommate for a massage when I really, really need one.
[–]ManThoughts 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree completely. I like really, really hard massages, like to the point where they're painful, so I always request a guy.

I think I have to take some time and make the "Bisexual Arrogance" bingo card.

[–]devotedpupa 4 points5 points6 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, me too. It kind of says narrows it down to black and white. Either 100%, 50-50% bisexual, or you are sexually timid. No room for "I just like skinny guys and all women, or blond girls and all men". Nop. Your timid. Because I know you better than yourself.

To be fair, thats like the saying "I'm just saying". If one were to say something like, "you're fat, I'm just saying..." it doesn't really stop people from getting annoyed. While I agree you were just presenting a view point and you weren't trying to sound arrogant. I think you'll be very disappointed if you expect people to react to that correctly.
Sorry, I argue a lot so I like to give advice when I can. Take it or leave it.
[–]rantgrrl 3 points4 points5 points 15 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I found this whole exchange somewhat amusing.
After all it started off with me heavily implying that sexuality is conditioning. Which everyone seemed to like. Then some guys said 'I wish I was gay.' And then I was like, 'well maybe it's cultural and you could be!' And then everyone was like 'boo hiss'.
People. Can't live with them, can't stop being one.
[–]Jahonay 2 points3 points4 points 15 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Well in fairness one thing you said is that straight men may be more sexually timid than non-straight men. And while I've seen several bisexual guys, I've also seen plenty of gay men who wouldn't touch a woman. And thats just saying that straight guys aren't afraid to try new things, they don't want to because there's no attraction there. And that happens with plenty of gay men too.
hope this helps

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Ha, well you did dare to buck the hivemind in this. And on a gay issue? That takes balls.
The school of thought you mention is interesting, but I suspect it has more to do with some kind of imprinting early in life (and I don't mean a single imprinting incident - I mean a series of self reinforcing ones). Although, both ideas could be factors. Until they find a way to clinically and reliably demonstrate an infant's future orientation, I just don't accept that it's biological or genetic. Of course it's possible that they just haven't discovered it yet, but shouldn't that be when the claim is made?
Edit to add: The net result of what I'm suggesting remains the same. By late adolescence or adulthood the patterns are so reinforced that it never would seem like a choice, and the early experiences that brought about whatever orientation (or combination thereof) may not have been a conscious choice either. Some of it would be entirely random, what a child happens to be exposed to when the little sexual light bulb goes off in their head.
So share me some of those downvotes for saying something other than "OMG I LOVE GAYS SO MUCH OF COURSE IT'S NOT A CHOICE". Honestly, I'm pretty indifferent to the whole thing, I just don't see enough evidence for some of the claims being made.
Well... I have nothing if not balls.

I understand that this is somewhat meant as a joke. And I don't have any problem with gay relations.
But it seems awfully reductive, and based on crass anti-male stereotypes, to portray hands and holes as the only thing men desire in a relationship with another person.
Men can and do love women very, very deeply. Hole or no hole. But it is becoming harder for us to do so, everyday. The females of the future will spit on the graves of modern feminist women for poisoning relations as much as they have.

I think her experiences would have actually been a lot worse had she experienced dating those other women as a man. Even in dating other women, she would have had a considerably easier time as a woman. A lot of those expectations women have from men(personal, social, assertion, professional and/or financial) they wouldn't have from a woman; a lot of the "expendable male" apathetic predisposition towards men that society encourages wouldn't be there for a woman; all the anti-male hysteria/fears wouldn't be an issue for a woman; and a woman's time, attention and sexuality would still be considered far more appreciated, desirable or valuable than any other man's would be. I think, however bad that one woman's experience was, the issue of general female entitlement and privilege is actually far worse than she realizes.

[–]fondueguy 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Wouldnt bi men solve a shitload of sexual paranoia about men sexuality? As in if women keep complaining about every tiny thing men do or don't do sexually... Then meh.
Maybe sanity would come from the idea that men could be lost or earned and its just dumb to bitch about men's sexuality. Fuck I'm absolutely sick the media bitching about powerful men's sexuality and completely ignore the women they cheat with and then calling all women victims... Really how is that?
[–]ManThoughts 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, bi men may be able to say "forget about it" to women giving them shit. But bisexuality is not a possibility for most men because they're not into it. And in the end, EVERY man be they straight or bi should be willing to say "forget about it" to a woman playing princess.
Agree with second point. Women don't ever do anything wrong in affairs according to the media, their brains are just silly putty to be molded to an evil man's desire.

