Q4W: To those who think men and women are equal, why have women's leagues, women's bathrooms, women's clothes, why even call yourselves "women"?

Women are men are equally valuable and should have equal legal rights. It doesn't mean they're the same though. Men can't give birth, women are physically weaker, men can't breastfeed etc. You confuse equality with sameness.

My husband and I are equal partners, but we are not the same.

Women's equality has never been about saying men and women are 100% the same, and attempting to argue this point is intentionally engaging in bad faith debate.

Anyone with eyeballz and a brain can see that men and women are different. But equality has always been about political and economic equality, not biology.

why use the women's bathroom?

Single bathrooms are fair game. Whichever one is empty I use.

For larger bathrooms, lots of places have family restrooms where I live. I usually use those since I often have my son with me. When I'm alone, I use the womens bathroom because I don't want to make a spectacle of myself or make men/boys uncomfortable if I were to walk in.

Why do you wear "women's" clothes if you think you are equal?

I wear both. My husband complains about it all the time since he can never find any of his t-shirts/hoodies.

Go around shirtless like MEN do if you want to be equal

This is completely legal where I live. However, I won't even wear shorts or a bathing suit in public (lack of confidence), let alone go topless.

Equal doesn't mean identical

We should have the same rights as each other and be treated equally under the law.

But biologically males are stronger and females give birth. Parents are equally important in a Child's life (unless one of them is dysfunctional.) and have an equal right to be in a Child's life (again, unless one of them is dysfunctional). But it's the bio mother that's responsible during the pregnancy and it's the bio mother that produces milk.

This isnt the gotcha that you think it is

Equality is more about making things more fair and giving women more freedom over their lives than treating both genders exactly the same. Jobs that need a lot of strength are going to hire men most of time and that makes sense. Midwives are going to be women most of the time because women are more comfortable with strangers that are women seeing them naked and that makes sense. There’s inherent differences and that’s ok. What’s not ok is pushing rules that don’t make sense and are inherently unfair.

I find them prettier. I also don't wear all kinds of women's clothing, so that automatically means I'm nit equal to women with different styles than me.

Muslim men are not allowed to expose anything from naval to knee. Obviously muslim men are not equal to men of other religions who can freely show some of those body parts.

Why only apply this to gender? I also have a race and an ethnicity. I'm Croatian, that's a matter of fact, just as me being a woman is, I don't have to "identify" as anything. So am I equal to an American woman? Why would I be equal to a Morroccan woman and not to a Croatian man?

Do you identify as a man? Do you think you are equal to billionaire men? 7'2 men? Disabled men? Why?

I think men and woman are equal psychologically and in most physical aspects, but obviously I understand that there is a biological difference between being of the male or female sex. To me "equal" does not mean "the exact same" but rather it means of equal value and of equal capacity. We have different clothes because our body shapes are generally different. Ie women's pelvis and butt/thighs are generally bigger plus we have tits, while men's shoulders, hands/feet etc are generally bigger, plus they are generally taller. So it makes sense we'd wear differently cut clothes. I don't understand why there has to be a femininity/masculinity divide in clothing though, beyond personal taste.

As for sex segregation I only use "women's" bathrooms/locker rooms/etc because I have no right to invade the men's and there isn't always a gender neutral option. Not because I personally give a shit about what kinda people I share such spaces with. These are social conventions people kinda just have to follow if you don't want to cause trouble.

I call myself a woman because it's medically and sexually relevant that I'm of the female sex. It quickly and easily informs simple facts like for ex I don't have a penis, that I get periods, have a potential for pregnancy, don't have as much muscle mass, etc.

Boobs need support or they hurt and are very sensitive to the elements and I don't like men staring.

And i don't wanna look at penises or smell men farts.

I know we're not equal. We're superior, that's why we get our own clothing, bathrooms, and melon holders and men get a gross hole to shit on each other in while their nips are cold and their clothing is boring and silly.

I'm actually a gender abolitionist but I recognise some things are needed to keep women safe now. In an ideal world we wouldn't have to, but in reality the world isn't equal enough yet that removing women's bathrooms would simply prevent women from going to the toilet outside their home. In the case of women's sports and clothes it's simply a response to physical differences, women have different physical strengths and are shaped differently. (I do wear men's clothes pretty often but most women would be too curvy, and I wouldn't want to go outside without a top on male or female!)
