Before my Mom met my HV Dad, she said she would go out and never get hit on and wonder what was wrong with her. A male friend told her that because she carried herself with so much confidence, men knew not to approach her at all because she put off a “don’t even bother unless you have your shit right” energy.

I have the same energy. I still go out with my friends, looking hot af, and haven’t been hit on in years. But I know that nothing is wrong.

I broke up with my ex 3 years ago and simply haven’t dated or had sex because no one has approached me (Shitty messages on OLD do not count as approaching). I hadn’t really thought about it as being voluntarily celibate. I don’t pursue men and I can’t have sex with someone who can’t even approach me so I will remain sexless until a man who has his shit right decides to approach me, court me and be vetted.

Sex and dating have NEVER been at the forefront of my mind or at the top of my list of desires. I’ve decided to be abstinent since the end of my last relationship. Yes yes yes!!! I am single and celibate, and it has zero to do with religion. I just got taken advantage of so many times in my twenties, both with sex, and even things like phone sex or BJ’s with someone I was only on the first couple dates with. IMO, it’s just not worth it to be sexually active at all until you know someone! Our grandmothers knew this, and I think it’s just common sense.

I haven't had sex since July and I feel like a new person. But these feelings are fleeting and I just end up having a solo mind blowing orgasm and move on with my day. It’s also very unlikely a hookup would offer me an orgasm so why bother?

Why don’t you see men complain about hookup culture as much as women? It’s simple because it benefits them. Men get to cum whenever they want while women rarely ever cum from sexual intercourse “casually”. Guys just are not invested in pleasing you while having sex casually.
