It was depressing to do budgeting.. I named my Google sheets document Freedom Budget because e it was really the price of freedom.. now budgeting to sort out support etc isn't depressing anymore!!

Nice, congrats! Great to get such a good deal without lawyers.

We didn't have kids, and my state bars alimony for cheating, so I managed to get away with making a choice between selling the house and having no debt, or taking the debt but keeping the house. Either way, she was walking away with 35k. I chose to keep the house, and the last two years have been really rough, basically can't even afford to run the heat, but house has gone up about 40k in value, so almost a profitable decision to keep it. Plus I get to keep living on the golf course, instead of an apart with constant crime.

And while I know divorce doesn't care about this, it's incredibly unfair I came into the marriage debt free and over 100k in assets, and she came into the marriage with 23k in debt, and she gets to leave the marriage debt free with 35k, and I leave it with the above house but 35k in debt and no real equity. That doesn't even count how I was the only one who worked in the marriage, and we spent literally all our money on her.

I realized buying a new suit for work last year that I hadn't gotten anything for myself since 2019.

Aside: since people are also throwing out numbers. In my case, no kids, married 12 years, she didn't work. I pay $7.5k/mo in spousal support x42mo = 3.5 years.

Dude, can someone tell me what actually happens after the judge signs the order? I cannot find information ANYWHERE online about what happens the next day? The next pay period? The next few months? Is it true that they are going to aware back CS from the date of her filing? Is it true that they will immediately start garnishing 50% of every paycheck? Am I going to get evicted because I can't pay rent? Is child support really 25% of income a month?

Can SOMEONE please tell the size of the train that's about to slam into me? Please?

For reference, Arizona, one kid, teenager, ex makes more than twice what I do, and I have zero parenting time. I don't talk to my ex at all in years. The judge should sign it next week.

Can anyone please help me understand what's about to happen?

I agreed to 800/mo for 1 kid just so she stays away from the rest of my shit. She has a lawyer and I do not. I was very generous so I hope it pays off.
