I would say it with more nuance.

Men have a better chance of becoming more desirable with age, if they put in the effort of staying fit, hot, and being successful. Women can be successful too, but that won’t add to sexual attraction.

That does NOT mean all men become Clooney and Pitt by default, that is a laughable theory easily disproven.

Furthermore, to jump from “men can age like wine if they try hard” to “older men all get to bang lots of 22 year olds” is very inaccurate.

Finally, the above does NOT mean that “women who age all become withered crones who are not attractive to anyone.” Women can also age like wine, if they try, but they should focus on looks and personality, not a career, as assets to grow for sexual attraction.

I'm a 42 year old man and I would say that I've become a more desirable partner as I've aged, not just from advancing my career and accumulating wealth, but growing as a person and being a better partner.

I'm not looking for a fertile younger woman; I normally date women my own age (+/- 5 years) and I'm definitely looking for a woman with accomplishments. I need a partner and that includes financial responsibility and independence.

Don't worry about anyone who thinks you've lost value because you're not as attractive as you were when you were twenty or guys who say they don't care about a woman's career; you weren't going to be interested in them and there are plenty of guys who will appreciate you.

Going to shoot straight with you. Men in general care A LOT less about their woman’s status or career than vice versa. Yes, all things equal a well to do man will want a doctor more than a teacher as a wife. But as someone who’s dated doctors that also entails long hours by them, often times masculinity on their part, and a lack of a desire for larger families. As someone who can provide for myself i have no problem breaking up with a doctor for someone who can show more commitment

You will never hear a group of male friends brag about the money their SO makes, paper she’s published, etc. it’s 90% appearances. Women historically wanted status and providership. Men want fertility and youth.

Because men don't care how rich a woman is. If a girl is beautiful I couldn't care less if she has 1 dollar or a million dollars. On the other hand women actually find successful, experienced men more attractive than unsuccessful men in general.

But TRP is about value in terms of sexual attraction. Your value to society is whatever you want it to be and work hard for. You can bring a lot of value to the world as a doctor helping people. But a man will not be any more turned on by you when he finds out you're a doctor, whereas a woman generally will be much more attracted to a man after finding out he is a doctor.

That's in reference to sexual market value and it ties into the differences between men and women.

Men tend to put an extreme amount of emphasis on looks. Most women reach their peak in that area in their early twenties and tend to lose their looks faster than men do relatively. Things like status, power and money matter, but much less to men than to women generally.

Men do get less attractive with age, but the drop off isn't as sharp and other things women like help take up the slack. A man can have orders of magnitude more status, power, money, etc in his thirties and forties than he does in his twenties and since his looks fade slower, he can theoretically be in a better position to get the women he wants then than he would be in his twenties.

Theoretically. All this stuff is a lot more complicated in the real world than it is when people theorize about it.

I'm a male of somewhat equal qualifications (vague) and while telling young women you are a doctor will perk up everyones ears, its only of a minor bonus going the other way.

I know men who married female physicians because of their career and they are all contemptible losers.

Your value to men doesn't increase much with your status outside of that. A very attractive unemployed man is going to often (and usually) lose to a average doctor, but a very attractive unemployed woman is probably win in a relationship vrs a average female doctor.

My observation is that the fabled "Wall" is just a natural product of fewer people being single as time goes on and couple pair off, and the fact that women date in much narrow age ranges than do men. A 40-year-old man may be interested in women from 18-45, but a woman the same age rprobably won't want a man who is either significantly older or younger than she is. Dating is ultimately a numbers game.

The good news is that you're fairly physically attractive (average or better) and don't have kids, you'll retain your "value" indefinitely. In fact, childless women are the unicorns of the plus-30 dating market, as most women in this age range have them and most men would rather not put up with them, lol.

Women prefer to date up in age so as they get older they naturally have a smaller dating pool available. Men are the opposite.

Men’s looks don’t matter as much so aging doesn’t effect their attractiveness as much. I’d also argue they age mire gracefully than women if they’re not going bald.

What women care about in men tends to grow over time. Money, social skills, social status, muscles, all take time to grow and thus most men will be attractive when they’re older.

Older women are in a hurry to settle down and have kids due to their biological clock, so for a man, dating a younger women gives him more time to enjoy life with her before doing marriage and kids. Older women also have more baggage for previous relationships.

If you mean valuable as a physician, then sure, age, and with it, experience, make you more valuable in that regard. If you mean valuable as a potential mate, then no, age decreases your value. The older you are, the less pretty and fertile you are.

Because evolution shaped men and women differently. It favoured those men -- or more accurately, males, because this happened to our pre-human ancestors -- who preferred young females. The young females were generally more fertile -- they tended to be healthier, and they had more reproductive years ahead of them. So, such males had more children and we, the modern humans, carry their genes. On the other hand, it favoured females who preferred males with power. Such males could better protect the females and their offspring, so more survived, and consequently, we carry their genes as well.

Of course they do, but the consequences are different and can be mitigated.

The problem is this: as far as fertility goes, there is only one thing that correlates really well with it, and that's the woman's age. But power can manifest itself in a great many ways. It can be actual physical strength (muscles), or being in a position of authority, or being in a position of respect, or being famous, or just having a lot of money.

Fundamentally, when evaluating a potential mate, the man thinks "how many healthy children can I have with this woman?", and the woman thinks "how well will this man take care of me and my children?". And the word "thinks" should be in quotes too, because it's usually not conscious, but rather an instinctive kind of thinking.

Do all men become more valuable with age? Hell no! But they at least have the possibility. The tragedy for women is that no such possibility exists. From your mid-20's, your value as a potential mate only goes down.

