It's not coincidental that he was accused of domestic violence after her support was rejected.

You either say this to get the truth out or get what you want. And if you're doing it to get the news out there, you bring out this accusation from the beginning.

But instead, it was originally "divorce requesting spousal support."

The timing on this isn't coincidental.

Edit: I'll also point out she did this at one of the worst times to do it, after the death of a parent. Now, if Depp has legitimately attacked Heard, there's no reason to wait to get away from him; but if this is a false accusation, making the decision to do this after a family travesty occurred is just poor taste.

[–]Rebax 78 points79 points80 points 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

False accusation are always in poor taste imo

And even less of a point for you to reply.

[–]ContHund 17 points18 points19 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Did someone shit in your lucky charms this morning sweetheart?

[+]Morgsz -42 points-41 points-40 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

We must always believe abuse victims.

[–]probpoopin 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Why?

[+]Morgsz -10 points-9 points-8 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Well because otherwise real victims won't come forward.

Who cares if it destroys a man, think of all women who may not come forward.

Facts and evidence do not support equality or feminism... Your not a racist are you?

(I have no idea where the race card comes from but feel it would be used here)..

[–]probpoopin 15 points16 points17 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Trolling pretty hard today I see...

Don't victims come forward all the time? If they aren't coming forward and being silent about it, how do we know which ones it happened to, and which ones it didn't? I mean, if they aren't reporting it how do we know the actual numbers? It would be impossible to determine, because of the fact that you are claiming.

Who cares if it destroys a man? Well, me for one. I care, and have had false allegations made against me. Luckily I got the person on tape admitting it and it was dropped once I told her my phone had been on in my pocket the entire time. Women aren't more important than men, so I don't see why that trade off is somehow ok with you.

No, not racist. I'm actually a minority myself. By feminist standards, me being racist is impossible. Don't mind my dad who hates a number of groups based solely on their skin color. He is a minority, so he can't be racist either.

Troll on good sir.

[–]Morgsz 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah apparently a /s is required.

[–]probpoopin 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It really is. I mean, it wouldn't surprise me if you were serious, wouldnt be the first time someone said something like that here. How you said it was a dead giveaway for me though. But yeah, some people's children out there....

Coming from a guy like Stanhope I believe it. The one entertainer I am familiar with that wouldn't sell out just to have a celebrity kiss his ass, or further his own career.

agreed - the guy hates marketing and public relations.

[–]TheRedThrowAwayPill 17 points18 points19 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We should make an example of Amber Heard

She's going all in on a few feminazi points :

  1. "Believe the accuser"
  2. "Assume the male is the aggressor"
  3. "Women are wonderful"
  4. "She deserves 1/2"
  5. ???
  6. "#Allimoney"

He's my favorite standup comedian. Go watch No Refunds (available on Youtube). Magnificent set.

[–]Rebax 16 points17 points18 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

He has a good recent one on Netflix too "Beer Hall Putsch"

[–]vakeraj 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

I saw him live a couple years back, his set was fantastic. Doug had this great bit about how everything we think we know about the world is probably wrong, just as people a thousand years ago were wrong about nearly everything they thought to be true. Sadly, I haven't seen any of those jokes makes their way into a special yet.

[+]brutay -15 points-14 points-13 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well that's just stupid. A lot has changed in 1,000 years, in particular the invention/discovery of the scientific method. We may be wrong about things in the sense that Newtonian mechanics is wrong (i.e., it is subsumed by a larger theory that overwrites it within certain extreme or niche domains, but which reduces to it in normal domains).

The superstitious, voo-doo "theories" of 1,000 years ago, however, are so wrong they're not worth salvaging. It seems improper to use the same word ("wrong") to describe both ancient magical thinking and our current scientific understanding, even if the latter is not perfect.

[–]electricalnoise 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow I bet you're fun to go to a comedy show with...

[+]brutay -16 points-15 points-14 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wonder if its proven to be a lie, can Heard be arrested for attempted extortion or something?

Preface: I believe Stanhope.

Do I think Depp has been in a sharp decline regardless of these claims? Absolutely. Mortdecai lol

[–]MasZakrY 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Depp doesn't write the scripts; he Acts.

[–]The_Devils_Avocado_ 16 points17 points18 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Barely. He plays the same character again and again and again. Black Mass was the first good/non-Jack Sparrow performance in forever.