One of my all time favorite books is Self-Made Man and is a book about a lesbian who explores gender differences by dressing and living as a man for 18 months and then writes about it. In it she tries to engage in some stereotypical "straight guy" stuff, and that includes trying to date women. Being a lesbian, it gives her some really remarkable insight as she already knows all about dating women as a woman, and gets to compare it to dating women as a man.
Anyway, one of the things she said which has always stood out to me is how she has always heard straight women complain about how horrible men are when it comes to dating, how men suck, etc, but she says women only say this because they have trouble in dating, and since they've only ever dated men, they assume it is the men who are the problem. She then says in reality women do all the same stuff that straight women complain that men do, but since straight women never date women, they don't know this is just how everyone is, male or female.
As a straight guy I've never dated men, so I have no idea how different it is to date men vs. women. I find this rage comic interesting though. I wonder if it really is easier for people to date men than it is women. I would guess men can be every bit as much a pain in the ass as women are, but maybe just in different ways.
[–]thetrollking 16 points17 points18 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I didn't read all of that book but skimmed it once. What stood out to me was that she thought she, being a radical lesbian feminist, would make a better man than a born male man would because a woman in a mans body would be the perfect emobdiment of maleness. I thought the dating parts were great though, especially how she recognized how horrible women can be with rejection.
I also like the part about how the men accepted her and the parts about the strip club and coming out to her bowling friends.
Oh, and I especially like the part about how she went fucking insane and had to be hospitalized after living as a man for less than two fucking years. It isn't even like she went through puberty as a male or had to deal with HS or College girls. Less than two years living as Ned and she had to be fuckin hospitalized for depression and what not.
She claimed, after that, that messing with gender identity is a really really bad idea. Feminists are so interested in re-engineering maleness and they don't even seem to know what the end result will look like or how it will act and all we get is more guys abusing drugs and killing themselves or being drugged into submission.
especially how she recognized how horrible women can be with rejection.
Hm?
[–]guizzy 4 points5 points6 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I really liked that book as well. She came in full of preconceptions and had them shattered one by one. The weakest part was the one when she infiltrated a men's support group, that chapter was a bit too condescending, but the rest was spot on.

Honestly it's been a number of years since I read the book and I've since loaned the book to someone so I can't go look up the specifics, but it was fairly general stuff. Things like standing women up, flaking on them, not calling them after a date... stuff like that. If you want to know more, I really recommend the book. [–]ExpendableOne 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
I disagree. I think gender-driven social differences or, more importantly, the general issue of female privilege and entitlement(Especially when it comes to sex, men and dating), and the social attitudes/predispositions that support and/or perpetuate them, is entirely pertinent to the cause of gender equality and within the confines of the men's right movement.
[–]toblotron -1 points0 points1 point 15 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I agree that gender differences exist and need to be acknowledged, but I don't like it when it comes in a "all womenz r beatchez" format; I've looked at too many feminist comics where "all menz r dawgz" to not be troubled by it.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 15 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
A woman is the protagonist, though. That precludes an "all womenz r beatchez" conclusion from anyone who wasn't going into it with one.
[–]toblotron 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You have a point there - it does make it feel less accusing. Still - how would we like it to see the same strip about men?
I can see the point (and humor) of the strip, but I still think it comes off as a bit too bitter towards women. - I've seen plenty of strips like this about men, and I'm sick of them.
PS - I might be having a whiny day.
If it were a woman making a comic about men, I'd be irked. If a man made a similar comic about men, I'd give it more thought and wonder if it might actually be true. See, if a woman makes a comic about men, she's basically just whining and then expecting other people to laugh at her shrill, hysterical accusations. But when a man makes a comic about men, he's providing anecdotal but unbiased evidence that the stereotypes frequently whined about are actually true. Same with genders reversed.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The comic doesn't, I think the comments about it do. I found how quickly everyone just kneejerked within it to be pretty interesting and a little depressing. It was just someone giving their experience in dating, and that it was rough. But a pretty big chunk of people just jumped in horror at it as a "HOW DARE YOU INSULT ALL WOMEN!" thing even though it clearly wasn't.

Maybe the one thing that separates us is the complete hatred this subbreddit has for feminism. There are also posts such as this one: http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/ht120/i_got_this_in_email_form_forwarded_to_me_by_a/ where the discussion, while it sometimes made me cringe, was generally insightful and interesting.

