asexuals are outliers (if they even exist at all which im skeptical of) who have no bearing on the SMP so i dont see why they are worth discussing regarding RP, which is a sexual strategy for sexual people

I have a few asexual friends. As I'm one of them older queers, I'm still trying to wrap my head around some of the terms further down that list. However, this is how language works. There's no reason not to have a word for something, even if it's for something incredibly specific.

What I think is interesting is how some people on Reddit are so quick to turn their noses up at the ace spectrum and all the terms that apply, but typically it's those same people who want you to know that they're an ephebophile, NOT a pedophile, that there is a difference, thank you very much. They certainly do seem to understand the desire for nuanced terms when it applies to them.

Asexuality, fine. I think most people can accept the fact that there are some folks that have very low or no libido.

The rest of those terms are horseshit though. I would bet my left ass cheek on the fact that they'll never make it into the common vernacular, and if anyone tried to use one of those labels in casual conversation you'd see a slew of proverbial question marks above people's heads. You'd inevitably have to explain it every single time the word left your mouth and I guarantee that it would fly in one ear and out the other of the average listener.

These terms do not make people's identities easier to explain. They don't increase people's knowledge in methods of dealing with other individuals. They shitty up the English language and make things needlessly confusing so that people can feel like they have a unique identity.

If someone came up to me on the street and identified as apothisexual, my first instinct would be to assume they have a pharmacy fetish. Shit is stupid as hell.

What is there to have an opinion on? Some people don't feel strong sexual attraction or sexual attraction at all. They're not the norm but I don't doubt that they exist. They don't really affect me in any way to care.

Edit: I don't see a need for all of the different labels in the Tumblr picture you posted, though.

My opinion on asexuals is - OK. As in ok, you're asexual. If someone tells me they feel X and I have no reason to believe otherwise (i.e. I haven't caught you jerking off in public multiple times, for example) then I just believe them. If you say you like boys I believe you. Say you don't like flying I believe you. Say you are neutral on ferrets as pets I believe you. etc. etc.

I am aware of asexuality and completely accept it as a valid orientation (or lack thereof depending on your perspective.)

As for the rest of the things you've listed, although I wouldn't doubt that people with those desires exist, they seem closer to preferences than orientations, and don't I think they require special categories. There's a point where words obscure rather than promote understanding, and having 9 terms to describe 'low libido and/or aromantic' is, in my opinion, over that line.

I hold no real opinion on asexuals. I have no reason not to believe they feel how they feel. But I have no reason to make it a focus of my thinking either. It might make an interesting point of study when it comes to the brain and emotions. Assuming asexuality is real, what would it say about how the brain works and what is different about the brains of these individuals?

I think it is fair to say there some kind of normal distribution of libidos among the population with asexuals being outliers at the hypo end.

Some of those terms though sound less like descriptions and more like special pleadings.

I coined the term biologically dysfunctional which covers pretty much any orientation or preference held to strictly thereby preventing procreation.

Asexuality is not something that crosses my mind much and asexuals are not a political force although now it seems that some have thrown in their lot with the LBQT (alphabet soup of your choice) crowd.

The definition you listed is fine, however, it must satisfy an additional criteria, that the person was always originally asexual. Someone claiming they were heterosexual at first and said they morphed into an asexual, especially if it's a guy is just a cop out for not being able to get laid.

True asexuality, as in "I do not feel sexual arousal for anyone or anything", is an extremely tiny, insignificant fraction of a percent of humans. It doesn't warrant any consideration at all. It's really not a worthy discussion topic. It would be like asking what the Red Pill method is for turning a gay person straight or a straight person gay to get them to fuck you, when the answer would be "fuck someone else".

But as with any label, the fucking radicals had to seize it and try to make it more inclusive.

Now, apparently, women who only get turned on if they have a bond with their partner is one type of asexuality, as are women who get turned off the more of a bond they have, as are women who don't form bonds, as are women who have sex without feeling aroused, as are women who feel aroused but don't have sex, as are women who flip flop about the whole lesbian/bi thing...

Apparently, all women are asexual.

I am Asexual and I believe- you either are or you are not. There is no inbetween and special snowflakes make it harder for real Asexual people to be taken seriously.

And please do not use tumblr as information.

They have resources within the Kinsey Institute's website. Please use actual science instead of tumblr to back up your topic.

I am 20 now. I have never felt sexual desire or attraction to another person before. It's alien to me. I have no idea what it feels like and I don't really care about it either.

I can find people pretty, like a kitten or a really nice painting. But that's the end of it.

I think most people who claim to be asexual (particularly women) aren't. They either have a slow sex drive or are finding a way to rationalise not pursing any kind of relationship.

That being said, if someone asked what my situation was right now, I would definitely throw out the word 'asexual' to describe my sexuality. I don't know for sure if I am asexual for definite - I kind of doubt it - but I don't seem to experience any kind of sexual desires or attraction towards either gender.