They have a great job, good for them.

Men aren’t interested in women with great jobs, per se. If anything the kind of commitments that tend to come with the best jobs make such women slightly less attractive to men. While the idea of a “doctor wife” is relatively neutral, the idea of a “wife you don’t see because she works 70 hour weeks” is a negative.

Men aren’t especially attracted to high status women the way women are to high status men.

Are they valuable?

Yes, to themselves. Yes to society.

But ... to a husband ? It’s a wash. This doesn’t make them especially more valuable in either the SMP or RMP. When other negatives of “important jobs” are included it may be a slight net negative overall.

Because this is specifically attractive to women. The status of important jobs is sexually and relationship attractive. The ability to “do so well” and displaythis ability to climb the Male dominance heirarchy is both sexually and relationship attractive. The money and resources is also relationship attractive. To women.

None of the above is particularly attractive to men. Not in the same way. If you’re assuming men’s attraction pattern follows the female pattern here, you assumed wrong.

Men have other things they are interested in... beauty, youth, a woman who is available to be their gfriend/wife and to raise their kids if they’re “heading that way” with it.

Yes, but in a much less severe way... and much, much later in life.

For a woman this comes with the end of fertility in the 30s (approaching the wall) and 40s (wall arrives) and is done by 45 (splat!).

For men this same age period is “the happy hunting ground” when they are best placed relative to women to have fun in the SMP. 30-45 is when men are relatively the best placed they will ever be with regards to girls.

The male decline is more gradual. Kicking in 45-55. With any “real” splat moment happening late 50s and 60s and much softened by this point as the early death of males starts to mean there are many more men than women on the “old age pensioner” market.

The way I see it, there are 2 parts to this issue:

1) Women are attracted to men who display leadership, and they appear to appreciate financial stability and emotional stability. Men get better at these things when they get older.

2) Men are not attracted to the same things women are, it appears we have more of a drive to be competitive so we don't need a partner to do that for us. Beauty and fertility is what we are after.

You will be desirable to thousands of men. The final part to this issue is that from my observations, you will not likely be willing to "date down". A Physician guy would take a girl from McDonalds if she is cute enough, but women appear to not be as willing. Unless the guy was elite in confidence and Charisma, but then he will likely have access to the most beautiful women, so why choose you?

I can only speak my my own personal experience but I'm approaching the big 4.0 soon and dating has gotten extremely easy. Tbh, it was never really difficult, most of my ex gfs were the ones to ask me out, but lately if i connect with one they will send me the most cringeworthy texts. And i tell them im poor so it's not over money.

So it does seem like at this age there is definitely a flip flop in the dating market.

It's just denial from men's part, honestly. Humans are visual creatures, regardless of whether they're male or female. Sure, it might be easier for a rich old guy to score a woman who's young and hot but chances are (unless she has serious daddy issues) that she will not be interested in fucking him, and when she does, she will be thinking about someone else. I guess that works if all men care about are a hole to stick your meat into, but I'm not going to underestimate a man's emotional validity simply because he has a penis. Also, women are capable of aging gracefully and beautifully if they take care of themselves. That's why the term MILF or "cougar" exists. The idea that women get less valuable and men get more valuable is a hilarious, chauvinistic, generalization.

I think it is more that young women start off with an immense amount of fertility based value, due to the fact that women don't get to keep that their entire lives. That eventually fades away.

But you're right, there's a bunch of other issues involved and a 45 year old woman with a well paid and secure career is in a far better situation than one without such a thing, and yes men's fertility value also drops as they age and it is very rare that a normal woman in her most fertile years would choose a 45 year old man over a 25 year old man with similar levels of health, wealth and status. He may prefer a younger wife but chances are he can't have one.

Also worth noting, the few young women who go for very much older men mostly seem to be broken or disadvantaged in some way, if you're a man getting yourself a mail order bride or a bipolar chick with daddy issues or a girl with disability problems just seeking shelter or a girl who detests any form of work it is not the same thing for your future prosperity and happiness as taking on a woman who is normal, smart, culturally suited to her environment, not seeking shelter from anything and hard working. That older men get to scrape the bottom of the barrel in search of fertility well it is a thing but I'm not sure it is a thing worthy of envy.

Also, the average man's need to be provided for materially as he ages also rises, a lot of what we see here is complaints from men who have not yet fully considered what it means to save for retirement, what it means to age and need care, and that a couple of childless 45 year old physicians who throw their lot in together are going to do significantly better than if they went it alone. Men's form of being attracted changes just as women's does, we all become more about the provisioning.

There's a very strong tendency too, for guys who have not made a good start in relationships and sex to try to argue they've got more time to sort it out than they really have, and part of this is the attempt to dump all responsibility for urgency in the sexual and relationship marketplace onto women. men don't need to worry about time! That's a thing for women! Complete poppycock of course, there's hundreds of guys out there who peaked in their mid twenties and will never have it so good again no matter what they do. You see just as women are attractive young due mainly to their fertility, men are attractive young due mainly to their potential. Every year that passes that potential becomes a reality, and for most that reality will be substantially less than the potential. Them's the facts, that's the reality.

The challenge here is that successful women such as yourself typically look down on men who earn less than they do. No man wants to be the guy a woman reluctantly settled for. No guy wants to be in a position where he isn't truly respected or he has to "make up for it in other ways".

A male physician would have no problem dating a nurse, a therapist, a school teacher and so on. Sure there are exceptions but the vast majority of female physicians would not consider these options or, if they did, would fester an underlying simmering resentment. Your lack of respect for men who don't earn at your level doesn't apply in reverse.