[–]BadWolf2112 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably since Blow - the only movie I really liked him in. Perhaps it was because he was damn close to being Val Kilmer in that role.

HA can I refer to what I do as capitalized now?

[–]muchachomalo 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She would literally have to admit to it. Or somebody she confided in preferably multiple people would have to testify against her. And then Depp would have to press charges. So not gonna happen.

Link for the lazy: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05/29/johnny-depp-is-loving-and-sensitive-says-ex-partner-vanessa-para/

[–]RedVelvetSlutcake 39 points40 points41 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think the fact that his ex wife of 14 years--who he dumped FOR Amber fairly recently--decided to speak up on his behalf despite the fact that she was dumped so he could pursue Amber says a lot about him. Normally, a woman would fucking hate her ex-husband for this and would probably be down to see him get fucked in the as by the new wife, but her coming to his defense? That really makes me believe that he has to be a decent guy and probably a good husband and father.

[–]Ecob16 20 points21 points22 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"Johnny Depp's daughter, ex-wife and former partner Vanessa Paradis come to his defence as 'loving' and 'sensitive' "

That title tho.

[–]TheLizardKing89 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think a lawsuit has a much higher probability of success than going for criminal charges.

[–]Whatswiththelights 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It would be slander at least.

[–]mcantrell 36 points37 points38 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Just a reminder: California is a No Fault + DV Reparations State.

That means you split the assets 50/50. UNLESS the Judge believes there was Domestic Violence. Then the judge can adjust this to 100/0.

In other words, by faking Domestic Violence, she can literally take everything Johnny Depp owns. And given that she was smirking as she left court after filing for divorce, as well as the multiple reports that Johnny Depp knew she was going to try something, it's likely exactly what she is doing.

Christopher Titus had an amazing take on this on his Love is Evol set, discussing how his wife tried the same thing with him. Can't find a link unfortunately.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, but the marital assets are all the assets earned or that accrued DURING THE MARRIAGE. It's not his lifetime earnings, just what was earned in the 15 months.

[–]mcantrell 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's also MINUS EXPENSES. I.e., if he made 100 million and spent 100 million, he still loses 100 million.

IIRC her income was what, 300k?

[–]veggiter 12 points13 points14 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Did you hear that California is a No Fault + DV Reparations State, meaning you split the assets 50/50, unless the judge believes there was domestic violence, in which case the judge can adjust this to 100/0?

Amber Heard...

[–]partyon 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think she is only entitled to 50 percent of his earnings while they were married, or more is the judge thinks it should be.

[–]Electrorocket 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Can it flip to 0/100 if proven she lied about the DV?

[–]mcantrell 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

As far as I know, no. She gets a minimum of 50% of their combined earnings.

Prenups guys. Prenups.

[–]Jesus_is_a_lie 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She gets a minimum of 50%

That is utterly retarded if that is the law. By law you are assuring the woman does no worse than a tie basically. If this were a game, we would call it rigged. It's sad.

[–]Kaylen92 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Kanye said it

[–]Your-Mum-Is-A-Cunt 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But isn't this a form of mental abuse if it's false?

[–]HugoBorden 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's no such thing as mental abuse if a woman is doing it. Then it's called fighting the patriarchy.

[–]TheXanderp 77 points78 points79 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I guessed as much, no normal person would file for divorce 2 days after their partner's mother had died. That to me shows that Heard is an incredibly cruel person. I really hope Depp stays strong, I remember reading he has anxiety problems (as I do myself), can't imagine the stress of losing a parent, having your wife leave you and being publicly shamed for an act of domestic abuse that he (most likely) didn't commit, all in a week.

[–]HoundDogs 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Always interesting to see how these things play out. Ive had enough of seeing highly accomplished celebrities being fleeced by manipulative, lying women who have absolutely no moral compass at all.

This is wrong. We can't continue to let these women get away with this shit. The longer we as a culture say "this is acceptable" by not speaking up, the worse our culture looks.

Depp is a great man, perhaps very eccentric but highly talented. I stand behind him.

[–]Ymeynotu 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank you for this comment

[–]HugoBorden 39 points40 points41 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

From the article:

Bingo [Stanhope's girlfriend] and I were at Johnny’s house for most of that Saturday until just before the alleged assault. We assumed initially that his dour mood was because of his mother’s death the day before. But he opened up in the most vulnerable of ways that it was not only his mother, but that Amber was now going to leave him, threatening to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her terms.

