In some states and in some countries, there is a rule applied stating divorce cannot move forward and/or be finalized until the "cooling off" period has ended. Sometimes this is up to one year. This rule only serves men who wish to use this time to manipulate, control and stonewall a woman's ability to make a clean break.

Imagine how many women have been talked into coming back into bad relationships, or worst case, have been murdered during the arduous process of leaving. This gives men, who many times use children as a weapon, time to plan and execute tactics against a woman, hindering her ability to leave him. I wonder how many have been roped into a "loop" of wanting to end things, only to be worn down by the process until they have little to no fight left, a form of Stockholm syndrome ,making it hard to leave an abusive situation after enough time normalizing it for a woman? These women could have used that precious time for therapy, healing and leveling up, not staying in the trench of a bad marriage. For example, Arkansas can take 540 days to finalize!! Imagine the wasted life force being yolked to some LVM you cant escape. Shameful.

Studies have shown most divorces are initiated by women, after a long thoughtful consideration. I conclude that the majority were 100% ready at the time of the initiation to cut ties. Creating mandatory barriers to this seems like a form of modern day slavery. There is no reason a divorce needs to drag on for that amount of time and is another way the justice system fails women.
