TLDR: In order to maximize genetic survival, men instinctively compete for access to as many women as possible, while women instinctively compete for access to the highest value male.

First I will outline why this observation is true, then apply it to explain a lot of differences in social behavior of men and women.

For men, it is pretty simple to understand. The genes that get propagated the most are the ones that cause men to have the desire to maximize the number of women he impregnates. More impregnations = more genetic propagation.

For women, it's different because a woman propagates genes by giving birth to genetic offspring, which takes a period of 40 weeks. Obviously, she is unable to use the male strategy of genetic propagation. The genes that get propagated the most are therefore the ones that make her instinctively seek the most powerful man as father of her children. This has 3 main benefits:

  1. Her offspring have good genes, which increases the chances of their survival and hence, subsequent propagation of genes
  2. Having a powerful man as a father to her kids means she has a powerful man to hunt food and protect the tribe. This increases the survival chances of everyone involved.
  3. She has access to the powerful man in the future to create further offspring with

So what do we learn? Men instinctively compete for access to as many women as possible, while women instinctively compete for access to the highest value male.

Having established this fact, let's see what we can apply it to. Here are only a few of many examples.

#1 10% of men get 60% of the matches on dating apps. Women are literally competing for the same men. Why? Because women instinctively compete for access to the highest value male.

#2 Men swipe right on MOST profiles on Tinder. An average man is willing to fuck most women, because his instincts are literally telling him to impregnate as many women as possible.

#3 Men with high body counts are seen as desirable. Women see a man with a lot of female attention as an indicator that other women view him as a high value male.

#4 Women with high body counts are seen as undesirable. This one is a more indirect application. Because women compete for high value males, they are instinctively pickier than guys. An easy woman is therefore seen as behaving anomalously from what is typically expected and she may be seen as "biologically defective"

#5 Men who are in relationships receive more female attention than single men. Like before, this is because women see a man with female attention as an indicator that he is a high value male and as a result, she becomes more interested in him.

#6 Men are hornier than women on average. This is because men instinctively want to fuck as many women as possible to spread their genes. Women are pickier and in search of HVMs. Once she gets access to an HVM, she becomes just as horny as a typical man, maybe more, at least from what I've seen.

#7 Infidelity rate is 7% higher in men than women. Same reasoning as #6

#8 As an avid reader of romance stories and shows as a teen, I noticed a common difference between romance stories for boys vs for girls. While the male MC's love interest may take literally any form as long as she is sexy, the female MC's love interest is invariably the #1 most popular guy at school, tall, rich, fashionable, etc. in other words, literally the epitome of "highest value male". The instinctive desires of men vs women are reflected in the differences in these stories.

#9 Women are twice as likely to forgive cheating than a man would. Because, in a fucked up way, the exact same reasoning as #5 applies here. Seeing another woman desire her man, may counterintuitively raise his value.

#10 Women are happier single than men. Because men are literally programmed to be sex machines. They want access to a woman to have sex with at all times. Women are conditional sex machines. They only really want sex when a highest value male is in the picture. When she does not have access to him, being single isn't that bad.

#11 Ugly girls and pretty girls are often in separate friend groups. Competition for a mate is fierce between females. Although they have an easier time getting casual sex than men, unlike men, they aren't satisfied unless it's the highest quality partner. As before, we see that women are competing for literally the top men - a tiny percentage. Some of this competition manifests in the common phenomenon of ugly girls bullying pretty girls, whom they see as a threat to their access to HVMs. That's also why you rarely see ugly girls and pretty girls in the same friend group. Men on the other hand, being programmed to be sex machines like they are, are happy with just an average "fuckable" girl as a partner. As a result, bullying between men is less often related to sexual desirability to the opposite sex. And you see ugly guys and handsome guys being friends all the time.

#12 The common stereotype that women are attracted to wealth, fame, and power didn't come from nowhere. That is the quintessential caricature of "highest value male"

#13 The flirting vs harassment meme is unironically true. Women will break their rules for you if you are an HVM.
