What would you assume to be the issue if a man were to come to you and say, "I'm pursuing women in a socially acceptable way and I have normal social habits, but I am unable to find a date or gf."?

He's trying to punch above his weight. And/or he can't read social cues.

[–]disposable_pants2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So knowing almost nothing about this guy, your immediate assumption is that it's his fault?

[–]OfSpock2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

There is research from OKCupid showing that men send messages to women who are two points above them in attractiveness. So I have odds on my side. Combine that with the fact that he's having no success and what seems likely to you?

Your choices are:

  1. He is not attractive to a single woman in the world.
  2. He is attractive to some women but he does not pursue those women instead pursuing other women who are not interested.

    a) He can't read social cues

    b) He can read social clues but ignores the women who are interested in him because he wants better.

I mean what else is there? Women would be attracted to him if he used some special pheromone you can buy in a spray for $99.99?

One argument I see from blue pillers all the time when OK Cupid research is presented is that the OKC population is probably different from the general dating population. How would you respond to that?

I mean what else is there?

At least a few possibilities:

  1. He's in a tough dating market -- a place with a bad male-to-female ratio, or an abundance of exceptionally high-SMV guys, or a place where culturally he's not a good fit (maybe he's from a buttoned-up East Coast area and he's living in Southern California).
  2. Whatever "socially acceptable way" of pursuing women is really a bunch of blue pill platitudes that are designed more for politeness than for actually having success with women.
  3. He's been unlucky.
  4. He's only approached a few women.
  5. Most of the women he's ran into have had inflated expectations.

(4) is the first thing I'd focus on; if he's only talked to ~10 women in the past year it'd be easy to run into 7-8 "bad" ones (5) and simply not gel with the others (3). If he's approached considerably more women (1) is more likely and (2) is most likely.

[–]OfSpock2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It does correspond with men's behaviour in real life. Seriously, there are always guys who have real high opinions of themselves. Old guys for one. LOL.

But a good reply nonetheless.

  1. Usually, people mention special factors, so I didn't think of this.
  2. Works for everyone else.
  3. Eh, unlikely, unless 4.
  4. Again, I sort of assumed that if he was at the questioning point, he had tried a few times.
  5. This is more a male thin, see above. If they can get better guys, they aren't inflated. If they would rather remain single, wel...

[–]disposable_pants0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Works for everyone else.

It doesn't, though. Many men aren't happy with how successful they are with women, and they're using blue pill advice for the most part. Many other men who found a partner using blue pill advice didn't actually benefit from that advice, they just got lucky. Had they not happened to (for instance) move in next to a cute neighbor who was also single and who they clicked with, they'd be in the "aren't happy" category. There was no real plan; something just fell into their lap.

This is more a male thin, see above. If they can get better guys, they aren't inflated. If they would rather remain single, wel...

Just like there are guys who have too high an opinion of themselves and turn down women in their league, there are women who have too high an opinion of themselves and turn down men in their league. I'd argue it's more prevalent in women because they can so easily get validation on the internet/dating sites/Tinder/etc. If they can have 50 guys message them within a few days of setting up a profile, that has an effect on what they view as attainable (even if it doesn't materially affect what's actually attainable).

He's unattractive or really boring or he doesn't actually understand what socially acceptable behavior entails. He thinks he's being normal/socially acceptable but really isn't.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

So, your making a blanket statement that all men who can't get a GF are in some way unattractive, really boring, or socially awkward?

I thought BP is against generalization about genders?

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 9 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

all men who can't get a GF are in some way unattractive

Isn't this kind of a given? I mean no matter which "pill" you are, if you can't get an SO despite attempting to do so, you're probably unattractive. Only someone truly delusional would deny this.

[–]selfcontrolapp[S] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel like I've done something admirable here by bringing the pills together.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Isn't this kind of a given?

No its not. There could be mental health issues, medication for chronic illness, addictions, hard on money, etc. Many reasons.