And,

From what we now read in the news, later that night the police were called to his house for a domestic dispute. Finding no criminal act had occurred and no signs of physical abuse, the police left.

Sure looks to me like a cold-blooded and calculated take down of Johnny Depp. This woman really looks like a viper. The government gives modern women the incentive to act like demons. She just probably scratched herself a couple of times... each scratch a million $$$! The system is very corruptive – they're corrupting people's souls.

[–]bettingdog000 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i have witnessed this myself and lets not forget

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DQ7wLbuXAM

[–]Tmomp 38 points39 points40 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't know what to believe about this case, but the bottom line is that we have a system that motivates and rewards the behavior the article described. It hurts everyone, men more than women, but it makes a man like Depp particularly vulnerable.

[–]civilsaint 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Looking at the bruises in the selfie she took in the link, that couldn't have been caused by an iPhone because there is bruising from 2 angles, the one visible when she was at court and then one lesser one on the side of her head next to her eye.

Also, of he inflicted that, then it wouldn't been visible by the time the police showed up, and they are required to file a report if they see signs of abuse.

And this:

We have watched Amber Heard f— with him at his weakest — or watched him at his weakest from being f—ed with — for the entire time we’ve known him.

It was no accident she filled for divorce just after his mother died.

[–]ptstampeder 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I called this last week in a different thread, got downvoted all to hell and was told that I was jaded because i recongized her personality type through my experiences with similar girls. Feel a little vindicated now.

[–]redditorriot 16 points17 points18 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sad state of affairs when women can wield power over men in this way so easily that the man is destroyed and women who actually need help are seen as more suspicious, possibly such as Heard.

It's playing out like a well planned divorce proceeding - character assassination and extortion via victimhood narrative. I hope the truth is proven either way.

Depp - why you no install cameras and mics if you knew it was coming?

Depp is widely known to be one of the sweetest, kindest people in Hollywood. This scumbag Amber needs to get her act together. Pushing this on Depp just days after his mother passed away. Disgusting person. She has millions of her own money and still can't help being a gold digger. They've been married for just barely over a year, the writing is on the wall.

The fact that the judiciary does not punish women who are gold digging whore just demonstrates how gynocentric society is and how disposable males are

Seeing a trend here... Women will think nothing of leaving a man dateless until he has his shit together, and then once his shit's together they go all-out parasite and suck the life out of you.

Today's women just don't seem healthy. Like they need a collective "come to Jesus" moment or something. Very bizarre.

I stumbled in here and didn't realize I was in the MensRights subreddit. I always assumed MensRights was more about wanting equality for all but with a focus on making sure Men's rights are heard and focused on in regard to things like custody battles/circumcision/etc. I didn't realize, though, that so many of you seem to actually loathe women as a whole (which is odd to me, since most of you are straight...?) Man, reading some of y'all's comments has made me so sad and disheartened.

What awful women have fucked your life up so badly that you feel the need to paint all women with some broad strokes? Do you even want a woman as a partner? I'm seriously asking--why pursue women if you dislike them so much? I've had men treat me very badly, but I know that men are overall good, and I love my boyfriend more than anything. I've never thought of men as being less than, or there to provide for me--in fact I've been the main breadwinner in all my relationships. I think you guys should take a step back sometimes and realize being bitter like this clouds your perception, and keeps you from being able to see good examples of women that are definitely out there.

I expect to get downvoted for this, but I hope you see that I am coming from a good, genuine place and mean what I said--I really hope you guys are able to find someone that is compatible with you and treats you right.

First off, this is a place where men can vent about their experiences and feelings about relationships and women. It was created because in so many other places, men expressing their real feelings tend to be silenced. They will let the assholes and trolls say what they want because it furthers the "man=bad/women=good" paradigm. But the current dynamic cannot continue to exist if it becomes accepted that men have real problems that requires more than the usual lip service about men having to "man up."

As a woman and a normal human being, if you didn't feel put off about reading the comments in here, something might be off about you. We are not nice people in this sub. But we pull no punches about our experiences or feelings. What you are reading is everything that the men in here are feeling; straight, no filter. Our society goes out of its way to protect the feelings and sensibilities of women as a rule...we believe that you all do not need to be coddled like that.

