The pandemic has really made me realize how much I enjoy my free time and spending it judiciously with select people. Dating just seems like a distant nightmare at this point.

That's so true. Even though restrictions have lifted this summer in California and I'm fully vaccinated, I'm more concerned about returning to work and meeting HVW so I can have some healthy female friends than to date.

I've seen the horrors of these quarantine relationships where people hooked up and even moved in during COVID only to break up once it's over. I tried OLD on and off since 2014 and I finally gave up during COVID because these men still aren't acting right. The pandemic has made them even worse.

I've also seen the horrors of the dating world from hours of watching tv while we were stuck at home...shows on HBO like Fboy Island, Love after Lockup, and a slew of other reality shows which still idolizes women chasing LVM, everyone hooking up with no relationship or promise of commitment, and all the lying/cheating. It's atrocious. I rather not try the dating pool again.

alot of my friends are single, we are just focusing on our careers and bettering ourselves through hobbies. working out, eating healthy, planning for our retirement, keeping in touch with relatives and old friends. we've all got horror stories between us about men, especially after the metoo movement and realising just how creepy and pornified our culture has become. the daily catcalling and harassment is a living hell

I am one of those women. I have decided to devote myself to my personal God and spirituality rather than bother with men. I have given up on men for the rest of my life. I'm not recommending others do that, but that's just my choice. I have been in so many abusive relationships, emotionally unavailable men or f-boys that I'm just fed up with it all. I knew before ending things with my recent ex the he was going to be the last man I would ever date.

So I found out from a YouTube essay that an academic has actually written an article about this phenomenon and named it "heterofatalism". The sad thing is that women like FDSers are doing all the work to try to repair heterosexuality while men are not even trying to come to the table and more commonly deny that there's an issue that they can do something about (see incels and FDS haters). Classic that women are once again doing all the work. And if hetero men don't want to come to the table with equal effort to fix their own behavior, women can't fix it for them and heterofatalism will only get worse. All men do is either lie to me or decide they don’t feel a spark if I try dating them, and I’ve never been treated right in a romantic context. The pandemic gave me a good reason to not bother attempting to date, and I’ve been focusing on my family, the people who I know love and care about me. Why would I waste my time on men who just cause me headaches? I think those old ladies who live into 100+ years of age and say “no men” is the secret are on point. I haven’t had a crush on a man in five years.