The reverse is much more of a given, all men who are unattractive will have a very hard time finding a girlfriend.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There could be mental health issues, medication for chronic illness, addictions, hard on money, etc.

All of which could make you unattractive.

Attractiveness isn't just physical, come on aren't you a terp?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

All of which could make you unattractive.

Not in the least bit. Look at JFK with his drug problems or Charlie Sheen with HIV.

Attractiveness isn't just physical, come on aren't you a terp?

The vast majority of all people refer to attraction as physical.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not in the least bit.

You don't think mental illness could possibly make you unattractive at all? It depends entirely on how it presents itself surely?

Look at JFK with his drug problems or Charlie Sheen with HIV.

Famous people can get away with fucking anything indeed.

The vast majority of all people refer to attraction as physical.

Within PPD we know attraction is not limited to physicality.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

yeah, no. If you visit the FA forum, and if you look at their pictures when they post them you'll see that many if not most are decent-looking, if not attractive. The problem is that being attractive to get a girlfriend no matter how ugly or fat she is is nearly impossible unless you are a 8/10 guy, and if you want casual sex with a 5 or below you have to be a 10/10

[–]monkeysinmypocket3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then why do I never see couples who are that mismatched in the looks department?

This is one of RPs favourite tropes, but there is no evidence for it in the real world. It seems to be a way of projecting male attitudes (obsession with physical appearance) onto women in order to make everything their fault. In reality everyone cares about looks and no one wants an unattractive partner but everyone knows what their level is. Except dudes who can't get dates because they always go for women out of their league.

[–]Shazoa2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Plenty of people manage it. It's not nearly impossible in the slightest.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

LOL. This is just what ugly guys tell themselves so they can keep thinking they're 6s or 7s when they're really 2s and 3s

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

LOL this is what ugly women/men say

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

well, they're upholding the blue pill fantasy, so they are going to make it out to be that if a guy can't get laid, he's not a 5/10. ''most men are in relationships'' uhhhhh sure? they're trying to make it seem that if a guy can't get a girl its because he's ugly or fat. It has nothing to do with girls 15-30 hpyergamous nature to bang as many hot guys as possible, and only realize the other guys have dicks when they develop baby rabies.

[–]Desoxynscript0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

it's his looks mainly and what he represents in terms of how she perceives him. it has to be. and by the way the stuff you described is secondary and complementary to looks, don't get it twisted. your looks represent what you are capable of, its not just looks for looks-sake.

women don't even really care for you to pursue her in a socially acceptable way, sure it can be fine but you sound like a pussy OP the way you worded this, they rather something creative or unique as long as your not too pushy. I honestly think that if you buy everything women say they see it as a turn off. its about instinctually knowing which things are appropriate and which things aren't and if you can't manage that you're nothing.

[–]tiposkChad Thundercock: the story of a manospherian homoerotic fantasy3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I was present at many therapy sessions (long story) and couldn't help but notice that people with difficulties to find a partner have one thing in common: fear of love or commitment. This comes as a shock to many because this fear is unconscious and doesn't seem reasonable, so people tend to explain their situation using their "common sense", which tends to fail because of our cognitive biases. Therefore, the most common explanations are "I'm ugly", "I'm poor", "women only want x type of guys" and so on.

This kind of people in my experience tend to self-sabotage and incur in rejection-seeking behavior. They ignore women that are likely to be responsive, sabotage potential relationships and chase women that don't like them or women that also have difficulties with commitment.

One of the reasons why it's so hard to recognize this problem is because many of the guys that have it are normal looking

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Of course it seems reasonable to fear commitment. Women can cheat on the guy they are dating so easily. They can fuck the guy's friends without him ever learning about it. Women can go out and get laid whenever they want(even 300 pounds landwhales can get laid). Its dumb as a man to give commitment to a woman and to develop an emotional bond with her because women are only loyal to their options and as soon as a beter-looking/richer guy comes along its bye bye.

