I did get remarried about 2 years post split with my exwife. She’s really nice.

My exwife got remarried too. But her remarriage ended in re-divorce after 6 months.

I often wonder about my future prospects for relationships.

I certainly would never remarry. But that in itself puts me in a moral quandary because of religious convictions.

At the same time, going from 30 to the grave completely celibate sounds rough.

I don't think I have much to offer a woman. Time is tight as a daddy to two little ones and they're always going to be my priority. I don't want to date a woman with kids, but then I'd have to ask a woman to be OK with me having kids and not giving her any.

Mentally, emotionally and financially I'm fucked.

And let's say I was to overcome all that, I personally don't like the idea of asking my young kids to accept their dad with another woman.

So, yeah I don't feel positive about future relationships and certainly not marriage.

Yes. Are you cynical or just see reality? What is the point of entering into a contract where the chips are stacked against you in family court? I will not get married or co-habitate. Not in this 'modern' time. If people get married, i can respect that, but not agree. I get called all kinds of things for my stance, but i call it a smart financial move. Its like going to vegas and expecting to come back a millionaire. Yes, it can happen, but it's rare.

I wasn't single for long. We just moved in together. I have no intention of getting married and she's fine with it, but we'd still like to live out the rest of our lives together (if all goes well).

Inviting the government into your relationship creates too many legal hassles should things not work out. Breaking up is hard enough, without all the lawyers and legal expenses. And these days, no one thinks twice about unmarried couples living together.

But I LOVE it this way. There's not all the drama around money that you might have as a married couple. What's mine is mine and what's hers is hers. Plus, I know she's with me because she wants to be. She's free to leave at any time if she's not happy. It's soooo much better than being married.

About 60% of divorced men remarry. I still want everything that I wanted on my wedding day. If I can get it, then I will jump at the chance. However, after having my naïveté taken advantage of once, I do not know how I can trust someone like that again.

Almost all of the replies you are seeing say that you should never remarry. However, that is a problem because women who have their act together are more likely to be interested in a committed, long-term relationship and a subset of them really do want to get remarried. So by starting off saying that you never want to get remarried, you are self-selecting a pool of women who are more likely to be into casual dating. These relationships are super unstable and more likely to be toxic. So it creates a negative feedback cycle where you will get more and more disillusioned and worst of all, you will get damaged by interacting with these dysfunctional people. You'll start creating pages of boundaries, red flags, and other junk that prevents you from having a meaningful relationship.

I think you should keep your mind open to a long-term relationship that could lead to cohabitation and marriage IF you meet the right person; don't limit yourself to women who only want casual dating/FWB. Sure, a prenup is not perfect and yes, the state will get involved, but that is a small price to pay for the potential of a loving, healthy relationship that allows you to have a supportive partner.
