Let's ignore all the moral arguments that are against the rise of porn, only fans, and hookup culture in American society. To me, moral arguments are incredibly weak since they don't have much pragmatic reasoning. These arguments essentially boil down to "it's wrong because I feel that it's wrong" which is very similar to religious dogma.

I find it far more interesting to discuss the practical consequences of increased promiscuity on society and whether it is as bad as we make it seem. When I talk about practical consequences, I mean measurable effects such as crime rate, education attainment level, percentage of two-parent households vs one-parent households, worker productivity, etc.

The biggest argument against increased promiscuity is that it breaks down the nuclear household, which leads to problematic children that the government eventually has to take care of. There is also the desire to reduce sexual deviancy. This is the main reason why some well-off countries like China, Singapore, and Korea ban porn. Prostitution is a different issue since the reasons against it are preventing human trafficking rather than raising the next generation.

Some pro arguments for increased promiscuity is that people have more freedom of sexual expression and can engage in their desires. If there is no large detriment in society, why not show off your body to society and engage in hookup culture?

When I look at it from a practical lens, the criticism of promiscuity as it pertains to raising the next generation is overblown as divorce rates in countries that ban porn but allow no-fault divorce are pretty high anyways. Increased promiscuity may lead some people astray from obtaining high-paying, competitive jobs, but that just means less competition for the others that spend their time studying rather than messing around.