Plenty of men, including less than perfect men, enter in committed relationships without being cheated on. People that cheat tend to have certain personality traits and people who get constantly cheated on tend to attract and be attracted to cheaters, which is an issue they have to deal with.

People develop a bond with people that complement them emotionally, a woman that has a bond with her guy doesn't go looking for the next opportunity to dump him for a better guy.

you mean they ignore, ugly, fat, desperate women?

No, any kind of women as long as they seem interested.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No, they don't. They enter relationships with women who can't cheat on them because they lack the necessary looks to bang the men they want, the alpha males. Given the chance for it, most women are goign to cheat on their boyfriends with the alpha male.

People that cheat are people with options, so pretty women are going to cheat on the guy with the bigger, better deal, and the women who don't cheat on their partners either don't do it because they can't, or because they are dating an alpha already.

People develop a bond with people that complement them emotionally, a woman that has a bond with her guy doesn't go looking for the next opportunity to dump him for a better guy.

Women don't develop bonds. Most relationships don't last long and women cheat massively, they're just very good at hiding it.

No, any kind of women as long as they seem interested.

Why would a man ignore an attractive woman?

[–]tiposkChad Thundercock: the story of a manospherian homoerotic fantasy0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It requires more to cheat than being able to. Anyone can cheat but not that many people do because they don't want to risk their relationship, and no, women who are in a satisfying relationship don't go out looking for the next alpha to cheat their partner with. Believe it or not, status and masculinity are not that important compared to an emotional bond. I don't know where you get that from, but the only people that aren't able to develop bonds are people who've been hurt and psychopaths.

Why would a man ignore an attractive woman?

Because their fear of commitment is bigger than their desire to date. In fact, commitmentphobic men can easily see an attractive woman and focus on her defects: not thin enough, hair too short, ugly nails, less than perfect teeth, you name it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Any woman can cheat, and alpha males can cheat, yes. The rest of the men can't, unless you count prostitutes as cheating, but that would only reveal the man is of low status.

o, women who are in a satisfying relationship don't go out looking for the next alpha to cheat their partner with. Believe it or not, status and masculinity are not that important compared to an emotional bond. I don't know where you get that from, but the only people that aren't able to develop bonds are people who've been hurt and psychopaths.

Women are in a satisfying relationship until the bigger, better deal shows an interest in them. Then they come up with a whole assortion of BS to justify why they are going to cheat on their partners, or why they are going to dump their partners.

, status and masculinity are not that important compared to an emotional bond.

Yeah.. that's why there are millions of guys stuck in the friendzone. Because women don't value masculinity andstatus above an emotional bond..

don't know where you get that from, but the only people that aren't able to develop bonds are people who've been hurt and psychopaths.

Bonds are a waste of time and effort. If the girl is pretty she's cheating on the guy 100% even if he's attractive, if the guy is average or below average the only reason she isn't cheating is because she can't gain access to alpha males for whatever reason.

Because their fear of commitment is bigger than their desire to date. In fact, commitmentphobic men can easily see an attractive woman and focus on her defects: not thin enough, hair too short, ugly nails, less than perfect teeth, you name it.

hahaha, no. I'm not commitment phobic. I simply see what relationships are. An arrangment only women benefit from. They get attention, validation, resources, protection, love, and money. What do men get out of it? Sex? Once in awhile if he's not alpha? Yeah, I don't want relationships because relationships are shit, its not because i fear anything.

not thin enough, hair too short, ugly nails, less than perfect teeth, you name it.

Even if a girl is perfect I'm not going to commit to her. What for? To be cheated on? Or to be dumped?

[–]Desoxynscript-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I'm just describing what I've seen. I don't know what's your problem because I don't know you. You said you've had relationships, right? Maybe something changed within you that is making you avoid further relationships, maybe you come off as desperate to find another relationship and women perceive it or maybe it takes time to find someone.

