Taking into consideration the summerization of the article I'd like to present the situation as a point of reflection as I am working on my 7th month single after a 15 year relationship.

I was with my partner for 15 years. I listened to her ramble on for years. Talk about nothing of importance non stop until my ears rang. Nothing was ever solved. It was simply frivolous talk that looped into circles and could go on for hours.

After about 3 years into our relationship I listened carefully and timed a conversation. After she finally wound down I seen she had spoken for 45 minutes and I still have no idea what the point of the conversation was. This never changed in our relationship. She never stopped talking about nothing for hours and my patience for the ignorance just mounted. I pointed out many times what was happening. Explained my point of view logically. Stated many times to hurry the conversation along. It never changed and I was viewed with more hostility each time I tuned her out. Each time I asked to get to the point. Each time I waved my fingers to hurry the speech along.

Near the end our our relationship I would only see her about an hour a day. She would complain about her work for 30 minutes and I would listen to her talk /complain about people I didn't know, about a job with terminology I didn't understand and issues I could not relate to. Then she would get ready for work and leave only to do it all again the next day. There were no conversations outside of her work or her family.

Not present? I work a 9-5 corp job she worked a 7PM to 7AM job with many opportunities for employment. I asked her many times to switch shifts to spend more time with me. On the weekends she didn't work I begged her to go golfing with me. To go on a walk to watch something and not fall asleep. To exercise with. To cook with. TO SPEND TIME WITH ME. She refused or made excuses. If it didn't involve the children, her family, a restaurant or sitting home we didn't do it together. So most of my off time from work involved sitting in my house with her and the children. Summers wasted doing nothing unless I planned it all out. Sure I'd hear "I'd love to go to the lake." "Lets go to Disneyland" or "Lets go camping" That is where it ended though. If she suggested it that would mean I had to plan all of it if we were going to do it.

There were a lot of red flags and things wrong in our relationship, but here's the point. I did listen to my ex with complete integrity. I did try to spend time with her. I've been doing the self improvement thing my entire life. I stayed in shape and improved my employment status. I spent all my free time with my family. I raised our children. It didn't matter.

After 15 years together and 3 children she had an affair with another man. She made no effort in making our relationship better. She cheated, because she didn't want to put in the work to make our relationship better. She didn't want to change she wanted someone to tolerate her immature behavior. Everything was my fault and she simply jumped ship.

Stop blaming men for your selfish immature behavior. Take responsibility for your actions.

Wow, my SO, 1 kid +1 otw, literally just wrote me a "letter" saying this exact same bullshit. That I need to quit my good paying, night shift job and I need to stop hanging out with my friends or else she will leave me and take the kids. That way I can take a pay cut and have to pay for day care, $125 a week per child, so she doesn't have to work so hard. She works a low paying human services job during the day literally sitting on her ass, I work a high impact warehouse job on my feet for 9 hours every night, staying in shape and pulling in over $20/hr. Thanks to the system she'll easily pull $300 a week from me for the two kids. All so she can "spend more time with me" aka sit on the couch and watch TV while I do the woman work. Not happening

Just prior to separating from my ex-wife, we tried something similar. Fifteen minutes of conversation just about the two of us. No talk of children/finances/etc. Just us. High points of the day, and low points.

She was completely unable to hold that type of conversation. She was unable to talk about herself in any capacity.

The "counselor" in the OP is a neutered man but he brings up a good point, women need to be kept occupied. This is where many good men mess up, I've seen it so many times. Here's what happens:

When you start up in life there is so much for both sides to do. The husband and wife are "go getters" in their careers, the kids need a huge amount of attention, and neither the husband or wife can afford to sit idle. This type of struggle, despite being stressful, breeds camaraderie, the husband and wife are a team. But then when successful man gets to higher income levels he tends to delegate tasks that the woman would traditionally do, which makes sense to a man in a business mindset.

So they get a gardener to take care of the lawn. They have a maid come in a few times a month to clean the house. The kids stop needing 24/7 supervision. The wife starts to cut back on hours at work. Before long the wife has nothing to to do. She has been used as an incubator, her income has been surpassed by her husband to the point she's a non-factor financially, and she starts getting depressed.

What is the point to my life she says to herself?

She can't find purpose in her traditional role as a house wife, that's beneath her. She will always be a distant second to her husband intellectually and financially. So she gets depressed. She starts taking medicine, she starts drinking, and eventually she acts on her irrational female emotions.

She starts lashing out at her husband. She starts spending his money on frivolous things. She eventually starts cheating. Cue the divorce, few years of alimony, followed by a lifetime as a single woman who watches her ex-husband marry a girl 20 years younger than her.

This doesn't have to happen. AWALT and yes they are hypergamous sluts at their core, but most of these marriage issues can be solved by giving your woman a routine and tasks that make her feel important but most importantly, occupy her time.

Make sure she maintains gainful employment even after it isn't necessary. Get your wife/LTR a sewing kit, gardening equipment, the nicest cooking equipment you can afford. Domestic tasks are to women what coffee is to men, at first it tastes bitter, but after a while it's addicting to them.

You are doing your woman a disservice if you take away her purpose in life.

The plain language isn't that horrible. After all, if you want someone to hang around, you might want to let them know why. Heck, if I want someone around long term, I'm assuming that they're doing something I can't or don't want from a rotation of women. On that level, it's a borderline tautology.

The problem is when 5 minutes is code for "what (appropriate ethnic slur)! Why are you doing (insert appropriate passionate interest)! You should be spending time with me!!!111" And therein lies the problem. The first paragraph is fine. The second? Not so much.

See, I can complain about a movie and SAY how it should of been done better but, t actually execute it is a different story.

This is good on paper and may work for what, a day or so but, what happens when she needs that tingle? When she needs that animal from you to come out? When she tests you despite all your good guy efforts?

Point is, this is a somewhat great starter pack but, it leaves out so much more. This will only leave guys in a more frustrated state than they already were in.

Of course, women will complain and say its not real if he needs help and, granted she has a point to an extent. That is why its best to not show her the sites you look on. You have to solely do this shit on your own until it becomes you. Don't talk the game, DO the game.
