Okay I dress completely down. I wear plain clothes I’m comfortable in (nothing sexy), no make up either. I get zero attention from men. Do you know the type of women who get a bunch of attention from men? The women who fit unrealistic beauty standards to a “t”. For me to get attention from men I would have to start changing the way I feel comfortable presenting.

I would say both genders have a hand in driving unrealistic beauty standard.

Literally all humans are like this and it's not even related to dating only.
All humans try to get the best possible outcome for themselves without thinking of the bigger picture, even if it hurts them in the end.

So to describe what I mean and how it's related to your post :
Women realized that being attractive gets them benefits so they tried to be more attractive, but the problem is that when too many people do something, that something loses it's value so you need more of it, or to be better at it and so on, or in this case, a woman needs to be even more attractive than before, because now that many women are trying to be more attractive, just being hot is not enough, she needs to be absolutely stunning 10/10 to get the same benefits that hot women 7-8/10 would get before. (on absolute attractiveness scale, not on a relative one).
In short, those 7-8 women would be considered as 10/10 women, if there wasn't so many women who tried to be more attractive.

And in the case of men:
Why is male attention basically considered worthless ?
Because way too many men give it away freely.
Would it be better for literally all heterosexual men if men stopped doing this ?
It definitely would as it would make all men more valuable
So why men don't stop doing it ?
For the same reasons why women don't stop trying to be more beautiful. They think that they'll benefit from it in one way or another.

This will never change, it's human nature.

It’s mostly corporations that are to blame. They market beauty standards and then sell the solution. The solution they sell is makeup, plastic surgery, etc. Keep in mind that men also wear makeup. For example South Korea where many men wear foundation or bb cream. Many women in korea actually did rally and protest against makeup but it didn’t really help with the problem of lookism in their country.

Men want a woman who is “naturally” the gorgeous beauty standard.

That’s .000001% of women for 4 years of her life. So most women supplement with makeup. And many overshoot it.

In the same way women want a guy who’s naturally fit and broad from lifting hay all day. Most men don’t have manual jobs and many men aren’t born with broad shoulders. So they have to gym like crazy to achieve “the sexy working man” look. And many over do it since there no real way to get that look unnaturally.

Women, they wanna blame men for all these unrealistic beauty standards? That's a load of crap. Sure, maybe some rich and powerful men helped spread these standards, but the women, they are the ones who really propagated them. With all their makeup and their representation in the porn and glamour industries, they are the ones responsible. Most men, they can't even remember what a woman looks like without all that makeup.

But if the women wanna make a change, they gotta fight against the makeup industry, the porn industry, and all those ads that try to sell sex. They gotta go back to looking natural. And the men, they'll adjust. They'll learn to appreciate natural beauty like they used to.

I don't think it's a beauty standard at all. Men and women are constantly upping their intra-sex competition by whatever tools and practices are available. The "standard" is just the some value in the current attractiveness/beauty-distribution that is far enough from the mean to be noticably different and rare. Just like "tall" for body height is relative to the population and not the maximum observable body height, but still noticably above average height.

It's impossible for all women to reach the beauty standard, because it's not defined as a fixed value of attractiveness.

It's like saying, the standards for making at least 3rd place in a race are unrealistic. It's impossible for everyone to make third place, because it will always be the three fastest racers who define what third places requires.

Men and women are basic their "beauty standards" of a top percentile of currently observable attractiveness. It's not meant to be achieved by everyone, but it must be achieved by some. So it cannot be "unrealistic".

So yes, women control their own "beauty standard" by how beautyful they are as a group, or rather the beauty of the top performers of the group.

While I agree to an extent, my ex wife rarely wore makeup. I remember a mutual friend once mentioning this behind my back and how she could be so much prettier. So some dudes seem to expect it.

Matter of the fact is that men in general wouldn’t treat top women any different than now, if no women wore makeup. It’s just that the women at the top would be the ones with natural beauty as opposed to the ones who have mastered the art of caking on makeup.

I disagree. Beauty standards are 50/50. There's supply and there's demand.

For every woman that gets a BBL, there's likely several men who like larger butts and smaller waists. So the woman uses some $$ to enhance herself and take advantage of that demand. Same with breast implants or lip injections. Both parties play a role here.
