A Shut Up Proposal, if you can even call it a proposal (blurting it out drunk at 2:00 a.m. on a Saturday doesn't fucking count) and not even a Shut Up Ring. Ridiculous.

This is a prime example of why women need to have very clearly defined relationship standards and goals. She could have prevented all of this by dumping him after he told her he didn't want to get married. If a man looks you in the eyes and says "I don't want to get married", he doesn't fucking love you. He doesn't even fucking like you. Might as well be spitting in your face. As we say here at FDS, the "with you" is silent.

You can also see her where she clearly has been manipulated by patriarchal lies. This ridiculous black and white thinking that men push acting as though the only two options for marriage are huge proposal, massive expensive ring, oversized bloated wedding with hundreds of guests and huge cost, big deal, bridezilla etc. Or this shit. Toilet proposal, drunken blurted out proposal, no planning, no care, no ring, $5 ring, $60 ring, no love, no romance, no ceremony, no party, no public announcement or display of the seriousness of his commitment.

What I truly honestly don’t understand is why women stay with these men. And please don’t tell me they are afraid of being alone. She is so alone in that relationship right now it’s pathetic. This reminds me of the post about the guy who thought that his girlfriend was planning their wedding when in reality she didn’t even know that they were having a wedding. He thought she was doing all the planning because she was working at her computer a lot and she said yes when he had casually asked her if she wanted to get married. She thought that it was just a discussion and not an actual proposal.

A proposal doesn’t have to be expensive. A wedding doesn’t have to be expensive. If you care even a little bit about your future wife you would try to compromise and at least give her a decent proposal... he truly just doesn’t give a shit and she should leave.

I would never say yes to someone that doesn't have a well thought out proposal and ring, and this is coming from someone that doesn't want to marry anyone. Like how rude..just because your first wedding sucked doesn't mean you get to ruin her first experience to it. He sounds like he's been a crap partner since the begging. A HVM would want her experience to be the absolute best. And would love to show their love in front of both families. For her happiness.

I could respect him saying that he didn't want to remarry (I never did and don't want to), but this sudden change of mind combined with the lack of enthusiasm only suggests that he "did the math" and found out that it would be a better deal for him to sign the papers with his new bangmaid-to-be. 🤮

So first he was adamant he didn’t want to get married again and sis still stayed with him. Someone else on this thread wrote that his contempt for her is dripping off the page. Of course. He knows she has no standards and that anything he throws at her will stick. She’s just a warm body. Honestly, it sounds like he hates her.

I sincerely hope she breaks up with him and does a ton of introspection. She sounds super young and naive. She needs clearly defined standards and boundaries before she embarks on any new relationship, let alone a romantic one.

He knows why she's upset. He just doesn't care. Even if he doesn't fix it, he knows she isn't going anywhere. She's already shown him she doesn't value herself enough to have high standards, and will take whatever afterthought he bothers to give her. He doesn't love her, that much is obvious. But he will be happy to marry her and exploit her emotional, sexual and physical labour.
