What do you think of 'old fashioned' male chivalry in regard to women?

My mother (she is elderly) tells me that some men give up their seat on the bus when they see her. She also tells me that the men who do this usually come from 3rd world countries.

At work, with clients, I stopped opening doors for women. But I still do it if they are Russian women. It is my impression that Russian women enjoy such polite gestures by men.
