A while back, I was thinking of a way to 'make' myself more social, funny, and awesome. I'm a natural introvert and would have been labeled as the shy guy in high school. In college, I grew out of this to some extent, but still struggle with what to say sometimes, or how to make people laugh.

I recently started listening to stand-up comedy skits from Youtube. I download them as an MP3 and put them on my iPod as I commute on public transportation. Back in high school, when Comedy Central was just coming out, my friends used to watch it, laugh, bond together. I hated it. I thought it was dumb, unintellectual, and stupid.

Since implementing this change, I've noticed a huge change in my mood. I've gone from being a boring, lethargic lamer to a much higher energy state. It's helped me come up with things on the fly to blurt out with friends, co-workers, etc... I'm now more easily able to make people laugh. This has intern raised my perceived value in these situations as people now gravitate to me much more than before. Again, overall, it just makes me feel better (wait, can we discuss feelings here?) and happier.

Literally, I now find myself laughing at just about anything. Not caring as much about stupid things or details that don't matter. I'd highly suggest this to anyone looking to 'make themselves funnier' or see the world in a less pessimistic light. It's so easy to get caught up in the TRP world, distancing yourself from other people.

Girls dig guys who make them laugh and guys like other dudes who are able to joke around. Win-win in my book.
