Why do TRPs and MGTOWs struggle so much with their relationships and with women in general? It’s not attractiveness or attraction. It’s not money. It’s not lack of “alphaness” or game. It’s not feminist or leftist oppression. It’s not ratings, SMV or N counts. It’s co-dependency.

Co-dependency is defined as: “excessive emotional or psychological reliance on a partner, typically a partner who requires support due to an illness or addiction.” Those of us who were alive in the 80s might remember the term “enabler” being used a lot. Co-dependents are very needy, and they find partners who are even more needy, often to the point of being super destructive. A co-dependent will marry the alcoholic who needs them to clean up after them when they go on a bender, who needs them to cover for them when they miss work or forget to pick up the kids, who needs them to figure out how to pay the bills this month because they drank all the rent money. Through their partner’s extreme neediness, they find a sense of purpose in being needed by someone who is needier than they are. But more often than not, it ends up being a shitshow of abuse, neglect and suffering.

Let’s examine the evidence as demonstrated by the common themes from threads and comments by TRPs and MGTOWs here and elsewhere over the years.

• TRPs and MGTOWs display an obsessive need to be validated by women. Even when they “swallow the red pill,” they’re still putting most of their life’s energy into seeking women’s approval and acceptance.

• TRPs and MGTOWs talk incessantly about feeling a great loss from not being needed by women, often correlated to the waning of traditional values. Many to the point that they admit they would much rather be needed by a woman than wanted.

• TRPs and MGTOWs talk about entertaining fairy tale notions of love and being disappointed that they never experienced the kind of love they expected from women, a love that sounds far more like them playing the savior with their “resources” than any healthy romantic love. They want to be the superhero.

• TRPs and MGTOWs seem to have a knack for finding the worst kind of dysfunctional women and repeating this cycle over and over. The very phrasing of “swallowing the RP” and de-pedestalizing women suggests that even they understand the harmful patterns inherent in how they choose women and relate to said women. AWALT is true for them but because they are subconsciously picking a certain type of woman that fulfills their addiction.

• They seem to all relate stories of bending over backwards to please the women they’re with and it never being enough. They conclude that it’s because women are never happy. The object of a co-dependent doesn’t appreciate their caretaker, they actually resent their caretaker. Also, the co-dependent doesn’t express their needs but assumes they should be met which takes resentment to deafcon 5 level.

• TRPs and MGTOWs are fanatically obsessed with losing their partner (the object of their co-dependency) to someone else, preferring to assume all women will eventually cheat and or leave unless you use manipulative tactics that remind women of how much they need you.

• Quite a few TRPs and MGTOWs on this sub admit that they’ve tried RP, they even swear by it, but still relay that their relationships with their wives or women in general still aren’t that great. Maybe because they haven’t really addressed the true cause of their problem?

TRPs and MGTOWs don’t struggle with women per se, they struggle with co-dependency. CMV.
