I thought I'd share a story from my husband's cop files. He gets called to a domestic. The woman is standing in her driveway, makeup running down her face. "He hit me!" He's out in the street picking up his golf clubs. Not only did he not hit her, she threw his expensive clubs out in the street and clawed the shit out of his arms TRYING to get hit. My husband said it looked like she'd taken razor blades to his arms. She has no marks, not even a red spot on her skin. She's called the cops before - they're in the middle of a divorce and she's after full custody. This was the first time anyone had any injuries.

After a brief discussion with both parties, my husband arrests the woman, much to her shock and very loud amazement. She proceeds to call my husband everything but the son of god and kicks him in the shins which actually draws blood. Bonus charges! No idea what ultimately happened with the case, but there were no more calls to that house.

Amber's public behavior - denying the felonious assaults on tape, ignoring her custodial time, dating a sex offender - point to mental illness.

The fact that she denies mental illness suggest that she's untreatable at this time and is a danger to her ex-fiance and her child.

Lock her up for the full sentence and give her treatment while she is securely incarcerated. If she's in any way redeemable, we'll know after she's paid her debt to society.

As someone whose girlfriend was obsessed with this show, I applaud. The rest of them, I could tolerate. Amber and Gary made me want to nuke the fucking planet because of how fucked up they both are.

Please don't glorify him by saying that he showed "unbelievable restraint like a boss." My impression of Gary over the course of that show was "fat, lazy, employable but unwilling, and generally every apathetic problem that I see in my generation blown up to exaggeration." Most likely he wanted to respond, but just couldn't muster up the energy to give a fuck.

It's a felony because a child witnessed it but if the child was being hit in a a far more painful and degrading manner it would not be a crime unless there was "unreasonable" physical injury unanimously decided by a jury. The mother in this case was the one financially supporting the child, a felony could impinge upon her earning power drastically. I think losing custody along with anger management, parenting classes and psychological evaluation should be the consequence for committing domestic violence in front of a child. But if her battery of the father is otherwise a misdemeanor then charge it as such unless. Although if I were a prosecutor, I would be tempted to make a deal dropping the felony only if she got on implantable birth control for a probation period.

Why should we escalate the problem further by getting ourselves and the police involved. If gary didn't press charges and amber doesn't continue to harass them then I don't see the issue.

If I was in a relationship and somegirl punched me in the face in anger but then stopped. I would simply leave. Wait for her to to calm down. And then tell her I will not allow myself to be abused that and I would end the relationship.