You want to be an ally to us men...then you put on your "big girl panties," grit your teeth, and accept the experiences and feelings of the men in here as something that is very important and real. Read until it hurts, take a shot of your personal poison, and read some more. Every man in here has their own story...me; I'm a survivor of a false rape accusation. I still have trust issues regarding women that I don't really know. This particular story makes me damn angry...there's not a lot worse than suffering because of a lie.

The fact is that our legal and social environment is one that allows and even encourages the worst out of women, especially toward men. However good a person you may be, the system allows you the license to potentional to use the law and society to cause great harm. You will probably never do such a thing, but you have to see how wrong it is for you or anyone to have easy access to be able to cause such awful harm.

That anger, fear, and frustration over most of this is at the core of what drives many of the men in here. Understanding that will make a lot of what you read in here easier to deal with.

[–]Cybralisk 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably because men generally don't divorce women and then take all of their shit and then also get alimony which is complete bullshit all together.

[–]davidcwilliams 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I have no problem with what you wrote, and completely understand where you are coming from. Also, this particular post/thread seems to be much angrier that what I see in general. For the most part, the sub focuses on legal injustices, double standards, and issues surrounding custody, alimony, child support, and rape accusation.

At any rate, your welcome to read anything I've ever posted to the sub, and perhaps take away a different perspective than the one than the one you were left with today.

Take care.

[–]AloysiusC 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think anyone loathes women. But many guys are angry. And, honestly, why shouldn't they be? Anger is a healthy response to injustice. Now women haven't caused this injustice but they are probably the only ones who can fix it.

I think you guys should take a step back sometimes and realize being bitter like this clouds your perception, and keeps you from being able to see good examples of women that are definitely out there.

This is good advice - for individual men. For men as a whole, not so much. Why? Because odds are stacked against men. So, by the nature of the system, always only a small minority of men can win while the majority must lose. It's only fair we stop dangling the carrot and start telling men that, yes they should try to succeed but they need a plan B. Because most men are themselves plan C to the women they meet.

[–]RavensHonor2 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Who the hell "painted all women" as you claim? If someone in here is bitter, as you claim, they more than likely have a damn good reason to be.

I'm fairly certain you're just trolling so, I'm sure nobody here will be THAT bothered by this nonsense.

[–]AloysiusC 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It's more that they just take men for granted. And you can't really blame them - given that men pretty much present themselves to women that way. An averagely attractive woman will constantly get guys offering her things. A lifetime of being treated like nobility, makes you start behaving like nobility.

[–]SigmaPUA_111 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

guys offering her things

I suppose men compete in that way too. I get that men compete, but maybe we ought to reconsider what we're competing with. I suspect many of the guys that start getting into lifting (the red pill sub) are sort of in the bargaining phase. At what point is competition pointless, unsustainable, and no longer worth the effort?

Women that commit to competing via "looks" are crazy. How do they not know that their looks will fade someday? Everybody ends up and old-ass wrinkled person and the values you had underneath your looks are going to be the only thing left - they really oughta have a plan for that.

[–]AloysiusC 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

At what point is competition pointless, unsustainable, and no longer worth the effort?

Well some succeed and usually in a great way. That gives the false impression that it's attainable for everyone. Like when someone wins the lottery jackpot - people are inspired to take part even though it's a losing game.

Women that commit to competing via "looks" are crazy.

Well it's what works and little else works so they're just reacting to their circumstances. But remember the competition is nothing like men's competition. A woman needs only to be barely attractive, reasonably groomed and have minimal social skills. That's all and she'll have several potential partners to choose from.

How do they not know that their looks will fade someday?

I think they know mostly. But remember if you live a lifetime of being valued by default, you feel entitled and you don't consciusly draw the connection. Society is designed to take care of women. This is the "normal" and because of that, women rarely have the existencial pressures men have so they don't have incentive to plan ahead and take precautions.

[–]SigmaPUA_111 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well some succeed and usually in a great way.

I kind of think men need to be asking, "What does she dig me for and will I allow it?" These Hollywood stars are not spending the same amount of time on the internet as we are, and there's no way they have even half the information MGTOW/MRA/PUA/Red-Pill men have. I've been consuming this information for a few years now and I still don't have it all down.

I don't want to oversimplify Johnny Depp's case, but he looks like a victim of his own male-mother-need. That's the one disease male stars catch that you can practically set your watch to. Seems like the more "perfect" the male star is, the more he's likely to have that disease. I've always thought Johnny Depp movies were fucking flawless - the whole Pirates series was like "movies from God" if you ask me, so it's like BAM - of course a woman is gonna go after him and take him down. Like it's her assignment. It seems formulaic.

