Honestly a problem too is pickme mothers who expect you to do this stuff for their sons!! My ex’s mother one time asked me if I had been clipping her son’s toenails for him. I was so bewildered, I was like “umm, no..I think he can do that for himself..” He was 27 years old!!! I will never get over how some men are completely babied well into adulthood, and I wouldn’t at all be surprised if so many of these men leaving skidmarks in their underwear and not cleaning their piss off the floor are products of that. Not trying to shift blame onto their mothers, because these men really should know better and be responsible for their own actions as adults, but I feel like it’s definitely an issue.

I just can't spend any more time on depressed men. I did it, I did the thing, I listened and communicated and was supportive and tried to get them to therapy and all it meant was more work for me, and then I had to be the one to dump them because they were too deflated to even do that.

If he's depressed, see ya. Just means more work for me and I don't think there's a magical awesome guy under it all... anymore.

So much time lost. If someone has life-altering depression now, friend or boyfriend, I'm out until they actually improve their lives and seek mental health help.

Told this story in another thread, but my friend and I in our raging PickMe days had some winners.

Me: Then boyfriend left skid marks in my bed, reacted with GENUINE disgust towards me when I told him to scrub his asshole. "What do you mean, you mean YOU touch your own asshole? THAT'S DISGUSTING!!!!!"

As someone with depression dealing with a codependent, depressed mom, WE CANNOT HELP ANYONE WHO IS DEPRESSED. How in the fuck can a regular person, especially those who also have depression, be qualified to help outside of offering support? Even if I was a trained therapist with 20 degrees, I couldn't help someone who I have a close relationship with. It's a conflict of interest! And look I get therapy is mostly inaccessible to a lot of people now days. I could afford only a few months of therapy myself. However, even a month of therapy can make a world of a difference. The help offered by a therapist vs. your friend is wildly different. Stop expecting women to take on the role of chef, maid, and especially therapist!! We aren't here to absorb your trauma! Many of us have enough of our own trauma thank you!

Btw if there's one thing I took from therapy, it's this: You cannot make anyone do anything. Okay y'all? You cannot make anyone do anything. If you're at a point where your partner just flat refuses to do anything that could remotely help them, you're allowed to leave. Please learn from past and ongoing mistakes.