With a few adjustments I would say. More than "feminist" OneY is deeply antagonistic of /r/mensrights in a sort of agnostic vs atheist way. OneY is the guy that is pretty intelligent, and takes time to appreciate all points of view, but sometimes get waaay into Buddhism, while mensrights is more to the point, has an agenda, wants to change things, but sometimes says thing like "all Muslims are killers" or "all the Catholics are pedos"
Putting women on crazytown and men on heteroville isn't going to cut it over there.

Those that name themselves agnostic and those that name themselves atheist are though.

[–]devotedpupa 2 points3 points4 points 15 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
That's what I'm saying. I'm talking about the people that don't understand or care and insist on exclusivity. It's part of the us vs them mentality that I used in my comparison.
Yeah, I was going for what 15 year old atheist feel when they turn 16 year old agnostics before realizing all of what you said. "I'm not an arrogant atheist" "I'm am not a pussy agnostic" Then, you read a bit, and realize how pointless it all was, and that you share some common goals.
[+]ManThoughts -8 points-7 points-6 points 15 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I don't agree. A woman is expressing that she now realizes how difficult women are. Which is a valid topic for men's rights.
[–]devotedpupa 10 points11 points12 points 15 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
So saying how difficult women are is part of men's rights?
[+]ManThoughts -6 points-5 points-4 points 15 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yes. And when a woman, through a process of self-discovery, concludes we have a point, it's worth discussion.
[–]ManThoughts -4 points-3 points-2 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes - Our relations with women are one of the main areas our rights are compromised. I don't get where the disconnect is...
The disconnect is, this is not f7u12, or any other place to whine about your friend-zone. This is a place to point out and discuss where our RIGHTS , not our feeling, are compromised. A egotistical bitch is not infringing the law, nor is your ex or your awkward crush.
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I did it by just not giving a shit about sex or women until I found one similar to what you appear to be. Standards and lack of compromises on said standards may have screwed me out of a lot of pussy, but at least what I got/get is quality :D

the 'modern' male/female relationship is basically two lesbians trying to figure out who's more butch and one of them happens to have a dick.

Really, i always figured it was the guy being treated as a pack mule.

No, not really, it's actually a lot more complicated than that; and you don't just happen to have a dick and fuck whoever the hell comes along.
Human 1-"Ok identical other human do you have a dick with you?"
Human 2-"No I didn't happen to be born with one."
Human 1-"That's to bad, I guess we'll just finger each other."
Human 2-"Do you feel like having a meaningful relationship?"
Human 1-"Nah, I'm no into that. Also I'm in control so bend the fuck over because I'm going to do things to you that you won't soon forget."
-The typical modern male/female relationship

Simple concept that applies to just about every relationship in life: Don't try to be friends with someone you're not trying to be friends with. Your boss? Friendship can lead to lots of trouble. Your client? Friendship can lead to awkward requests. Your boyfriend/girlfriend? You're heading for the friend zone.

Realtalk from MyPostingCareer
...It's why [homosexuals] will never ever be accepted, it's a pathological quest for acceptance that will never happen because they know inside that they're broken people and no amount of passive acknowledgment will be good enough for them. They need constant public affirmations that their habits are healthy and normal, which even under basic psychology is pretty good proof that they're not. In a way, it's a lot like [Something Awful] goon behavior, they want to constantly prove they're smarter than everyone else because deep down they want to make up for their broken lifestyles, even though they can't perform basic functions like changing a tire.
edit: "women are broken" = upboats!

Big fucking deal, who isn't?
They need constant public affirmations that their habits are healthy and normal, which even under basic psychology is pretty good proof that they're not.
Non-homosexuals don't seek approval? It seems like someone didn't catch vocab like, "Maslow's hierarchy of needs" in their basic psychology course.
In a way, it's a lot like goon behavior, they want to constantly prove they're smarter than everyone else
Either you're horrendous at finding relevant quotes or the site you quoted is even more of a pile of horseshit than you previously made it out to be.
even though they can't perform basic functions like changing a tire.
How many gay men has the author watched on the side of the road? Does this knowledge get bestowed upon a man once he eats pussy? Is the use of a stereotype for an argument any less "broken"? At least we can string coherent thoughts together.
edit: nevermind. At first, I thought you were a spammer, so I looked at your history. Until today, I didn't know there was a /r/niggers. Eat shit.