I don't ignore any women, and have messaged many I don't even find physically attractive.

You're just admitting that they aren't objectively attractive or you don't find them attractive? If it's the later, don't waste your time with women you don't see yourself with. It might be part of the problem or reflecting a problem.

[–]Desoxynscript0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't see how I could come off as desperate as I'm just sending short greetings on dating sites and getting ignored

I didn't say I don't see myself with them, I just don't think they are pretty. I don't think it's a problem. As long as I'm not repulsed by looking at someone I'm fine with dating them.

I don't see how I could come off as desperate as I'm just sending short greetings on dating sites and getting ignored

This is probably where the problem lies. Dating sites are NOT a good way to meet people. Success rates are low and failure rates high. People judge each other by their profile and pic, while irl people take into consideration much more, including how they feel about each other. Chances are that most profiles are going to be ignored or rejected even if the woman would've dated you irl. I suggest you to find some hobbies and meet real people.

Extremes are not good. I don't see why should a woman feel flattered by being banged by a guy who's got no standards. Anyways, the OP is talking about dating, not banging, so it doesn't count.

[–]caesarfecitPurple Pill Man1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Mark Manson says it best with his three fundamentals.

  • Lifestyle determines what kind of women will find you attractive and how much friction you'd encounter. The better your lifestyle and the more well-rounded you are, the easier it is to find compatible and interested women. This doesn't mean you need the body of an Olympic athlete and the income of a Wall Street stockbroker, it just means you need to have your shit together and some interesting hobbies.

  • Courage really translates to how willing you are to approach and escalate. If everything in your life is on point, but guys crashing on their friends' couches are getting more action, it's because they're taking action and you are not.

  • Communication skills i.e. flirting skills determine your batting average. The better your game, the less often you'll strike out.

So in this particular case, if our hypothetical guy is approaching and attempting to escalate with women, and his game is okay-ish, then the obvious place to look is his lifestyle.

Mark manson is full of shit. Since he's catering to the male version of the cosmopolitan, he's going to forget to mention that its all about having 8/10 looks and up, and that everything related to dating and casual sex has very little to do with personality and lifestyle, and everything to do with physical perfection.

[–]BiggerDthanYouBluetopia2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Mark Manson himself doesn't have 8/10 looks

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How many girls does he bang a week? a month? Why would anyone take advice from a guy who isn't a player? Is he he player? I don't follow PUA'S

[–]TelicAstraeus[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd assume he's got some unattractive quality that turns women away, whether a physical characteristic or a behavior that he is either not aware of or isn't aware is abnormal. Maybe he has emotional issues of some sort and doesn't manage them well, or maybe he's dirt poor and trying to date women who don't want to date poor guys, etc. Maybe he hasn't been trying as hard as he says he has been. Maybe when he tries it is without confidence, assuming rejection and it shows in his behavior. Could be any number of things like that.

[–]FatTakerBigender bug kin1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He's boring and doesn't stand out from all the other perfectly normal guys.

[–]redmachines3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Lol at these BP comments. You guys automatically assume that he is defective in his character/personality. This is just world fallacy. The bitter truth is that there are a lot of lame guys who do get girlfriends. They don't "have their shit together", they have no "interesting hobbies", and far more morally bankrupt that the average joe being described.

Probably the best response of the thread. This whole idea that you need to get a nice middle class job, some hobbies, a safe home and maybe a dog before you can have access to women is exactly why people are on TRP because they are fairly decent partners and they see feckless junkies getting girls.

OP, be much more sexually assertive, bordering aggressive. Act like a girl.

Gotta agree with you. Most people in general aren't interesting and manage to find someone.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, after women spend their teens and early 20s to late 20s having fun with alpha males, they settle down with the men they ignored most of hteir lives.

[–]Blaat1985-2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This. Looks factor in far more than personality. People in general are shallow as fuck.

