Ladies, tonight I had my first experience of a man asking me to split the bill (within the first couple of dates). And thanks to FDS I was prepared on how to handle it.

So when the bill comes:

Him: do you want to split the bill?

Me: oh I thought you were taking me out to dinner?

Him: oh yes I was, yeah I am, no problem.

(He pays for bill)

Me: Well I did ask you to hang out and I did pick the place (I know big FDS no-no but we had chemistry!🙄)

Him: oh is that hard for you?

Me: is what hard for me?

Him: is it hard for you to ask someone to hang out?

Me: no...

Then we walked next door and got ice cream even though I was trying to think of excuses to bail. When it came time to pay I was like “don’t worry I got mine” and he goes “oh how long have you been waiting to say that?” And I said “just now.”

The date ended shortly after that.

I have never been asked to split the bill on the first couple of dates before. I wasn’t meant about it and actually more laughing from the uncomfortableness. My exes usually all covered our dinners and drinks. Of course there were times I would cover but we were in a committed relationship not our THIRD DATE!

CHEAPO! 🚩

EDIT: I talked to my sister and she says that I should have paid half because of “equality” and because I asked him to go out. I was like this is the first couple of dates!? This is courtship and time to show investment. She says that now he probably thinks I’m using him for a free meal because I asked him out and paid for my own ice cream.
