I disagree with the notion of women overrating themselves. It's quiet the opposite tbh. All my average or hot friends date guys below their league or their looksmatch. Yet I almost never see hot guys with non-hot girls.

Your looksmatch is whoever you are able to snag. You don't "deserve" a good looking partner or a bad looking partner based on your own looks. There are a host of other factors that influence attraction. Some doofy looking guys get hot women because they are charismatic or funny or rich; some mousy looking women get good looking men because they are kind or devoted or feminine or secretly a tigress in bed. Who knows.

Looksmatch is a false concept because it assumes everyone has the same standards of attractiveness, and it also assume that men and women see both genders in the same way. Can people looksmatch parrots to dogs or apples to mathematical theorems on a chalkboard. The idea is some moralizing incel daydreaming and a poor justification form”hypergamy”.

I will not rate the looks of these couples. I don't like giving people scores out of 10. But all of these couples are as attractive as each other, and are looksmatched in my eye. None of them were famous when they first got together - which is important, because you cannot go by couples in which one or both of them are celebrities of any kind.

wendy and jack in the shining imo, duvall was the weird looking tall and thin younger chick, nicholson was the older slightly thick eccentric looking man. both contrasted well (in positive and negative features) and made a realistic couple where both actors weren’t mismatched or incredibly attractive. not a surprise i’ve been compared to shelly and my type is jack in one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.

Even looking at the Mains Twins: the male one just has worse skin; I would assume this is because the female one uses some kind of makeup and the male one doesn't.

They're identical twins by the way; one just takes female hormones which makes this comparison interesting.

I think looksmatching is an absurd concept because physical attraction is so relative. I’ll go to my grave holding the “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” view. Try to get five guys or girls to rank five people of the opposite sex from hottest to least hot and you’re gonna get five different rankings. Yet people still cling to calling it objective.