What would you assume to be the issue if a man were to come to you and say, "I'm pursuing women in a socially acceptable way and I have normal social habits, but I am unable to find a date or gf."?

That parts of that sentence were definitely not true....

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

"But I mimicked the average man I followed, down to every word, every tone , every moment perfect - I've gone over the data thousands of times. I know it should work, because I only pursued the exact same women."

"But I mimicked the average man I followed, down to every word, every tone , every moment perfect - I've gone over the data thousands of times. I know it should work, because I only pursued the exact same women."

So your solution is to go after 300 pounds landwhales?

At this point, I have no idea whether you're unable to see satire, or just unable to write it.

Tell me why you think OP's creepy incel went in that direction?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I can see satire its just that people on the internet are pretty bad at it, or they are always trolling so IDK

Tell me why you think OP's creepy incel went in that direction?

What do you mean? Now he's a creepy incel? :/

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Fine. He's secretly Lieutenant commander Data, and his attempts to mirror normal human interaction are adorable.

He's still doing a bad job of blending in.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Normal human behavior do not get men laid. Social skills is overatted, and so is confidence, grooming and fashion sense, because I've met many retards whose pants were falling off their asses and they were hooking up casually with not only attractive girls, but classy ones.

Guys get rejected for casual sex because they lack hot good looks, and that happens even if they go for ugly or fat chicks, as girls are all hypergamous.

[–]ProbablyBelievesIt1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't have the imagination to deal with the kind of women who aren't into my type.

You're no fun.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What are parts of that sentence definitely not true?? and what parts??

[–]HigHog2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I highly doubt a strange man who just came up to me to tell me pursues women in a socially acceptable way really knows what normal social habits are.

[–]Minerva_x40 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Most likely that he was physically unattractive/ugly and that his social skills suffered as a consequence. Possibly on the ASD.

[–]Blaat19850 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He has a look related problem. Ugly face, fat or small height.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He's not an 8/10 male and he's going for 5/10 women.

[–]alderheart0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would set him up on a double date and my husband and I would watch how he does it.

[–]the_shitposting_pillFuckin' bitches on the daily0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would tell him to start dating robots, since he clearly speaks like one.

[–]99_Problem0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He probably isn't pursuing women in a socially acceptable way and/or he probably doesn't have normal social habits.

Or if the man is blatantly physically unattractive, that's probably why.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably very, very boring.

Not having glaring defects means that you are squarely average at best.

[–]lollygagyoSociopathic Fake Flirter0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lack of self-awareness.

He thinks he's being normal or 'socially acceptable' and reasonable but he isn't.

[–]fullmoonhermit0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He's not pursuing the right women (women who share his interests or women who are roughly as attractive as he is), he's not being objective about his own approach, or he just hasn't gotten lucky yet. Modern dating takes patience.

[–]Lonny_zone0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He is ugly.

[–]bornreddMarried Red Pill Man0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Assuming the man came to me, I'd be able to tell very quickly if he:

  • Is attractive or unattractive
  • Has good posture
  • Is in shape
  • Displays confidence in his mannerisms

Once those are assessed, then the assumptions can start.

[–]stats1350 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It would really depend on his age. If he is in his 20's or younger, I would just think he is a normal man just like an other young man. I think men in general all went through this type of hell in their youth. Once they get past that age (and the women their age start looking to settle down after being used up on the CC) they will find themselves a women willing settle with them. If the guy is older, I would just assume he's trying for girls out of his league.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He's predictable, conscientious, scrupulous, appropriate and tactful.

In other words a terrible, reliable bore. Those traits exist for making money and committing to marriage at 30 and kids. He's consciously looking for a girlfriend, but he's unconsciously looking for a wife.

[–]herpterp-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seems like your average/normal guy.

[–]RoseSGS-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He's too worried about what others think.

Socially acceptable doesn't matter. Normal social habits don't exist, and he shouldn't be thinking about himself like that.

He should try to be himself, and he clearly isn't.
