I can see being relieved that the children were inside. It is more horrifying for children to die, rather than adults. I think it's natural to feel more protective of children. But women shouldn't be lumped in with children. Female lives should not be valued over male lives.

Not saying I blame it all on men for these numbers. Courts are pretty bias when it comes to who gains custody. However, it’s no secret women generally do the lions share when it comes to child rearing, even in most dual parent households. A child’s life has hardly begun and children have an innocence that accompany them. So naturally believing a woman’s life has more value is perfectly reasonable. I know this isn’t always the case, some father do a great job raising children but we are talking generally.