Other stars opt never to marry. Michael Jackson, Prince, Gene Simmons, David Lee Roth.

As a Joe-American, you're prone to being stuck in kind of mental loop, near-endlessly calibrating and meditating on the basic who/what/when/where/why/&how of what you're doing with women. Do you want a woman when you're poor? Do you want one when you're middle class? Do you want one when you're rich? How old do you want to be? How long do you want it to last?

Strangely, it makes me appreciate short-term affairs a little more. There is a sense of "I needed that" coupled with "I sure as hell didn't need it for any longer than I had it."

[–]Hateblade 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This chick seems like just the sort of toxic girl you want to stay completely away from.

What celebrity wants to get photographed? Especially at a really bad time in their private life with an embarrassing facial blemish? But this girl is over here parading that bruise around like it's a damned beauty mark. I've seen it from 6 different angles in the single news article I read about the situation.

Also, she was involved in lesbian relationship previously. Bi-girls in want of attention is a red flag for crazy.

And the incident that got this into the public sounds like the typical whiny bitch shit test. His mother just died and the family didn't want her to be around them (Hmm... I wonder why). According to Johnny, she acted "like a petulant child."

Sounds so familiar.

Of course, she has no end of people who can corroborate how horrible and mean Johnny was to her. Probably because she gaslit the situation by making sure that they only get to see him after she's riled him up with non-stop nagging. Bitch at him all day until he finally snaps and then "See? See how mean he is?"

This sounds like the typical abusive female.

[–]whatssename 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have a great deal of empathy for Depp. As those of us who have endured abusive relationships, this sort of manipulation is par for the course. Although both men and women have the capability to behave this way, especially during a divorce, this de-facto guilt toward the male has reached startling proportions.

I find those who find it unbelievable that a woman is capable of this incredibly naive. Have we not witnessed over the past few years these false accusations proven false? And what happens once they are proven false? Nothing. Nothing at all.

Men who have dealt with similar situations both within relationships and marriages know how too real it is and how terrifying it is knowing that you're going to be perceived as guilty as soon as the accusation is made. The irony of it is that the women who make these false accusations as a means of blackmail or revenge in many cases turn out to be the ones who were the abusers in the relationship.

I don't know if Depp has it better or worse than the average man. On the one hand, he can at least afford the legal fees and is certainly in a better financial position. On the other, this is going to be pretty difficult to come back from given the public nature of it all unless Heard's story completely falls apart, which seems at least somewhat likely, but it's an uphill battle.

[–]Kailola2 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Never thought I'd end up in this side of Reddit lol. But her story is too... Well, scattered. There's pics but cops tell a completely different story. She could've at least trashed the place herself.

I get sick seeing other women lie about abuse. If she's lying he needs to sue her into oblivion. It's disrespectful as a woman to read other women make things up. I've been abused so it hits close to home.

I hope WHATEVER the truth is gets properly revealed. And as of now it looks more and more like a setup.

Did he hit that woman or not? Doug's own article states that Johnny was awake for days with anxiety. Doug is really not helping Johnny's case here; if Amber provoked him at night, it doesn't seem unreasonable that he would hit her.

Did he hit her? In the court document his bodyguard was stated to have coaxed him to stop, but not pull him off. Did the bodyguard witness him hitting her?

So if he hit her, did she provoke him intentionally to get a reaction? His bodyguards will give their statement, and her friend theirs. Same goes with the previous incidents she claims to have evidence for.

This account also implies Amber launched this on him before the death of his mom. But his mom was on her deathbed of her long illness, so that's equally bad. But if Amber was really in danger, she would definitely seek the restraining order no matter the date.

And his character witnesses and her character assassinations don't mean jack. The most successful and saintly woman is perfectly capable of hitting her most deadbeat gigolo sugar baby husband.

Anyway Doug sounds like the worst kind of enabler. Johnny's problem is his drinking and drugs and guess what, they both have the same nasty complexion.

What a shitty article. Author makes a few statements, which seem to be backed by statements from others. Okay cool, article should end right then. Author then goes on to make the same statements with slightly different wording. And again, and then yet again. Just keeps repeating the same statements. I feel for Depp but that article could have been 1/4th the length and still have 100% the content.
