I wanted to write about how my marriage ended. We met in high school, but didn't date till about junior year in college. Both virgins when we first had sex. After we started dating we were inseparable. We had sex every day. We never fought. When I graduated two years later, I moved 2000 miles away but we decided to do the long distance thing. After 2 years of long distance she said she wants to get married or break up (her family was telling her this because they thought she was wasting her time with me 2000 miles away). I agreed to get married, she moved in with me and we had 2 kids fairly quickly. Our second kid ended up being special needs and she stayed at home to home school him while I worked like crazy to afford our lifestyle. We always lived in high cost of living cities.

Fast forward to the pandemic, she gets her first job ever but it's remote because of the pandemic. Then at the end of the pandemic she starts going in person. This job has her working with a ton of women who are divorced or single and they party a lot. Some guys there as well. At the end of the pandemic I get covid, a pretty bad case, and I am stuck on the couch for 3 months because my lungs are so bad, and I go from 200 to 230 lbs. I'm pretty tall so 200 is ok, but 230 was not ok.

At the same time I gained 230 lbs she starts being on her phone all the time. Texting someone. When I ask her who she's texting she has there's a group chat with her coworkers. I said I never text my coworkers, what are you texting all the time and she gets defensive. It definitely caused a strain in my marriage.

We go on vacation at this time, I pay $350/night for a great hotel, she doesn't have sex with me at all. Now I'm really suspicious, I'm also self conscious about gaining weight. I think she lost attraction and respect for me cos of the weight gain.

Then on Halloween she says she's going to the party with her coworkers. Keep in mind that she's worked here about 3 years now and I've never met any coworkers. I wasn't too happy about it but I said when is it and she said 6pm. I said can you come back by 8pm so we can drive with our kids in the party places of our city where you can see all the dressed up people and she flipped out, she said she won't be back until 10pm or later, I'm controlling, blah blah.

She ends up going to the party, I'm mad because she prioritized her friends over her family, and at 9:30pm she calls me. I'm mad so I don't answer. She calls again and again. Then she calls my son and says she was in an accident. At this point I go to the scene of the accident, I do what police wants me to do, I move the stuff from the car that's now totaled, I go to ER with her until 6am. She only had a bruise on one arm so it wasn't too terrible, but you still have to go check it out.

During this time she's very moody, angry, lashing out at me. I go on a business trip couple of days after the accident and she completely ignores me, doesn't text me, no communication. Two weeks later after my trip, she tells me she's getting a pregnancy test. I was like what?? I was gone when her ovulation was, so how could she even think she's pregnant? I kind of push it out of my mind when it's negative. Then I get a rash on my thigh and junk area. I don't sleep around so I'm like where the heck did this rash come from?

Then she loses my credit card and I go to look for it and in her desk I find a letter from a coworker. It was all like, oh you understand me, I love our talks, you're the best blah blah. I google the guy and he looks like me but 10 years younger. I flip and lose my shit and confront her and she said oh it's part of his therapy he had to write a letter like this to everyone. I ask her point blank are you sleeping with this guy and her response was "He has a girlfriend" I was like that's not the response I was looking for, so if he's single you'd sleep with him? Then she says he's engaged to be married to one of their coworkers.

Around this time she starts acting like she's possessed by the devil. She is angry, evil, moody, combative. I seriously thought about getting a priest! Then she tells me she has no more affection for me. I still tried to make things work, but she was resisting. Then she said no more sex. After 2 months of no more sex I couldn't do it anymore. She said she'll have sex with me if I agree to the divorce and I said ok. That's when she booked the mediator and we had 2 sessions and agreed on the asset split and alimony. Our kids are adults. We just signed the final papers a month ago.

It's just crazy to me how seemingly happy marriage of 20 years collapsed within a few months. And how she changed from a nice wife to someone who looked like was possessed by the devil. The texting at night, the party, the car accident, pregnancy test, rash, letter from a coworker all happened in such a short period of time.

Now I know what you'll say, she's sleeping with the coworker, blah blah blah. She wasn't. But she found friends at her work and liked them more than me. They also filled her head about how bad and controlling and narcissistic I was.

She also told me her first 20 years sucked cos she had a bad childhood, then her next 20 years sucked cos she was married to me and she doesn't want her next 20 years to suck. That's where I was floored, 20 years of being stay at home mom, home school mom, with 2 beautiful kids and it all sucked? This is how women rewrite the past to make it horrible to give them an excuse to leave.
