For the record, I’m a woman.

I’m also left leaning.

So I understand concerns women have with men because I’ve experienced them as a women. I’ve been assaulted, stalked, and it took me along time to be taken seriously professionally due to my gender. I understand. I’m also a minority women from a country that doesn’t respect women, and growing up was fighting with my distant relatives on their sexist stances.

I’m giving all this background info because I DO understand how hard it is to be a woman, and I’m quite petite so I live in fear walking late at night, etc. and I DO think we have to talk about this as woman.

BUT

I’ve seen these statements made online before and by acquaintances, and I think men should be very cautious of these women:

  • men serve no serve purpose

  • literally every time a man is near me, I get annoyed

  • men are pathetic and easy

Etc, etc

These are under the guise of “empowerment” and “feminism” but it’s not. What this shows you is that you are going to be dismissive to men’s issues, would not value your male partner, expect your partner to empathize with everything you think but not reciprocate.

It will lead an emotionally abusive relationship.

And I don’t think feminism is about hating men at all, but creating an equal playing field for both genders, which could mean elevating women in some aspects (e.g lots of women are still not in positions of power due to the glass ceiling).

But the only way to do that is also recognizing and understanding men’s issues and working together.

Edit: to add a real life example that triggered my rant is emily ratajkowski statement that she is “cutting out men, they serve no purpose in her life unless for romance” and “men are only for pleasure and fun”. Although not as bad as the statements I wrote, it is objectifying.
