I read a comment on youtube once of a woman who said she used to reply: "I'm looking for a man who is exactly himself so I can observe and decide if he's the right person for me or not" . I liked that one.

Love it. Going to use this!
[–]AnniaTFDS Disciple81 points82 points83 points 5 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
I love it too. I used it a few times and was ghosted by a few men I replied this to (on dating apps before meeting for the first time). Probably thought I was going to be too much work lol
[–]BellaMobFDS Apprentice72 points73 points74 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Good way to weed them out for sure. After I changed my Hinge answer to “I’m looking for” to “High quality” I noticed that I’m getting less matches now (used to have a list of qualities there before I came here) which saves time for me.
[–]AnniaTFDS Disciple51 points52 points53 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It really helps weeding out. I've been using Bumble occasionally and noticed that since I put "relationship" in the "what you're looking for" tag thing that my number of matches decreased exponentially. But also I almost never find someone in there that interests me lol I think I might write "high quality" somewhere in my profile too to weed out the "coffee date, Netflix and chill, walking date" kind of guys lol
[–]SandyWaters2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm new around here, so I'm curious. What is wrong with the coffee or "walking" date? Truly want to know
[–]LookatthatsassPickmeisha™️38 points39 points40 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Lol I changed mine to say “a feminist” ... I went from having 2-3 likes a day to 2-3 likes a week. No complaints, I love a good weed out.
[–]StrainingMyNeuronsFDS Newbie57 points58 points59 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I’d be careful with a guy, who calls himself a feminist, especially upfront. It’s usually virtue signalling, and most men who say they’re feminist, will also have “ethically non-monogamous”, “polyamorous” bullshit to go with it.
[–]LookatthatsassPickmeisha™️11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Moot point. Actions are worth more than words or labels but the point at the OLD stage is to just narrow the cesspool.
There are always guys that will get through any filter that’s why periodic evaluation for compatibility is key imo
[–]shortywannarockFDS Newbie7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Agreed. Any guy I date has to be a feminist at the very least so figuring out if he’s a fake feminist would be a step in the right direction for me lol
[–]LookatthatsassPickmeisha™️7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep. Let me assess if you’re a fake feminist but if you don’t even self identify or think about women’s rights before ever ... then please see yourself out.

Yeah they probably have no personality that such a minuscule task is asking for too much lol

From what I'm seeing, any work is too much for some men.

Him: what kind of guys do you like?
Me: the kind that talk about themselves a lot :)

I think I kind of have this mentality but unfortunately I didn’t pull the trigger fast enough. I thought “I let him do what he wants so he can show me what type of guy he is.”

This is such a common question from men and I’ve never thought about how odd of a question it really is. Like, unless it’s like the meme says and you are trying to figure it out so you can pretend to be like that, as a man pursuing me, why else would you want to know what kind of traits I prefer in a man? Because it’s definitely not that you are just curious to know.
[–]yvrcanuck88FDS Newbie18 points19 points20 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I used to think it was because the guy was wanting to see/find out IF he was compatible with me or not. Like if I said I’m looking for a sporty, athletic guy who likes to hike; and if he wasn’t that type and didn’t like to hike, then he (and myself) would know it’s not a great match. Previously I never thought it was bcuz the male was trying to mirror/mould themselves to what female wants to suck them in!
[–]valleysflower25Throwaway Account171 points172 points173 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Haha! I had a guy mirror me for 4 months, trying to get sex even though I TOLD him the day we met that I'm saving myself for marriage. The 2nd time I refused our "netflix and chill" date he dumped me. This taught me to not spell all my secrets to some stranger.

Thank you darling! 😙You can't imagine the amount of effort that scrote dedicated to manipulating me into his bed, he could have easily learned another language instead of that!
[–]vmuzondiFDS Apprentice109 points110 points111 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Fell for this my preFDS days. He even admitted that he was doing things to get me to like him more. Imagine the surprise I got when he stopped putting in effort. 🙄

[–]DontWantToWakeUpAt6FDS Newbie18 points19 points20 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It’s not the actual line, but it’s a pretty good movie tho. The guy is an absolute fucking douche to his girlfriend who doesn’t take shit at first but always bends over backwards 5 min later.

Before stumbling on this sub I would always troll them and say, "A man who is like [insert my favorite male celebrity]". I could gauge their reactions accordingly like 1) are they going to get really upset and curse out this celebrity (HUGE red flag) 2) compliment the celebrity's work or 3) reply back w/looking for a celebrity too (yellow flag, could either be funny or really bitter). Now I discovered this sub, I would just leave the conversation than even entertain them. Like I never asked a guy what they're looking for in a woman.

[–]PooPooMeeksFDS Newbie10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This one Youtuber gave this same advice. He aid that if a guy asks, “So, what are you looking for?” the. The guy just wants to know so he can learn to “fake” what you want, so you will fall for him and give him sex. He recommended to just respond with something like, “I like to just get to know a person, and see if we mesh.”
This Youtuber is a guy that’s admits to having been an LVM in the past, but now has a “no nonsense” wife who has “schooled him” real quick and now he’s turned into a religious HVM that schools women on men’s games, LOL...

This happened to me lately. Fuck him.
[–]takethemonkeynLeaveFDS Newbie7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yep. This has happened to me a lot and it's why I prefer a man with his own established hobbies that are consistent and healthy.
One thing I do try to take into consideration because of where I live is the privilege I had being born and raised in a city. I've had exposure and access to music, sports, arts, and literature my entire life, not just within my public school system, which people from rural areas are generally limited to. I know people who don't know how to swim or ride a bike. Things I would never have known could be taken for granted. And these same people have taught me so many things I didn't know about, because our childhoods were different and that's ok. Passion for learning and trying new things is attractive as hell.
Also, it's easy to pick up on mirroring these days because they'll call it "vibing," yet always text you about how bored they are.
[–]Apricot_IbexFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think that’s a really healthy perspective to take! A person’s attitude and whether or not they have good/compatible qualities are way more important than where they come from, and sometimes a very different background can be really attractive. I’ve had that experience too. A good heart, a sharp and open mind, those are far more important.
